Can someone kick my arse ...I need to log on & start work but waylaid by potting up the yellow stickered living herbs. 3 pots of parsley and 1 of mint. I just need to keep my eye out for dill, thyme and tarragon. That should be our herb garden for the year.

I am also the proud owner of a frangipani hard wood cutting (gift from bro).... I am not sure where I am going to keep it when (if) it starts growing. I may keep it for a while & then gift it to someone when it gets too big. I will keep my eye out for a nice pot for it at the charity shops around and about.

Yes we did, Thai airways via Bangkok's. £1200 for the four of us Shock pil's are back over here for now but will be going back so we will hope to go over again too.

CurlsandCurves · 05/04/2022 09:08

@ememem84 @Unescorted is absolutely correct, it’s a rite of building work passage that one or both of you at some point will freak out and go ‘aargghhh, all this money, what were we thinking?’ . But all will be fine in the end.

Re DS, I think you know when they’re ill and when it’s just a random vomit due to overeating or over excitement. Go with your gut, no pun intended.

DH is clearly listening to the cost of living crisis reports and has increased the weekly shop budget by £20 a week which I’m really pleased about. I know this makes me sound like some kept woman who is grateful for the weekly housekeeping but it’s not like that at all. For some reason we never incorporated food into the joint bills account budget, he’s always just transferred it or given me cash.

£39 to pay off my Next account today and that’s it.

ememem84 · 05/04/2022 10:05

Ds went to nursery. Full of beans. Full of energy. No signs of being I’ll at all. And if he does deteriorate randomly nursery will cal.

Bornlazy · 05/04/2022 10:22

Morning everyone. Lovely to see you back wreck

em when my ds was young he used to frequently have a random vomit through the night if he'd overeaten or post travelling somewhere in the car. I only kept him off if he was still feeling sick or seemed unwell. Hope your ds is ok today.

Unescorted I do a similar Jinx when I buy suntan lotion. In fact the year I got a fabulous bargain on Ultrasun lotion, planning ahead for my summer holiday, we were plunged in to a pandemic 🙈 Lesson learnt there!!!

I have had 3 out of 4 nsd in a row. I've not been feeling 100% so can't face shopping which is a win. Also weather is wild here so no temptation to venture out.

AdoraBell · 05/04/2022 21:52

Fab news, Council tax changed to band E.

NSD, I’ve got Covid. Looks like DH brought it back from his trip to FIL/London Hmm he has been ill since last weekend and tested positive yesterday.

Bornlazy · 05/04/2022 22:08

Oh no Adora hope you're not too bad with it. Good news on the Council Tax.

WreckTangled · 06/04/2022 06:24

Good news on the council tax adora. Have you had Covid before? Hope you're not too unwell.

I need fuel again today. I put in £50 last Friday so it's not even lasted me a week ffs.

lifelongfrugaleer · 06/04/2022 06:40

Hurrah for the council tax, boo for Covid
Fuel is extortion wreck

WreckTangled · 06/04/2022 06:42

It's just so shit. I didn't even go anywhere all weekend, literally didn't leave the house and I got my food shopping delivered as the £3 delivery charge is way cheaper than driving 20 miles to the supermarket. The government need to increase the mileage rate as no way can we carry on like this at work.

Unescorted · 06/04/2022 07:04

Adora I hope you have a super mild version.

I have taken to using the train for work where possible - to be fair I have always enjoyed the train more than the car.

Work are making take short hours to make up for the long hours I put in before year end. It feels very odd - I have another hour in the morning and 3 hours at night if I revert to my contracted hours.

I’m flagging. I am so tired. The weekend took it out of me and now with three nights of broken sleep I’m so looking forward to my bed tonight.

Taytocrisps · 06/04/2022 15:17

Home from my spa day. It was bliss. Although I got very sleepy after my dinner (early start, drive to hotel, totally chill soak in seaweed bath + massage, large meal etc.) and was in bed and asleep before 10 Blush. I mean, it wasn't a crazy hen weekend or anything but even so.... Anyway, it was lovely to see my friends and catch up on their news. Hotel room was €70 each and the treatment was €125 (soak in seaweed bath, foot scrub, body massage and facial. It was quite good value really and would have been a lot more expensive if we'd booked a weekend rather than a Tuesday night. But still an expensive treat obviously. I took today off because DD has an appointment to get a Public Services Card shortly and she has to be accompanied by a parent. Back to reality tomorrow.

Mrsmadevans · 06/04/2022 15:56

Not been on for couple of days , busy with Mum , appts , Doctors and life admin. Managed to get DH car insurance down to 137.15 with Admiral for taking out 6 months house ins next Sept for half the price l paid last year . So that was excellent 😊.
Takes ages though 🙄
Our gas and electric cost us £240 last month just fine the readings . So £60 a week and that's being very careful 🙄
Going to see the play Cluedo tomorrow in Cardiff tickets £48, l think that will be the last tickets we will be buying for a while now though.
Shopping 10 Morrisons .
Tayto that sounded a lovely treat 💐😊
Em hope you get a good nights rest , your poor DH 💐
Life hope your Ds is better soon 💐
Adorabel yay to the council tax 😁 hope you feel better very soon 💐
Unescorted well done in the parking fine 👏👏👏😊
Born hope you feel better soon 💐
Weather is bad here today too raining, windy and cold 🌧️🌬️❄️
Barometers have dropped to rain and stormy 🙄
Hope everyone poorly feels much better soon 😊💐

WreckTangled · 06/04/2022 16:27

£20 fuel. Didn't fill up as had to go to one of the nearer garages and it was £1.70 a litre. Will go to the city Friday and top it up Hmm it's at the point where we're losing money from working.

lifelongfrugaleer · 06/04/2022 18:10

Few spends today on treats for ds to get him to eat £10
Shattered though
I hear ya wreck and wolf in fuel

marthasmum · 06/04/2022 20:19

Good for you unescorted catching up on some time owing
Well done born and wreck on the NSDs
Hope you are feeling ok about the building em, I'm sure it will be great when it's done
Much better news about my DS, he's eating better this week and has actually started doing some revision! I'm holding my breath it carries on.
I'm really skint until DP gets paid on 18th, I've reviewed things again and realised more than I think gets frittered on 'bits and bats' - like cards, odd bits of shopping, presents etc. I always struggle to cut those bits as often they feel like the small social niceties that keep things going - like a tenner for a friend's DS birthday, etc.
on the plus side we are managing the increased bills and saving a small amount, so better off than many.

CurlsandCurves · 06/04/2022 21:01

@AdoraBell hope you’re feeling ok and it’s not too tough for you.

@Taytocrisps spa day sounds lovely, I want one now!

@marthasmum I know what you mean about little spends here and there. I do a big weekly shop but then it’s the little extras when we run out of stuff, or the sudden craving for sushi that I had last week (blaming that on Covid). I definitely think I need to find a way to manage this bit.

lifelongfrugaleer · 07/04/2022 06:59

Yes I know what you mean about bits and the slush fund doesn’t always cover it.
Both dc unwell today . Fml

WreckTangled · 07/04/2022 07:21

Oh no life hope you don't get it too.

I need to buy pizza today because for some reason I only got one in the food shopping (ds has football training on a Thursday so they always have pizza). That'll be it for spends I think.

ememem84 · 07/04/2022 09:22

And dd is off with the sick bug.

I’m at the dr with ds. He’s been complaining of ear pain. So here we are. Dd is home with DH. She did one sick and has seemingly perked up. So
