Bumped into an old friend who suggested we went for a coffee - didn't want to miss the chance of a catch up even though I am trying to avoid unnecessary coffees out - however when I went to pay delighted to find I had enough on my 'loyalty card' for a free coffee - even though I rarely visit that particular coffee shop anymore Grin.

ivykaty44 · 13/01/2018 17:11

Well stopped on Marylebone high street and was treated to coffee and tart - so far 😊 NSD

Tonight is all paid for and tomorrow we will have a late breakfast so lunch will be covered...

£20 on pe trainers for ds Confused but saved lots on my car by buying a part and dp doing it. £15 rather than £150 or more.

PollyShelbyLifeCoachServices · 13/01/2018 19:32

NSD! Same tomorrow and Monday Yey!😃

madamefraser · 13/01/2018 19:34

Just joining if that's ok as things are going from ok to rubbish and still 10 days to pay day ! Was doing sort of ok and budgeted well for Christmas but then £400 gone on the car in 24 hoursSad. Need a no spend Jan and a no spend Feb to get on track ...

PollyShelbyLifeCoachServices · 13/01/2018 19:51

Elvis- gutted for you hope your car is sorted soon!

PollyShelbyLifeCoachServices · 13/01/2018 19:53

Hi Madam!
Frustrating isn't it, i was all fired up and on target and then work are reducing my hours, gotta keep on keeping on eh? Good luck with everything and welcome to this awesome thread....

elvislives2012 · 14/01/2018 07:24

Yup I'm going to do a no spend feb too. Think I'll be doing it for a few months to get out of the debt

ivykaty44 · 14/01/2018 07:57

Day 13 was a NSD though rather a late night, but great fun.

I’m going to see January out and February I’m doing cash only, get out cash for week based on weekly spends in January on essentials

Once the cash is gone - it’s gone

So making savings in the essentials will make the cash go further 🤨

Just looking thru my spending for the year and every time I got a large bill for the car it had to go on credit. This is the first time I've paid out of my debit card! Hurrah NSD

MessySurfaces · 14/01/2018 10:00

Elvis that's big!!!
ESOD days for me both yesterday and today (groceries but nothing else). I'm hoping for a few genuine NSDs next week...

FaithEverPresent · 14/01/2018 12:05

That is awesome elvis! Just think, you’ve not only saved money for the car, you’ve saved money by not using the credit - future proofing for minimal spending. That is fantastic!

I’ve failed on the NS by taking DD out to lunch in town, could have brought a pick up I guess! She doesn’t need new school shoes get though so that’s £30 less!

champagneplanet · 14/01/2018 12:14

Not quite an NSD yesterday, did weeks food shop, spent £60 in Aldi for two adults, DD (6) and baby DD so not bad at all.

Did buy myself a bottle of gin Blush but that was out of christmas money and we ate at home all day yesterday, we normally have at least one meal out/takeaway at the weekend so doing well there.

Only other spend was new ballet tights for DD, cost £4 from ebay instead of the £8 that the dance teacher wanted!

Going to visit BIL and family today so will be a NSD.

Keep going all Smile

Itis6oclocksomewhere · 14/01/2018 12:38

Day 12 was a NSD, but yesterday I spent on lunch and car parking when I popped to the shops. Managed to do what I needed to do in an hour and resisted all the sales that were beckoning me in!
This week should be fairly low in terms of spending, although I have got to do my tax return. Just can't seem to get the motivation to sit down and get on with it!

madamefraser · 14/01/2018 14:42

Thanks for the welcome Polly this next 9 days are going to be hard till my pay day ! It's essentials only (food travel and pre organised DDs ) and nothing else. My teenage daughter spent £40 on a pair of jeans yesterday out of my account! I'm making her return them, she didn't even ask!

madamefraser · 14/01/2018 14:43

Needless to say PayPal password changed!

ivykaty44 · 14/01/2018 16:03

I’ve spent today 🙃 coffee out at Marylebone but used nectar points to get “tea” for train home

So far this month I’ve had 2 NSD and spent a grand total of £6.20

Tomorrow will be another NSD as no need to spend

Wow ivy, that is good going.

Since I last posted I've not had a true 0 spend day & £24 which is over half on definite non essentials, not that a good:
Thursday: spent 85p on essential coriander (ok arguably not essential but made dinner complete)
Friday: had to go to Tesco for some cream to go with pudding, also bought lottery ticket so £2 non essential
Saturday: £2 on party bag fillers for DS party next weekend but also £4ish on treaty food, £6 on beer in brewery with a friend and £10 on some beers to take home
Today: £2 on bribe smoothies for kids, £5 more online on more gear for DS party next weekend

twinkledag · 14/01/2018 21:14

Ivy you're doing amazingly!

Mines all gone to pot with birthday but lunch packed for tomorrow so back on track 👍🏾

PirateYellowbelly · 14/01/2018 22:23

Ivy you are doing so well. My self discipline has been somewhat lacking over the weekend. Spent £16 on cafe lunch out today (when we had planned to eat at home) and spent money on parking both yesterday and today. Also had to fork out about £100 on clothes for DS who has had a growth spurt and basically needed new uniform as well as new jeans etc. I did resist spending anything on myself so I guess that's a plus point.

AdoraBell · 14/01/2018 22:33

NSD Friday, Saturday and a Sunday. Tomorrow I need to return shoes, finally settled on a pair from pre 1st shopping.

twinkledag · 15/01/2018 15:58

I went into GAP, picked up some clothes for my niece then put them back down again. I was only buying them cause they were cheap not that they were really needed!

PollyShelbyLifeCoachServices · 15/01/2018 16:10

Madam good for you making her return them. Years ago my son whacked my debit card fir £62.00 on iTunes over several months just after the twins were born off my debit card, guess who used his spending money to pay it all back😒 joys of teenagers eh? NSD yesterday and today, tomorrow too through til Friday cos I'm back at work. Done washing, walked dog and looked for job (read played scrabble all day long really😃 I'm a little bit addicted, but its free😀.....Elvis well done on car, massive not getting into debt for it. It's gonna be q no spend 2018 for me at this rate!

FaithEverPresent · 15/01/2018 16:57

I’m still fairly on track. I’ve spent £9 today on some eggs and veg (from the lovely farm shop) and a sympathy card Confused

I need to tot up expenses. We still end up getting too much from the co-op instead of the Tesco shop but we will see how it goes at the end of January. We definitely have loads more money in the bank than we normally would this time of the month! I’m still proud of myself for going to the city centre and only buying what I set out to buy yesterday!

drspouse · 15/01/2018 17:49

Supermarket just now, only a few top up items including the yellow sticker section!
Did get a coffee (waiting for DD pick up time) and a packet of blu tack (69p!). None of them as expensive as the bus fare (got on earlier than normal = £1 more).

I've just looked up how to make hair elastics for DD and I don't need to buy anything!
