Getting used to new phone. Camera seems quite good for the price so that's a pleasant surprise!

I think I'll have to start wrapping soon. Will be harder to have marathon wrapping sessions with a clingy baby!

Still no idea about the big shared Santa present. Must be our last year as DD1 is 10. No Playmobil this year, last year they got a marble run. It's always something built and ready to play.

Dd's birthday cake, carrot cake with cream cheese frosting as requested. Another Mary Berry triumph Smile

Gah! Forgot about booking Tesco Xmas slot. I meant to do that this morning. Going out in a minute so it'll have to wait until later and hope there's some left.

Fluffycloudland77 · 26/11/2017 13:42

You can't beat Mary berry. It looks delicious.

Happy birthday to your little boy wreck.

I never understood companies not delivering to the Channel Islands em, it's not like the residents wouldn't pay a bit extra willingly in courier charges. Your not any great distance from the mainland.

£3 superdrug Glycolic pads. 5% cashback. Woo hoo.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 26/11/2017 14:09

Lovely evening out last night, love a Nandos and think everyone else did as well. Only ending up spending £7 is as mum gave me some money for the food so was just drinks.

Today we did the jar parkrun this morning, I managed to slip over on some ice Blush bruised my thigh and pride slightly but otherwise o.kay. Also been to a Christmas fair and got a few bits and pieces, think have spent £15 ish.

Quiet afternoon now, need to catch up at home...

LonelyOversharer · 26/11/2017 14:12

life my lot missed the our generation stuff. Thank goodness! Dp has bought dd3 a phone for christmas. Brilliant as 1. She wants to download music and it's tricky on her fire without subscribing 2. She's nearly 10 (phone rule) and dd1 and 2 will be cross with dp and not me! 3. Big pressie sorted without me paying for it!

We have fitted the door back onto the shed. It's been off and lying in the garden for 5 years, it's the houses original back door, so about 90 years old. It just fitted in the frame, perfectly. Go figure. Cladding coming on tuesday, and we'll cover the roof tomorrow. Then I can lay the floor.

wreck carrot cake is always a winner. I have a fantastic recipie that I've tweaked, which uses oil. But I use a lot of Mary Berry recipies. You never need to tweak her instructions.

Just about to watch the grand prix.

needastrongone · 26/11/2017 16:17

em, DD loves the Jack Wills joggers too.

lonely, I’ve just made your flapjack but not tasted it yet. It looks good so fingers crossed.

Happy Birthday to wreck DS.

Cake looks incredible north.

NSD

Stupidly hard XC race this morning so I’m knackered.

Oh and Dyed my hair with Olia 4.0 Dark Brown £5.50. Saves me about £60 not going to the hairdresser and I do a better job.

user1497997754 · 26/11/2017 16:44

Bought all my Xmas presents on the Notonthehighstreet website everything bought 50 percent or more off so well chuffed.

SunnyLikeThursday · 26/11/2017 16:45

Thanks for the reminder about the Tesco Christmas slots Snuggly, I've just booked mine for the whole of December. That's one less thing to think about.

My challenge this year is to manage inventory better so that the fridge doesn't end up so full that we can't find anything.

We went and played FootGolf this morning. It's the most weirdly enjoyable game. Somehow the sun always seems brighter on the golf course and the sky always seems bigger.

Fluffycloudland77 · 26/11/2017 16:56

Envy Woodburner.

needastrongone · 26/11/2017 17:16

Good bargains there user.

Flapjacks are amazing lonely, thank you.

DH is cooking tea. I’m very rarely shattered but we were out late last night and I’ve run 6 days this week, plus 2 PT sessions.

Course profile. Add in knee deep mud, tree roots and thousands of cow pats and it was madly enjoyable ha.

Ooh user a wood burner sounds lovely. My ex-h is a heating engineer. This basically means he never did anything in our house. Well, he did take out loads of radiators and not replace them, so it's bloody freezing I here! 1 small radiator for the whole of downstairs. Angry Just been looking at electric stove heaters to put in our fireplace.

Notonthehighstreet sounds good, I must have a look on there.

Spends today - £72 in Primark on coats for my 13 yo twins. They've got men's coats as they're huge so hopefully they'll last. They've been threatened with death should they lose them at school like the last coats they had. (Only cheap ones, but even so!) They did need them as they only have thin hoodies. Also got them a pair of gloves each.

£77 on the weekly shop in Morrisons. Hoping to do a few more veggie dishes, much as we love meat it is so expensive.

Also got an email on Friday saying the boys qualify for free school meals so I need to tell their schools tomorrow. That'll save some money on packed lunches/school dinner. Though the twins school doesn't give them much so they can take in some snacks from home.

I must try your flapjack recipe, lonely as every flapjack I've made has turned out rubbish!

That carrot cake looks amazing northender! Damn, i wish I'd let DS3 make a cake now, but I need to clear the kitchen up!

user1497997754 · 26/11/2017 18:24

I also look out for free pallets and saw them up for fuel for the woodburner we have 2 fans on top and this circulates the hot air around the house so don't need the central heating on.

Cagliostro · 26/11/2017 18:32

I am really not getting on with the MN app! I can't figure out anything.

People have talked about thermos flasks on here can anyone recommend one? Happy to spend more as have bought cheap before and regretted it. Would be good for DH walking to work (1hr+) especially as he isn't supposed to run as much now. Bit of a boring pressie but then he asked for socks :o

Fab news on FSM mywhat

MyWhatICallNameChange · 26/11/2017 18:40

Are you using the app on your iPad Cag?

I use the app on mine. Generally I just use active or I'm on.

If I want to search I have to use safari though, or send messages (not that I've ever sent one!)

LonelyOversharer · 26/11/2017 18:47

Our log burner in on too. It's super toasty in here (for once, no doors downstairs and a big open conservatory means it's always freezing). All the timber we have just now was, ahem, free. Lucky finds, a tree from our garden, and a load of kiln dried softwood that one of dp's mates liberated from his work. Well, we gave him £20 for two van loads. Best £500 we ever spent (the log burner).

The turkey leg was super. And enough left for JO pie later in the week. We have decided to do the Christmas legs in the slow cooker, and roast the crown with bacon on. We only need to do the meat. I'm cashing my asda credit card cashback (£30 ish) and will buy the turkey with that.

need you're crackers! But if you had fun... aren't the flapjacks ace? I've made them 3 times now, they come out very consistent. I recon they are super protein bars! Taste a lot better than the ones we sell in the shop.

Got muddled with the cakes! north carrot cake looks super, wreck what did you do for ds? I did think he was very grown up to have asked for carrot cake! Yes north you blink and they're teenagers!

LonelyOversharer · 26/11/2017 18:49

I can't get on with the app. I keep my internet tab open, and refresh it when I read on. Drives dp mad, as leaving tabs open isn't his thing. I have 16 internet pages open just now. Rebel.

WreckTangled · 26/11/2017 18:53

Thanks everyone ds had a lovely day. The cake was (at his request) a vanilla sponge, with jam and green buttercream icing Grin

Swimming was £18 for three ShockHmm I didn't go.

I use the app all the time. Can't wait to go to bed.

Tomorrow I'm taking my car to be fixed. Please everyone pray that it's not too expensive and they give me an nhs discount Grin (if you don't ask you don't get and all that).

lifelongfrugaleer · 26/11/2017 19:08

Happy birthday wreck ds
Spendy day mostly online £33 new gym trainers, £134 Amazon and £55 Amazon on dh Christmas.

SnugglySnerd · 26/11/2017 19:16

I'd forgotten again until I just saw your post Sunny! Will do it now.

Fluffycloudland77 · 26/11/2017 19:48

Need I'm glad you enjoyed it, it must've been so cold though!

Is he a big boy now wreck?

Laska5772 · 26/11/2017 19:49

Ooh i am tired .... weekend was fun but now guests gone , I didn't drink at all last night, as had my full rest of year ration on Friday , but I still didn't sleep well.

This afternoon I've just cleared up ,done lads of washing and that's it. I have used my lovely new handheld Dyson..... I am not saying this is the start of me being less slack on the hoovering , but i do like it and am haven't been at all tempted to hurl it out of the window like I always do with the big vacuum) . Strangely the cost of that has not appeared on my credit card yet and it was dispatched last Thursday but i expect it will be there tomorrow.. if not i will have to do the decent thing and contact them ).

Haven't spent anything but do have a bid on ebay or something for DGS.. - Oh no, not true, I bought a kindle 99p book his morning..

I am now fairly sure DH will leave work early in January ( hes waiting for his yearly bonus) . I might think of getting him a watch for that .. the Omegas look great ( some v.v expensive!! ) but I know he would prefer something that was a slimmer classic design -maybe a bit 1940/50/60s with a very simple clear face and a leather strap..

What other watches could i be looking at? .. I probably couldn't do more than about £2/3k and he'd go mad if i did .. (this could come out a lump sum on an old work pension which is due to mature in December ) .

I've just realised it s only 2 weeks until DH is taking me to Florence!! Grin and me being 60 Hmm

Laska5772 · 26/11/2017 19:50

Dentist in the morning..just a check up..
