How much do you pay for sky tv?

Lou0219 · 21/01/2019 21:23

We current pay £120 for sky tv, multiroom & £40 for broadband. The broadband is included in the £120 I think this is way too high. What packages do you have & how much do you pay?

Thanks in advance

Did they get you to sign a new contract though when they offered you a lower price? Thank you

I pay £14 for sky broadband and like rental for 18 months and no tv, but I use now tv for entertainment, Netflix for films and £3.99 kids app from now tv works out less than £30.

anitagreen · 21/01/2019 23:46

@Lou0219 no they don't if your midway through, my grandparents was paying £70 a month for entertainment and sports and kids seemed a lot I rang them this weekend and they've taken £30 off the bill,
I also haggled with mine when I had everything from £140 to £63 didn't have to sign back up for months as I was half way through my contract, however I did leave at the end of it.

kazwelch · 21/01/2019 23:57

I got Sky Q, phone, internet, entertainment & On Demand for £50 a month.

I cancelled completely. Was probably without sky for a few months before they called me and asked what it would take to get me back. I said a laptop, didn't get 1 but did get a years free sky so that worked for me. Hold your nerve, we have a lot of choice these days so sky need to work to keep us!

CarrieBlu · 22/01/2019 00:02

Following this with interest as we’re looking at cancelling Sky too...

FlyingMonkeys · 22/01/2019 00:02

I pay £20 internet £7.99 now tv £9.99 now tv movies. I like that there's no contract with it.

vintagebella · 26/01/2019 10:26

I also have NOW TV. BB is £20 a month with Sky but when that ends in April I'll switch to Plusnet for whatever offer they have at the time. I have Now Tv which cos £99 for 12 months of entertainment package plus 12 months Sky cinema. They do this offer every year around November. I also have Netflix still at £5.99 pm and a student Prime for £39 the year. We don't have normal tv though as we don't have an aerial. We had to buy a Now tv box for the guest room and a Roku for the main tv. There's a lot of different ways of having TV and the entertainment packages but I don't think a contract with SKY is the most cost effective.

£55 a month for entertainment, sports, movies, box sets, HD, phone and broadband

cloud1183 · 27/01/2019 11:52

£58 for everything except sports inc phone and unlimited fibre bb. I’ve never paid full price as I always threaten to cancel or haggle just before my contract ends

Lazypuppy · 29/01/2019 20:50

Are you just on a rolling mothly rate now or hqve you switched back to another 12/18month contract? Its always cheaper to be on contract.

We have entertainment i think (boxsets) with sports, hd and broadband and pay £42 a month. Kids or mo ies would cost an extra £5 a month if we wanted to add them on

Lou0219 · 29/01/2019 21:25

Hi we are not in a contract. I won’t sigh another contract as theylll only reduce it from £120 to £90 it’s still a lot of money x

We pay £55 to sky for phone which we don't connect broadband and TV including all sky sports channels in HD . I would ask to leave to go to Virgin, set up with virgin arrange date etc then they will ring you offering a deal. I got Virgin then sky ringing so much trying to undercut each other until I got that deal I had to tell them to stop ringing me

Lazypuppy · 29/01/2019 21:43

@Lou0219 no wonder its so expensive. Goigle sky deals, guarantee you'll find at least a 40% off something.

When you ring ask to be put through to retention team, theyhave best deals

Orangecake123 · 31/01/2019 20:00

About £36. Just basic channels, phone and internet. We were paying a crazy £70 a month before.

MrsJamin · 31/01/2019 20:07

If anyone wants a friends and family deal, pm me!

Fairylea · 31/01/2019 20:09

Wow that is expensive! But I guess it depends how much you use it / like it.

We just have freesat and Netflix and if there’s a particular film we want to see we rent it from Rakuten (you download the app and can chromecast it over to the tv). It’s £4’ish per film.

theworldistoosmall · 31/01/2019 20:11

I was paying £68 a month for fibre, line and everything excluding movies and sports. Plus multiroom.
I pay £15 a month now for fibre and line rental from them.
£9.99 a month Netflix
£3.34 a month amazon (student discount)
Plus of course, I save from not needing a license.

They offered me £15 a month when I called to cancel the channels, and whilst on the phone she looked at how I could save money.

theworldistoosmall · 31/01/2019 20:15

And tbh getting rid of channels was the best thing we did. I did think we would miss it.
Plus not having to remember to record stuff!!
When I cancelled, of course, I knew I could go back to them or someone else. But it was amazing how quickly forgot about tv. Plus the endless adverts regardless of products or programs are a thing of the past.

snop · 31/01/2019 20:21

We was paying nearly £100 a month, cancelled it before Xmas and tbh we haven't even missed it, I got now tv the entertainment pack at £7.99 per month and just watch that and Netflix

Princesspond · 31/01/2019 20:33

Sky are like bloody double glazing salesmen. The key to haggling is not to care about leaving. Ring them up and they will pass you to retention team who will offer a cheaper deal (but not their best). Hold your nerve and cancel, within days they will write offering a much better deal (in my case 50% less).

However, hang on until it is disconnected within two days they rang and offered it back for free for 3 months (with no contract) then £16 a month (basic package).

Trouble is after a year they hike it up and you have to go through whole palaver again! I’ve just cancelled again with Netflix prime and catch up I don’t think I’ll miss it.

unicornsarereal1 · 31/01/2019 20:34

I pay £5 for my broadband and £12 for the tv with them.

Each time I call and give my 31 days notice - they put me through to retentions I decline their offer.
After about 2 weeks they call me with an offer - I decline.
They hen out an offer on the services section of the Sky tv - I don't accept it

Finally I go onto the online chat and speak to someone that's when I get a good deal Smile

slimthinpin · 01/02/2019 16:46

I'm constantly shocked by the amount ppl pay for TV packages.

I pay £5.99 pm for Netflix and £10 pm for landline / broadband combined.

I don't have a TV license - just watch catchup on apps like c4 (except iplayer) and use Netflix.

Bargain basement but keeps me totally entertained!

When some ppl tell me they pay £100 pm or more I am amazed.
