Yy to Bosch but check prices at John Lewis

SunnyLikeThursday · 09/04/2018 07:21

That's quite a week Christmas. Glad you're home.

I think you're right about classical music in cambridge. I just checked and it seems to be an every-day thing. I may have a plan for school hours. LOL!

I would go Bosch too.

Sea yuck! If there's one thing I can't deal with it's sick, dh always has to do that Grin

I made banana cupcakes last Monday will they still be ok? They've been overlooked with all the Easter eggs about!

We haven't got any plans today might go and see my grandparents.

Loveabaconsandwich · 09/04/2018 07:39

Yesterday £15 McDonald’s

I am excitedly awaiting our trip to ikea on Wednesday.

Yuck to the projectile vomit seacow. At least it wasn’t in the car on the way home. I’m also excited to hear your front door update later Smile

Work today and then three days off for the holidays. Suppose I better get out of bed to go to work!

Couldn’t really fault AO either girlie. We did have some grumbly delivery men who brought in our fridge/freezer but the space to get in was very tight and they were almost right it wouldn’t fit in but were not

SunnyLikeThursday · 09/04/2018 08:55

I'm with you on that Wreck. It's not my strong suit. I wonder if Christmas's attitude might be catching? I could do with some of it.

I just found out that our Mothercare store is closing in June. Extortionately high rents in our high street apparently.

I’ve said to dh I might pop in and buy 9-12 clothes for ds. And some more 6-9. Once that goes we’ll be left with next (which is good admittedly) M&S (limited kids clothing) joules (spendy) and JoJo (lovely but spendy).

Today is my penultimate full day with ds. Tomorrow we start nursery induction. We might go swimming.

I need to go to the gym and see if they’ve got my membership card - I used the gym on Thursday and had card with me got home and didn’t have it. So somewhere between gym-car- Home I dropped it. Sigh.

SunnyLikeThursday · 09/04/2018 09:08

The mothercare in my parents' town has just closed too. I suppose it's all the undercutting from online shops really. I get all ds's clothes through click and collect from M&S and Next, and never bought anything from Mothercare, so I can see how they might be struggling. When ds was tiny, tesco was the best as he was immensely tall and they were the only ones that did babygrows up to age 3. LOL!

Thanks for the ao recommendations, I like bosch as well my current machine is a bosch and has done well really. I will keep an open mind though, there are some Candy ones that look good, have good reviews etc. That said have got a washing machine repair man coming out tomos on my lunch break to have a look and see if it's worth fixing. ...

Dd has gone off to school much to her disgust!!

My plan today is to go for a short run (have eaten way wayyyy too many easter eggs!!) Take a load of washing to my mums and do a Morrisons shop, going on a bit of a health kick so planning on getting lots of healthy green stuff to make up for my diet being at least 50% chocolate based for the last week 😂

lifelongfrugaleer · 09/04/2018 09:28

I replaced my Bosch tumble dryer with a candy and it's fine

WreckTangled · 09/04/2018 09:41

We've got another week of Easter holidays here. We're going to see my grandparents in a minute.

Our mothercare closed too, I never bought clothes from there really as they were pricey.

lifelongfrugaleer · 09/04/2018 09:44

Our Mothercare closed ages ago, overpriced and poor customer service imo. The feeding room stunk too.

£39 in sainsbury more watching the new Star wars dvd.

Swimming later - free, opticians - free, hof - vouchers.

Are clothes dyes with it? Hand wash or machine. Some of my summer trousers are faded but they fit lovely so I was thinking of dylon ing them. Any thoughts?

lifelongfrugaleer · 09/04/2018 09:45

Us too wreck. I think the cakes will be fine with custard or 10 s in a microwave to freshen them

Cagliostro · 09/04/2018 09:46

Our mothercare shut at new year, right after I started needing it again 😡😂 I did get some clothes but I wish I’d gone in sooner as they sold super fast. Thankfully the one in my home town is still going strong for now so I can pop in when I visit my parents. Does your Boots not do baby clothes BTW? I love their mini mode stuff.

I am actually putting in a mothercare order soon as we finally need to get her a proper bed, she’s outgrowing her Moses basket. Going for a cotbed for longevity.

Cagliostro · 09/04/2018 09:49

I mean with the mothercare sale I bought clothes. I agree they are on the pricey side normally. I am trying to be organised and only get things in sales generally.

Fluffy is the clothes dye expert!

ememem84 · 09/04/2018 09:51

life I dye things fairly often. I need to get some charcoal colour to dye the towels I’ve bleached. Oops.

I dyed dsis’ black jeans a while back - she was too scared to do it in case her machine went black. It was fine.

The issue I (and a lot of others here) have with Mothercare closing is that it’s the cheapest place with the best range to buy basics. Vests etc. We don’t have the supermarkets (Sainsbury’s Tesco Morrison’s), we don’t have H&M or primark (and can’t get them delivered here).

We can order online from certain places but it’s no good if you need things next day as that doesn’t happen here. But. Must be more organised or take a trip to the uk and bulk buy things in various ages a couple of times a year!

ememem84 · 09/04/2018 09:52

They do cag but not a great selection.

ChristmasSeacow · 09/04/2018 10:46

I find with Boots clothes they have a much bigger selection online than in any store, even the big Oxford st one.

I love our mothercare but then I am near their massive shiny flagship store on the north circular. They have a Costa and soft play and all. I like some of their stuff, defo vests etc. Cag gets the nice bits afterwards Wink.

I have a big hole at the front of my house. It is quite cold in here now. Dd won’t/can’t nap and DS is anxious so screeching a lot. It will all be worth it though!

I sent my Candy washing machine back after 4 days and got a Bosch. I kept the candy dryer though, it’s okay.

SunnyLikeThursday · 09/04/2018 12:16

That's amazing that you don't have those supermarkets Em. I had no idea. What supermarkets do you have?

We're on our last day of holiday and ds and I just had a mooch in the shops, which was nice. My head is slightly less full from my ASD interview last week. It took a lot of thinking.

The journal Nature are doing a call for commentary on depression and anxiety amongst young scientists, which I think it really long overdue. I'm glad to see it. I really wish they could bring about change in the career structure for scientists.

I so much wish that the Royal Society was here on Mumsnet, listening to all the stuff we are figuring out about child health, and autism and whathaveyou. It's a damn shame that all this good thinking does not end up in the published literature.

Dd has just circled a million things in the boden catalogue that she likes, not gonna happen!

SunnyLikeThursday · 09/04/2018 14:00

I have that catalogue Wreck but I don't dare to open it.

NSD.

life Dylon is very good. Often cheaper in wilko than anywhere else.

SnugglySnerd · 09/04/2018 14:14

Most cake would be dry but edible Wreck but I always find banana cake goes mouldy quickly so I would inspect it carefully before eating.

ememem84 · 09/04/2018 14:36

FFS. I was just in town but forgot to get dye. Buggerit.

Spends £28 Mothercare on vests, sleepsuits and a super cute dinosaur tahirt for ds.

£8.90 in super hipster coffee shop on two flat whites and a sweet potato falafel haloumi wrap (I had the wrap and a coffee dh the other coffee). Coffee was £3 a go. Delicious though.

£4.50 at the farmers market. On a huge bag of apples bag of pears and some bananas. The lady was super nice and was chatting to ds she asked what I wanted the apples and pears for (to purée for him) and dug me out some which admittedly were last their best for just eating but still good. Filled up my shopper with fruit.

Booked a hair cut and colour for next week

sunny we have co-op (but it’s channel Islands co-op, different business to mainland co-op), M&S food (a franchise run by local company) Tesco (franchise run by local company) and Waitrose (which I think is standalone Waitrose not a franchise). We’re getting Morrison’s but it’s a franchise and it won’t do the clothes.

I completely forgot about clothes online from boots! Duh.

Also dsis is back from her trip. Her flight landed in the uk at 6am and her flight home was due to get in at 12. But fog. So she’s just arrived home now. She has a suitcase full of primark stuff for ds. Hoorah! (This is why we treat her - she spoils him rotten!)

SunnyLikeThursday · 09/04/2018 14:56

That's really interesting Em. It's so different there. Oddly, we have everything here, but I still buy all the clothes online. Partly because I am very tall, so nothing is in stock in shops. But also because though we have a shop of each type, they have very little stock, and everything has to be ordered in.

We go home tomorrow. Nearly time to start packing now, and just time for one more evensong before we go.
