Broadband/landline am i being ripped off?

We have a package with bt. Unlimited broadband, anytime calls, line rental and a 5 quid add on for tv. Its costing us 57 a month. We are skint. There has to be a better deal out there??

Yes, BT is ripping you off, I would say. Ring them up, ask for Cancellations, and tell them you're going to go to Virgin if they don't give you a better deal.

Ate you still in a contract period with BT?

Hmm we get similar from BT for under £35. No tv but includes BT sport. They tried to increase it when it was due for renewal with a lesser call inclusive package but dh rang up and negotiated.

Not sure what's available in our area or maybe most things are and i'm just totally behind with the times!! We are quite rural so wonder if that limits whats available.

Try a comparison website and also the post office. Unlimited broadband, anyme landline and line rental should be under £30. Lose the TV package. If you have bad free view reception, you can sometimes get a really good one year deal from sky. After the year you cancel and buy a free view box.

I suspect that in a rural area you won't have the option of virgin.

Hi Immy. We are in exactly the same position, in a semi rural area and BT are taking the piss. Our contract is coming up for renewal, so I called them to negotiate and because of the crap package we are on they would not negotiate. So although I like some of their TV features we are going to move, probably to John Lewis broadband and save ourselves £170 a year.

I'm with bt, I have unlimited fibre optic broadband for £9 a month this is not the fastest fibre optic, but it's good. Everything else is the standard price, I threatened to leave (very nicely!) to get this deal, everything else is standard price. My DH likes BT sport so although I could get cheaper broadband and line rental it is the cheapest because of the discounted bt sport. If you are asking could you give up the Bt sport?

I pay up front for annual BT line rental which saves a few pounds.

On phone to bt .... can reduce it to 50 quid.... wow!!
Or if i want 24 mnth contract then down to 39 quid!

We have the youveiw box with bt so have catch up and free bt sport but can't record, unlimited broadband at I think the lowest speed 17mg? And free evening and weekend calls, we don't even have a phone but it was cheaper that way! We pay £8 per month plus upfront line rental. I actually found the offers for you or whatever its called on my online account after a year was better than their offer for new customers which is very rare! If they won't offer better then shop around and change!

I feel your pain inmyshoes. The BT woman I spoke to was a right snotty cow too. Tried to tell me that nobody else could offer me connection to fibre as they didn't have access to the network. As it is there is a mile of copper between me and the fibre box, so the internet has run out of puff by the time it gets to my house and speed is abysmal. So much for the government promise of 10mb to all homes - and I don't exactly live in the middle of nowhere.

What happened, OP? I'm sick of BT tbh.

They gave me exactly the same package as i have now for 34.99 a month. Cheapest I could get elsewhere was John Lewis 27.99 but then id have to give up my bt tv and i love it.

Our bt hub died last night, we are out of contract.
Looking on switch it looks like John Lewis at £36.50 is the one BT need to beat if I'm going to stay with them

They initially quoted £51.49, but when I mentioned the JL quote they offered £44.99, plus I have to pay £9.99 for delivering my new hub.

Have you looked at Virgin or the Post Office?

I decided to stick with BT mainly because the new hub will be here on Friday and I need internet for dhs work. So didn't want anymore downtime than necessary, I've reduced my monthly payments and got back a cheeky £40 that they had in a dormant account that I didn't know about :/

we are lucky enough to have had fibre installed last year so I signed up with vodafone for £22pm (£25 for non vodafone customers). They don't charge for line rental, so I pay another £4 for evening and weekend calls and that's it.

worth doing if you have fibre in your area. I left BT as they would not come down from their charges and I am saving £25 a month now.

I'm with talk talk. Line rental, fibre broadband and TV for £28 a month, been with them 2 years and never had a problem.

We don't have much option at the moment and pay a fortune to sky. Virgin is currently laying cables in our street so maybe we will have a bargaining chip soon
