Don't pg women get free dentistry over there?.

Ipsomatic · 28/02/2017 06:59

Em What I mean is - the thing I learned a little bit too late, is that when your own kid comes along, they are likely to have all the same quirks and excesses of personality as the parents. So it can be a good idea to prepare yourself for a baby who may need help with specifically the issues that you find most difficult to cope with yourself. With me it's that both of us are kind of rocket-fuelled personalities and together we sometimes hit light speed without really meaning to.

I don't know actually. I didn't know it was a thing in the uk. i will make sure I check though. It's usually £80 for a check up and hygienist. if I have to have a filling I'm expecting to say goodbye to around £200 in total. 😭 So if I now get it free...that's great!

ememem84 · 28/02/2017 07:07

Again ipsos that's nice. I knew what you meant. I studied psychology as part of my first degree. So am familiar with personality types. And as I said I'm lucky I'm not an Atype (workaholic overly ambitious impatient rude hostile) - not me.

WreckTangled · 28/02/2017 07:11

Yes em it's free here when pregnant.

I have got a gazillion mum points today as I made everyone (apart from myself!) American blueberry pancakes for breakfast before I left at 6:20 this morning. I was late in the end as the car was frozen solid.

ChristmasSeacow · 28/02/2017 07:15

My DS is nothing like me (even discounting ASD) - he is basically a mini version of his father, who is the opposite of me. So that's a possibility too! DH doesn't say much so I was hoping for a chatty one like me ... but nope.

Meadow I don't think DS is indecisive - in fact probably the opposite. But because of his language processing difficulties he doesn't usually understand what we are asking when being given choices.

I also want rolos now.

Friend coming round this morning with some baby stuff she is selling so won't be an NSD. Then also Rolos later, no doubt!

I'm going to try a nice black bean, avocado and chicken soup that i screen-shotted (is that a word?) from another thread. A different use of leftover roast chicken anyway and n excuse to eat limes. DH tends not to think soup is a reasonable main meal but I shall cheer him up with pancakes for pudding.

ememem84 · 28/02/2017 07:21

wreck pancakes sound great!! I think we're having them for tea Smile

creme was the soup a Pinterest one? It sounds good although I'm not an avocado fan does the avocado float in it? Or so you whizz it? With the avos and the limes it sounds sort of Mexican? Are you having tortillas with it? float Doritos on the top...!

Dh is the same re soup. It's not an acceptable meal. I disagree. Sometimes I'm just not that Hungry so soup is the way to go. With nice crunchy bread.

WreckTangled · 28/02/2017 07:29

If I'm doing soup as dinner (which is like a main meal I mean it's just liquidised casserole isn't it?!) then I'll serve it with cheese toasties which apparently makes it more acceptable to dh.

ememem84 · 28/02/2017 07:40

I think you'd mentioned soup and toasties before wreck and I was always a bit HmmConfused about that. However. I am a convert. Warm comforting soup and comforting oozy melty cheesey toasties. What's not to like???

WreckTangled · 28/02/2017 07:44

Exactly! Especially with a nice seeded bread mmmm might have to have that one night this week.

ChristmasSeacow · 28/02/2017 07:47

Em it was off another thread a couple of weeks back. Can't remember the title but this was the screenshot so floaty chopped avocado chucked on top at the end. (And now probably Doritos too - good idea 😉) . I am making hm stock in the slow cooker using my mn chicken carcass which will give it extra body. I am more excited about dinner than I should be....

Soup is definitely a meal if it is thick or chunky. DH is happy when I make laksa (I think meat + noodles means it qualifies) so there is a dangerous precedent here which I intend to exploit Grin. If only he ate cheese I would go down the toastie route Wreck. I really love cheese toasties. In fact I was thinking of getting a toastie maker as DS is quite keen too. Worth it do you think? They are not expensive, it's more that i lack storage space.

ememem84 · 28/02/2017 07:51

My fave soup is a Dutch split pea and sausage one. If you do it right (which I never have managed) it should be so thick the spoon should stand up in it.

WreckTangled · 28/02/2017 07:53

We have a cheap toastie maker from sainsburys and we use it all the time definitely worth it

ChristmasSeacow · 28/02/2017 07:53

I now have a top-up shopping list that says:

Crusty bread
Doritos
Rolos
Gaviscon

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 28/02/2017 07:54

Em it might be free. It is or was on Gsy if you are pregnant. A friend of mine got loads of work done when she was pregnant and didn't have to pay for any of it.

Just looked up the new A&E charges though, since it came up on FB. Shock May need to reconsider my policy of not bothering to take out travel insurance every time I go home.

ChristmasSeacow · 28/02/2017 07:55

Em i used to make the Nigella yellow split pea and frankfurter soup, which sounds similar, and always had stocks of it in the freezer (was definitely a meal!). But I ate it the night I went into labour with DS and could taste it all night as i laboured and it has put me off it a bit!

ememem84 · 28/02/2017 08:20

christmas yes! Sounds similar. May have to make it again soon.

rafa good to know. I'm def going to check it out. I don't yet have any maternity notes so maybe they'll insist I pay this time as I can't prove it (am not peeing in a cup for the dentist!) but maybe they'll refund it...

Stuck in traffic now. The way I've gone I need to via the coast road. And have just found out via radio that the road is closed. Because of the tides and winds.

ememem84 · 28/02/2017 08:21

Should add. Traffic is at a standstill and my engine is off. I am not typing whilst driving.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 28/02/2017 08:40

Nightmare. It looks like it's going to be bad.

I do love NHS dentistry. I'm on my 5th appointment since Dec and won't have to pay any more than £100 and that's only because I'm getting part done privately. The bill would have been £600+ at home.

Needastrongone · 28/02/2017 08:56

Hops back in after a break. I have been seriously unfrugal recently. I also felt shit posting, given that we are financially comfortable. Happy to fuck off again if required.

Spends today will be milk and £10 on an exercise class for DD and me, plus hair.

JO lentil veggie and lentil bol last night, healthy, frugal and filling.

ememem84 · 28/02/2017 09:48

£97!!! That is all.
Apparently I've bruised my tooth. Which is why it's hurting. And it'll take time to settle down.

Home now. Hiding under a frugal blanket watching a bit of Jeremy Kyle.

Ipsomatic · 28/02/2017 09:57

Christmas that's interesting that your ds is mini-dh. My ds seems to be a mix of all my male relatives with one or other being more prevalent at any given time. He was very much his own unique person though from the first day, which was kind of nice actually.

I'm having a cheapish sort of month this month. I'm tentatively looking forward to me end-of-month numbers and hoping they might be good.

mammymammyIRL · 28/02/2017 10:15

You can make fried eggs, omelettes & pancakes in sandwich toaster too Smile I have a George foreman type one now though so can't do this. And didn't know about it when I did!

Toastie bags are good too

My breakfast- bought choc spread for pancakes tonight so I've my homemade seeded bread (if anyone wants recipe let me know - holds about 5 days in ziplock bag) with choc spread & banana!

Dh definitely one for thinking soup doesn't count as a main meal & he eats sandwiches for breakfast lunch & snacks so I don't want him eating more bread (one of the main reasons he's gaining weight in my opinion)
I have in past year converted him to a fry type dinner every few months - fried egg air fried sausage, pudding, sugar free beans and air fried chips
