Hello all, catching up on myself after returning from Devon, which was heaven. The walk from Branscombe to Beer, and back again on Hooken Undercliff is glorious. Budleigh Salterton down to Otterton along the Otter also. Ddog had an absolute ball flinging himself into various bodies of water, as did I. Didn't even spend that much, really, aside from a couple of nice lunches at farm shop cafés and some traiteur style take-out from the farm shops.
DS had looked after the house fine while we were away, although we did return to find that the pump on the coffee machine had stopped working (but 10 years old, fixed once, and owes us nothing) and one leg on the sofa had collapsed (20 years old, IKEA number, also owes us nothing, but convenient for sitting upon while we sort out a replacement and upgrade). DH has ordered a replacement coffee machine (about £230) and fixed the leg on the sofa. Spent the weekend cleaning the house, doing laundry and ironing. Watched Deliverance (which is 50 years old!) on Apple TV on Saturday, roasted a chicken on Sunday.
Spending so far: £50 on new underwear. Have finally tracked down a comfortable and pretty bra (luckily, it's an M&S one for £14 rather than the Freya one for £33), so have ordered 2 and some knickers to match - fancy! Replacing ancient underwear gradually, and not before time really. £6 on 2 secondhand books.
I have about £130 personal disposable cash this month after bills and savings accounted for, so planning to keep myself busy with reading, yoga, barbell workouts in the garage, and generally trying to keep hold of my pennies without being utterly miserable about it. Joint account in reasonable shape, and my goal there is to pay down the debit balance on the energy account and start putting some money aside for the next holiday/new sofa (or, more likely, the new energy tariff that we'll switch to in October - I think our monthly payments are going to be a horrible shock).
Em - congratulations on the end of nursery fees! A wave and a hug to those going through hard times on the health front.
