@lifelongfrugaleer

Interesting reading the if you are comfortable what are you cutting thread. Some people sheesh. However it’s thought provoking imo
Been reading it too Life very interesting how different the members are here and their priorities and lifestyles 👍
ememem84 · 10/03/2022 18:44

That’s why I like this corner of mn. No judgement.

Wolfcub · 10/03/2022 19:28

🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾 North's ds. So happy for him

Will have a read of that thread Life, I read the other one and that was eye opening enough

Feeling absolutely lousy. Hoping it passes quickly

Unescorted · 10/03/2022 19:43

Sorry - been MIA for a bit. yesterday was DDad's funeral. Dying has so much admin attached to it.

Em glad you are making a recovery.

North that is such amazing news. Well done to him.

Born - has he tried different companies? I know some are a amazing and others are shockers. I am assuming it is a trade. Camden I hope his new job is a good one.

I have had a very spendy day (£175) - my wardrobe has been totally changed. I am going for simple naturals in neutral colours. For that I have bought 5 dresses, a jumper, a cute vest, a cardi, 2 skirts, 2 shirts and linen fabric & notations for a jacket and 2 more dresses ( I will use my fabric stash for the linings and facings). The great thing is that I have gone through my wardrobe & found things I had forgotten about.

em absolutely no judgement here!

mrs I was bullied out of my last school by the head - he hated women in particular and was renowned for being deliberately nasty, in his last school I had a friend who ended up with IBS caused by anxiety all around fear of this man.

Bornlazy · 10/03/2022 20:39

north that's fantastic news 🎉 Well done to your ds - well deserved.

Mrs I have always been nice to the student nurses but having a child that's out in the working world has made me so much more compassionate. Every time they do something a bit daft and someone is short with them I think that could be my child. I know they need to learn but they need nurtured rather than bullied.
Gen how awful that, that happened to you - let's hope Karma bites these bullying arseholes firmly on the bum!

Unescorted Flowers hope it went well. We will look at other companies and hopefully something will come up. I'm hoping if he knows he has a definite exit plan that he might perk up a bit.

Mrsmadevans · 10/03/2022 21:01

Unescorted AHH bless you l didn't realize your Dad's funeral was yesterday , l am so sorry.l hope you and your Beloveds found solace in his service 💐
Clothes sound lovely glad you treated yourself 🙂

Mrsmadevans · 10/03/2022 21:10

Wolf hope you feel much better very soon lovely 💐
Gen what a grade 1Asshole , best thing you did was getting out & as for your poor friend that's terrible 💐
Born l know you wouldn't bully anyone bless you. l think it's a lot to do with jealousy of these youngsters coming in , the patients like them imho anyway and they are seen as a burden by some if their mentors because it's extra work when they are short staffed l understand that but it gets to something when they are crying on shift because of the way they are treated . My Dd was exposed to a still birth situation while she was a second year student , the baby nor the Mother weren't treated with the respect they should have been given and my Dd broke her heart over it . Some ppl are just evil.
😤

marthasmum · 10/03/2022 22:14

I've fallen off the thread a bit due to being very busy at work. Have just stopped for the evening.
north fab happy news for your DS
born I'm sorry to hear your DS is having a hard time, it is so hard when they go out in the world. I know what you mean about being more tolerant, I often look at the younger student midwives and think they are only a couple of years older than my DD, and how would I want someone to treat her?
As an ex clinical midwife sadly it's all too true about the bullying and I imagine the nurses and teachers on the thread have insight too. I can say hand on heart I never dished it out but certainly received it. Although my current team are all great.
unescorted I hope your dad's funeral went as well as it possibly could. Good for you with your wardrobe revamp, sounds like you really got your moneys worth.
Other than that the global news really isn't good is it. Il
Was listening to an interview on R4, I don't know if anyone else heard it, with a Russian woman who believed the Ukrainians are bombing themselves. I was literally gobsmacked and so was the interviewer it seemed.

lifelongfrugaleer · 11/03/2022 06:37

Hope you are feeling better today wolf.
Dropping library book back today and will buy lunch as didn’t get to Aldi last night. That’s tonight jon

lifelongfrugaleer · 11/03/2022 06:37

Or job even

CurlsandCurves · 11/03/2022 07:57

It’s awful to hear so many stories of bullying and poor treatment in the workplace. I’ll never understand why people do this.

Bit of a weird one. Had an email from BG re my energy. They say what I’m currently paying is fine and that’s it till my annual review next year?
How can that possibly be true when we all know prices are going to rise dramatically? I don’t get it.

I think I’m going to stick to my original plan of submitting monthly readings to make sure I keep on track. Do not want a nasty shock this time next year.

Work in a bit and a top up of milk and bread needed.

Alfiemoon1 · 11/03/2022 08:37

Hope you feel better today wolf. Hope ddad funeral went ok unescorted.
Have a good day everyone

Timetoswitch · 11/03/2022 08:56

I’ve taken some leave this week to catch up on life admin, nothing awful going on, just loads to do. Six things on the to do list today, unfortunately not quick tasks.

Flowers unescorted

So tricky with finding the right jobs, and yes people can be vile to others in the workplace!

One of my DC got invited to an afterschool event this week. They were totally made up, as they never get invited to these things Smile

Timetoswitch · 11/03/2022 08:57

Well done north DS, he totally deserves it. He’s had a tough time and lovely to hear things are going well for him.

AdoraBell · 11/03/2022 12:32

£17 top up in Sainabury’s.

Timetoswitch · 11/03/2022 14:32

Frugal win today, I chased up an invoice for a bill I thought was outstanding. But actually the company owes me £40!

ememem84 · 11/03/2022 15:18

£140 dunelm. But £80 of that was stuff dm wanted. She’s reimbursing me.

ememem84 · 11/03/2022 15:31

Bought glasses abs cushion covers and cling film. Nothing exciting. 😂

Other spends £18 trampoline park with the kiddos.

Mrsmadevans · 11/03/2022 16:08

Terrible weather here, absolutely tipping down , so dark and drab and freezing cold ! Did shopping for Mumbobs in Morrisons ,they have a lot of offers on atm so their bill was only £38 today . Went to the bank for them then took Mumbobs to the hairdressers which is a Herculeon task, still done it now, just glad to get in the dry , 2 cups of coffee later & watching Crufts Flyball now . Oh the dogs are so enjoying themselves Smile
l don't agree with the terrible breeding issues some breeders have inflicted on some of these poor dogs but l love dogs and so enjoy watching Crufts Smile
Em trampoline park sounds great fun Smile
Martha l couldn't imagine you bullying anyone Smile It is awful what is going on though and think it must feed into the lack of staff in the NHS & teaching . If these students are finishing their course in Uni, passing and then giving up on their career, it just shows there is something wrong and needs to change .
NSD for me yay!

Alfiemoon1 · 11/03/2022 23:50

Weather was rubbish here as well but I’ve just been to pick ds up from work and it’s stopped raining and wasn’t cold
£68 in Morrisons today

lifelongfrugaleer · 12/03/2022 07:22

Poor weather here &92 in Aldi but £25 was a toasty maker

Sainsburys today so &£ more

Gensola · 12/03/2022 08:29

I got soaked to the skin yesterday nipping out of work for a card for someone. Raging! Have a work event today 12-4 which is not ideal, it will be fun but it’s also taking up a big part of the weekend.
Made £60 selling my old dining table, have put that aside for DH birthday dinner in a few weeks.
Our cat has gone off his food and refusing everything but still hungry and begging for food - has anyone got any tips on how to deal with this? Any sure fire cat food successes?!

northender · 12/03/2022 08:36

Weather here is grey & rainy
Study to get done today, food shop and setting up new laptop for mum. May go out with dh tonight for a drink, feel like we need it.
Definitely need to meal plan properly too.
Ds signed the contract for his placement yesterday. It looks like the company are well set up to help him find accommodation which ideally would be a shared house. Once we know how much that's likely to cost, we'll decide whether we want to subsidise it at all. He'll be earning a decent wage but don't want him to have to spend a huge chunk on rent. He opted into the pension scheme which is a good one and is going to get a lifetime ISA to start paying into.
We have a big, long planned holiday coming up very soon so need to do some list writing this weekend and see what gaps there are in my hot weather wardrobe.
