EDF & Energy Bill Support Scheme

I'm with EDF & pay monthly by Direct Debit.

I had an email from them on 24th September regarding the 'UK Government's Energy Bills Support Scheme' - basically a convoluted way of talking about the £400 that we will all be getting.
According to their email, it's due to start October 2022
As I pay by monthly Direct Debit there will be an automatic refund to the bank account from which the DD is taken.

3rd October - my monthly Direct Debit has been taken - 1st working day since the start of the month.
No sign of the £66 either in my bank account or even credited to my EDF account balance.

Have any other EDF monthly DD customers received their £66 yet?

Has anyone received a bill for their usage up til midnight 30/09/22 yet?

Am just wondering whether we'll receive a bill up til then as the SVR changed at 0001 on 01/10/22.

Also... I took a meter reading on 30th September ie photographed it & emailed the photo to myself so it's all dated 30/09. Although I have a smart meter, should give EDF that meter reading just in case?

Obviously I've looked through all their useless FAQs plus am trying to contact via WhatsApp & SMS & am number gazillion in the queue hence me asking Mumsnet!

Yes they did, but when the bill arrived, I worked it all out and I owed over £600, but when I turned the page, they had taken off the £266, as well as sending it to my bank. They even refunded me as I had overpaid. I can't believe it's only happened to us.

No doubt when they realise, they will want it back, i'd put it aside.

I very much doubt that we are the only ones. It must be their computers that have messed up

My bill also shows the payments as a credit. But it is an accounting process. You are not receiving a credit and a refund although it seems so.

Sorry to disagree, but I took the amount of my electricity and gas and added them together and it was way more than the bill. It was only later I realized they had taken off the £266 as well as sending it to my bank. Therefore it has been doubled.

I'm really confused with this. It looks like the £66 amounts have been credited to my EDF account and then debited as refunds. I can even see that money hitting my bank account. But surely this should have a net of zero on my EDF account? Instead those refund debits have offset my direct debits. So for the bill period, I paid a total of £630 direct debits, £199 was refunded back to my bank account. As my bill was £558.92 my EDF balance was £127.92 in debit.

Agree. My bill should have been in excess of £700. The bill was actually £492.73 which, if you add, £266,, comes to the right amount. they have debited my energey account with £266 and also refunded £266 to my bank. Their computer system is up the creek. I am saying nothing.

Not sure if anyone can help me, I’m really having trouble trying to see how this is right and yet EDF are adamant it’s correct.
My bill came through and shows my previous balance, the payments I have made, the £400 refund and then new charges. Then there is the new balance but the new balance is the new charged amount plus £400. So I was £100 in credit after my previous balance & payments, then the new charges were £500 it then says new balance £800 debit. The figures don’t add up to me, and it looks like that have debited the £400 off my bill. They are saying it’s correct and is just showing me how it’s been adjusted. This doesn’t make any sense to me as it was a rebate from the government? Surely my bill then shouldn’t be more than the new charges ?
