Nope life nothing has come up for a couple of weeks now. So not sure if the dream of having moved by the new school year will be realised!

When are you due again roughly meadow? Sorry about the anxiety, so frustrating that it’s taking so long to see someone.

Cagliostro · 14/05/2018 20:24

And yes poor DS north that really sucks :( not surprised you are upset too.

Unescorted · 14/05/2018 20:45

north that is terrible timing. Hopefully it is short lived and doesn't impact too much. Good luck for tomorrow.
Meadow if it is any comfort DD did a summersault the night before we were due for a C section and then didn't engage until after my waters broke. Felt like the worst trapped wind ever. We went on to have a normal delivery.
Lonely I am so excited... The rocket and a runner bean have germinated. It is working. I have to buy my bean a stick. I am going to have good life dreams..... Like wet dreams by dirtier.

Sea I was worried that you were over doing things with your talk of housework and car picking up until I got to your Netflix and chocolate combo....good call.
Em hows the hangover? Or is it just me who has been that last for days.
Scarlet I love your saving posts because it keeps me on track.
Laska are you on holiday? And how is your DS getting on?

I am currently learning about biology.... courtesy of a revision tutorial.

lifelongfrugaleer · 14/05/2018 21:03

Hope your ds picks up soon north.
Ah that's a shame cag.
First babies don't always engage until the end don't they? How's the anxiety meadow?

lifelongfrugaleer · 14/05/2018 21:05

I've guesstimate that the house will cost £90k to do to how we want it possibly more. Which means offering £120k under the asking price.
Would be perfect for someone who is a trades man.

ememem84 · 14/05/2018 21:17

unescorted all good thanks. I drank loads of water last night and again today. Feel loads better!

Unescorted · 14/05/2018 21:22

cag that is frustrating for you.

Life offer £120 if you want it. The worst that happens is that they say no. Unless you are offering on the house next door. That could be awkward.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 14/05/2018 21:39

north that's rotten timing for your ds, hope the antibiotics kick in really quickly.

scarlett I really like your posts, they make me think even more carefully about money!

meadow have you tried mindfulness or meditation for the anxiety? I got myself some cds to try when I was suffering and they def helped.

I've had a busy day at work, got a new student who seems nice. Have managed a Nsd.

savingin2018welltryingto · 14/05/2018 21:53

Hi all,

As I've just rudely interrupted your thread, I thought I should probably introduce myself.

So DH and I bought our first house a couple of years ago now. Before we did we were amazing savers, it took a long time but we did it. We then of course we spent money doing it up and now here we are a few years down the line managing to fritter money away so I decided that we had to put a stop to it and get back on the wagon. We started noting everything from last month's payday and here we are.

It's so, so helpful to note things down, I've tried doing spreadsheets with x spend for x but that never worked - like a faddy diet. I've also set a goal (something for the house) which I've found helps. We are trying to put a round number into the savings which means there's not much room for spending this week - much like above the round number feels much better!

So thank you for accepting me and I look forward to getting to know you all!

savingin2018welltryingto · 14/05/2018 21:53

Ahh, my paragraphs didn't come out! Sorry.

ememem84 · 14/05/2018 22:31

I’m nack on the savings front scarlet well trying anyway. I need to build mine up again. Payday on Monday. First payday since 21 December! And first proper “I worked for this” payday since I went on maternity leave!!! Crazy.

Am challenging myself to do no bought lunches until Monday. Which I should be able to do. And then allocating myself 4 bought lunches a month. So either once a week from payday to payday or all in the first week or whatever. But only 4.

And spends of £200 a month. That’s it. That covers my riding lessons. Nails and beauticians. For me the essentials. Everything else will be saved.

CremeEggThief · 14/05/2018 23:01

Welcome all newbies and welcome back, returners.😊

Spends: £6.50 bus fare and £2.50 M&S.

ChristmasSeacow · 14/05/2018 23:45

I have totally knackered my back. All I was doing was swirling the water in DD’s bath and it suddenly went. Fortunately DH was just 5 mins from home because once I’d staggered the 6m to my bed I was stuck, with dd roaming on the bathroom floor. It is agony. I’ve been flat out all evening, DH had to help me to the bathroom before bed. I can’t turn over. I don’t think I can look after the kids tomorrow so DH will have to take time off. It’s just a bit of a nightmare Sad

Cag and Meadow glad you are still with us!

SunnyLikeThursday · 15/05/2018 05:44

Christmas I think that's your body giving you a heavy hint that it's had enough for now. Is there any chance that you can just cancel as many things as possible and batten down the hatches for a bit?

lifelongfrugaleer · 15/05/2018 06:31

Ouch Christmas, hope it's a bit better this morning

WreckTangled · 15/05/2018 07:11

Oh no sea I hope it's feeling a bit better this morning.

Another day another bird brought it by WreckCat. Third day in a row he was only outside for thirty seconds.

Might need fuel today think I've only got 180 miles left.

LonelyOversharer · 15/05/2018 07:13

seacow it doesn't rain but it pours. Is this new or on old thing that goes once in a while? If it's sudden like that possibly a spasm (unbelievably painful) or a squished nerve (cannot move without searing pain). Poor you, and super well done to your lovely dc's for not causing mayhem while dh got home. I hope it eases off enough to get seen, and some proper painkillers sought. Flowers x

Quiet night here, bar the cat trying to get me to feed him at 0230. I pretended to be asleep! Aiming for no real spends today, but have to post loads of ebay stuff. I have money in paypal to cover this.

SnugglySnerd · 15/05/2018 07:27

Ow Seacow! Hope it feels better soon.

Should be NSD today. I just missed some nice trainers on eBay last night but they were a want not a need so I guess that's a saving!

Dd1 is very challenging at the moment. She cannot accept being asked to stop doing something eg climbing on furniture. She's hurt herself twice over the weekend and I just lost my temper with her. I feel awful now as shouting isn't the answer and just made her cry but it's exhausting to be patient and give choices allowed the time! Hopefully the rest of the day will be better.

ChristmasSeacow · 15/05/2018 09:20

I think a squished nerve Lonely. I can just about stand up and shuffle but the pain is awful when I move. I hope I haven’t slipped a disc or anything. I can’t decide whether to bother the GP today or wait a day or two to see if it gets better anyway. They can’t do much about it anyway.

DH is currently on the school run. I am trying to work up to having a shower - luckily we have a separate shower cubicle as I definitely couldn’t step over into a bath today!

WreckTangled · 15/05/2018 09:59

Seacow would a muscle relaxant help? Or maybe gabapentin if it's a nerve?

MissingMo · 15/05/2018 10:29

Sorry to hear about your back @Sea. Here's hoping it gets better soon bit I agree it's a sign to slow down. I haven't thought about whether she can shovel food in. Even cereal she eats by hand.
@Snuggly you're just doing your job as a good mum. I wouldn't feel bad. It's not an everyday occurrence.

Planning a nsd today. Just doing the washing. Chilling at home. Will see dsis later. A nice walk in the good weather.

SnugglySnerd · 15/05/2018 10:30

How is it only half ten? It feels like at least lunchtime!

Can you take anti inflammatories, Seacow?

mammynowanauntyIRL · 15/05/2018 10:33

Just noticed this morning that my roll on deodorant is coming to an end so have turned it upside down to get last bit from it. I bought this in December because I remember that I dumped my last one when visiting Birmingham in late November and promptly broke cap on the replacement one I bought so had to purchase again in December. Six months for a roll on that cost me approx €1.49 and was used daily is pretty good value Grin thinking I could get a more luxurious one this time seeing as it lasts so long Grin

seacow how are you doing now?

TheHodgeoftheHedge · 15/05/2018 11:12

Hey lovely people! Another one here asking if it's ok to join?

We're desperately trying to save to buy a house but I just seem to keep haemorrhaging money! I'm also struggling with somewhere to save to actually make my money do anything!

LonelyOversharer · 15/05/2018 11:55

£9 posting 1st lot of ebay stuff, another 5 things to go later. Must sort out the 3 big items to go by courier today as well.

I actually feel a bit sick. My long term 0% balance cc has clearly come to the end of it's 0%. So in a swish I have gone from a comfy payment to only just scraping it. I think it's time I looked at a next step. What is that, an IVA? Must do some google. I need a decent job (still no luck on that front), what do I do? Just put my big girl pants on and go to the job center?

I do wish I'd found you lot 4 years ago and reigned in my spending then. But I didn't and now I have to sort this mess out. A head in the sand approach does not work. I wish it did as I am good at that.
