Heated throws and electric blankets

Hi. Does anyone have recommendations for the above that they have bought? Both of my DDs are living in rented places - 1 of which only has electric heating, so I thought I would buy them a heated throw or blanket (or both) as part of their Christmas presents. Very grateful for any recommendations!

Bought a dreamland one from Lakeland after people recommended them on here. I love it, currently have it on me now as I wfh and have bought ones for family for Christmas.

They're the only ones I've tried so can't compare but I'm sure others will be along who can.

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 21/11/2022 11:27

Also Lakeland here; bought theirs because all the reviews I read about other ones said 'stopped working after a few months' and LL is a vey reliable brand in terms of customer service if something you bought from them turns out not to be up to spec.

I have both Dreamland underblanket for beds and their heated throws, they're all excellent.
I have another 'off brand' heated throw which is a bit patchy/rubbish heating.

Just bought Dreamland faux fur throw from Argos. DS (off school poorly) and I are currently snuggling under it. It’s amazing, I wish I’d bought it sooner.

I have a dreamland electric blanket for my bed. I paid a bit extra to get the type that looks like a padded mattress topper. It's lovely, it heats up quickly and it stays put on the bed and doesn't move about like cheaper ones that tie on. The padding means you don't notice the wires too much either.

I bought from Lakeland 12 months ago and is used lol the time. An absolute god send to have one of these.

I've had this for a year and use it for probably 9 hours a day (work from home) in autumn, winter and spring. It's still going strong.

Blueskythinking123 · 21/11/2022 12:33

I'm sat under the Aldi heated blanket. It's lovely. Got mine off line.

We have the Dreamland Husky from Lakeland, bloody lovely off or on. We bought it at the end of the summer but think it might be out of stock now.

EmmatheStageRat · 21/11/2022 12:37

I’ve just bought a Dreamland faux fur throw (fallow deer) from Lakeland as they offer a three-year warranty compared to John Lewis’s two years for the same product at the same price. I also found a £10 off code leaflet in another parcel I’d ordered. I hope they will hurry up and deliver it soon!

Thanks for all your responses! Off to Google now - lots of good reviews for Lakeland

Had my dreamland one a few years now from Lakeland it’s amazing. So brought Quite a few as Christmas presents this year.

Enko · 21/11/2022 16:45

Dh is in love with his
I just.know I will get one for Christmas and I really don't want one..

senior30 · 21/11/2022 16:46

Mine is Lakeland, my mum has one she bought elsewhere for around £20 less but the difference is unbelievable

Tacsi · 21/11/2022 18:29

I bought a silent night heated throw from Asda the other day £30 on offer, nothing to compare it to as its first one I've ever bought but I love it, lovely and warm and snug

Unforgettablefire · 21/11/2022 19:27

Another with the dreamland here. I got the husky one and it's amazing, I've not had the heating on (just once and it cost me nearly a tenner for a day!) the money I've saved is insane.
Get a decent one op with a guarantee. The dreamland throws are expensive but more than pay for themselves, they look great too!

How much have you used it? I've got mine on all the time I'd hate the wires to have a lifespan like bulbs do.

YomAsalYomBasal · 22/11/2022 09:31

Dreamland from Lakeland here too! I got one from them that was used most days. It stopped working after 22 months (so not far off the end of 2 year guarantee) and they replaced it with a new one. I think it was the wires that got ruined, it did get clambered over a lot on our sofa.

Which? have reviewed electric throws and electric blanket this month. The Dreamland Herringbone about £80 came out best, followed by the Dreamland Heated throw (£60).
Both of my DS have the Herringbone which they rate highly. DS1 has just moved home as his boiler has packed up and won't be replaced for about 3 weeks but he was managing well before yesterday. DS2 in the East Midlands still has his central heating off .
I read a comment somewhere that users can feel the wires on some of the inexpensive ones.

I’ve used it daily in the winter October till April it’s been washed frequently too. Mine is a dreamland one and is a red Sherpa one not made in that colour anymore. Prior to that I had one of the cheapest dreamland ones and that one did stop working I think it’ was too thin in fabric I could feel the wires wasn’t no where near as good as a Sherpa fleece one.

I'm thinking of getting a heated throw but do you have to sit near a plug constantly or do they hold the heat

They have very long leads, however they seem to hold the heat. DS2 who is WFH often turns his off during the day, as even on the lowest setting he gets too warm. He works in his office - a boarded and windowed loft, but it has no heating and he says he is toasty warm.

Decafflatteplease · 25/11/2022 17:29

Can anyone give me.a link for the Lakeland Dreamland ones as there's so much choice online!
