Heated throws and electric blankets

Hi. Does anyone have recommendations for the above that they have bought? Both of my DDs are living in rented places - 1 of which only has electric heating, so I thought I would buy them a heated throw or blanket (or both) as part of their Christmas presents. Very grateful for any recommendations!

@Decafflatteplease , I have this one and I can’t recommend it highly enough. In the same way my Hotel Chocolat Velvetiser was THE purchase of my family’s lockdowns, this Dreamland throw is destined to become my Best Buy of the CoL crisis.

This one is the MN Best Buy

This one is still in stock on the Lakeland website

I did extensive research into best buys and price comparisons and there’s not much difference in price ( Amazon may sometimes knock a few pounds off the Dreamland RRP) but Lakeland is the only retailer to offer a three-year warranty (John Lewis is two years). Plus, you can often find Lakeland discount codes on the voucher sites (I got £10 off mine, thanks to a flyer in a magazine).

Happy hunting!

Thanks @EmmatheStageRat don't suppose you still have the discount code do you?

Dreamland faux fur throw here. I bought it in Dunelm at the beginning of March for £65.80. I had been eyeing it up for ages then it went in the sale which was a bit of a result.

It's great. Haven't needed it so far but it's handy when you've been outside and are chilled to the bone.

I got this one off eBay (cat not included) - £42 a couple of years ago and still going strong but label doesn’t shown the make - although I did read all the reviews before purchasing and very pleased with my buy!

If you can shop at Costco they had faux fur heated throws for £32 yesterday, they are lovely

ThatsRoughBuddy · 25/11/2022 23:54

I have this one and it’s amazing. Got it free from Octopus 🐙 It’s lovely and big and really leaves you toasty. After half an hour I have to turn it off as I’m sweltering!

I have an electric blanket on DDs bed, bought a smart plug so I could have it on a timer. It comes on 20 minutes before bedtime and then again 5am-6am to try to encourage her to stay in bed longer in the morning.

I just got the single sized electric blanket they had in Asda when I went in,it was £22.

NewBootsAndRanty · 26/11/2022 00:23

I used an electric underblanket on my bed last night for the first time in 30+ years. My god, it was gloriously toasty.

I have an under blanket too only put it on for 10 minutes before I get in bed then I switch it off because I get far too warm during the night.

I have a silent night electric blanket. It heats up nicely and doesn't cost much to run!

I've got a Lakeland £10 off 60 spend or £5 off a £30 spend voucher code, but it runs out on 30th November. Shall I PM it to you?

The bliss on a cold night of sliding into a bed heated by an electric blanket....

Which? have reviewed electric throws and electric blanket this month. The Dreamland Herringbone about £80 came out best, followed by the Dreamland Heated throw (£60).
Both of my DS have the Herringbone which they rate highly. DS1 has just moved home as his boiler has packed up and won't be replaced for about 3 weeks but he was managing well before yesterday. DS2 in the East Midlands still has his central heating off .
I read a comment somewhere that users can feel the wires on some of the inexpensive ones.

What were the best electric blankets?

Daisymay2 · 26/11/2022 23:30

@tothelefttotheleft Best buys were Snuggledown intelligent warmth supreme comfort heated underblanket £100, then Russell hobbs RHEDB8002 £65 but that one is quoted at 7p an hour whereas the first one was 4p.
If you want a bit cheaper, slumberdown electric underblanket £53, and silentnight comfort control £40 were described as great value, and 3p an hour to run .
Think prices were found earlier this week but not sure what size prices refer to.

NewBootsAndRanty · 26/11/2022 23:33

The silent night comfort control is the one I've got - v happy with it so far and fairly cheap to run.

Thomasina79 · 28/11/2022 20:41

I have the fluffy Lakeland one and I love it. U fortunately so does my cat. I worry about him going through the electrics with his paws so make sure I put it out of his reach, especially as his preference is for when the blanket is plugged in!

Sewaccidentprone · 28/11/2022 20:45

I’ve a Pifco one I’ve had at least 5 years. Works great and is still going strong. Can’t have it on high for longer than 10 mins or I get too hot!
