I've started buying loo roll, hand soap, teabags and porridge oats in bulk. Nice knowing we won't run out for a while. Any ideas or current deals welcome- I have Prime but not Costco membership

You can't stack the wgac referral and discount. The discount works out at about £8 off so is better value

MrsSkylerWhite · 23/01/2022 11:38

Flours and loo paper.

tulips27 · 23/01/2022 11:44

I don't because I don't have a car. I know I could save a lot if I did have a car by doing what others mentioned, e.g. bulk buying branded jars on offer etc.

Cookerhood · 23/01/2022 11:45

I think the WGAC loo paper is awful. Crumbly on your nethers. We use Costco but appreciate that's only relevant if you are a member. We also have a Booker card & buy things in bulk there - rice, pasta, coffee, tinned tomatoes, chicken breasts (freeze them individually on a baking sheet & freeze in a bag), washing powder, fabric conditioner, cleaning supplies.

@fortheloveofcheesecake The bamboo is much better!

WhiteJellycat · 23/01/2022 11:57

We use Costco for massive packs of laundry power and conditioner

@ItWillBeDone Thank you!

I prefer the recycled WGAC.

AdoraBell · 24/01/2022 22:57

I usually do the same as Ariela

Gazelda · 24/01/2022 23:01

I try to bulk buy to save plastic/packaging.

Big packs of loo rolls, litre bottles of shampoo, 5litres of washing up liquid, ditto rinse aid, giant boxes of washing powder, catering tins of coffee etc.

I tend to buy through cash back site when the retailer has a bonus cash back rate, so even more economical.

And always shop for free delivery.

Cecilia2016 · 24/01/2022 23:39

I always buy in bulk
Toilet paper
Hand paper towels
Hand wash
Fabric softener
Laundry detergent
Tea bags
Bin bags
Tooth paste
Deodorant
Cereals
Pasta
Washing up liquid
Shower gel
I have a Costco membership card

Passthecake30 · 25/01/2022 06:36

@Gazelda where do you buy the large bottles of rinse aid? Thanks

CookieDoughKid · 29/01/2022 09:10

I used to subscribe to the method of buying in bulk but have stopped. I buy large shampoo and shower bottles in tkmaxx for convenience. I now prefer to buy what I need and clear my fridge and cupboards empty as much as I can before buying more. I think that keeping stuff in a dead money. Instead, of buying bulk, I now invest it as well as pay off mortgage. . Last year my investments went up by 18% and any payments off my mortgage saves me thousands in long run.

CookieDoughKid · 29/01/2022 09:13

So what I'm saying is, instead of buying in bulk, use that money elsewhere. But I appreciate it's not easy and there are still good arguments to buying in bulk.

Oblomov22 · 29/01/2022 09:28

I try to never run of anything and have at least 3 of everything, buying 6 packs or 2 x 4 packs of tinned tomatoes, baked beans, kidney beans, coconut milk. Coffee pods. Buy shampoo, shower gel, washing powder, gel pods, conditioner, dishwasher tabs. From sainsbury, Iceland, Costco, whenever it's on at a good price.

LonglegsMumtheBlacksmith · 29/01/2022 09:35

I used a certain type of sanitary towel and found it was often out of stock when my weekly shop was delivered- I was so happy to discover that I could buy four months worth in one go and a lot cheaper too!
We also buy hand soap, shower gel, shampoo teabags and hand sanitizer in bulk. Mainly because we like certain brands and they have been regularly out of stock, but also the price tends to be better per unit.
I really miss the yellow sticker action now that I get a weekly shop delivered! Our freezer has suffered 😂

MrsLargeEmbodied · 29/01/2022 09:44

occasional tin of coffee

i have seen the huge bags of teabags and considered it

PrivateParty · 30/01/2022 15:26

I buy in bulk for some things sometimes. Just depends if packs/boxes have a price drop on amazon. But I have bought stuff like box of 6 hand-wash/hand cream/anti-bac spray/dog chews etc

SalsaLove · 30/01/2022 15:33

We buy Carex hand soap in a 5l container and then dispense into glass jar pumps in the kitchen and bathroom. Saves on plastic hand wash dispensers.

LostThePot · 30/01/2022 15:35

Where do you all bulk buy from if it’s not CostCo?

teabags, pet food, toothpaste, shower gels - when there's an offer on

BrokenCopper · 30/01/2022 18:00

Yes, only bog rolls (1 x biggest pack) from amazon and washing liquid even years BEFORE the pandemic! I am a panic buyer all of a sudden.

ReadySteadyTwins · 30/01/2022 18:07

Sorry, how are you all saving money on WGAC? Just looked at their bamboo option. 24 rolls, delivered every 8 weeks, at £26 a go. So that's just over £1 a roll.

Lidl quilted paper. £1.55 for 9 rolls. Really nice.

It's not far off, for one roll at WGAC, to get 9 at Lidl?!

Snugglepumpkin · 30/01/2022 18:15

Pretty much everything (including paper, sellotape, underwear etc.. not just food or household toiletry/laundry/cleaning stuff) that isn't fresh food but I've been doing it for years & have everything set up to store it.

The price of food etc.. goes up enough that I save more by doing it than I would get leaving the money in the bank.
I can also wait months for a special offer to restock.
e.g.
Last time I restocked coffee it was £2 on special offer, now it's up to £7+ full price & £4 on offer but I still have at least 6 months worth at £2 a time saving myself at least £1 a week just on that one thing.

I'll probably get some more at £4 as I don't see it going down below that any time this year.
