eek! Just transferred €500 out of my christmas club (the money for clothes that I was debating over a couple of days ago) to have money for deposit on car. I usually put €15 a week into it so have upped it to €30 for my shopping trip. I will have €360 by the time I go then which is plenty and it will reduce the amount of my loan too.

Can never understand folk being cruel to animals of any sort. Good that some find a loving home and get a second chance.

All our finances are joint and always have been. DH earns way way more than me and always has done as he's always run his own business in one form or another. In fact, as I do all the finances, far more stuff is in my name for convenience, so he has more to lose than I do. Smile He's always considered it a family pot of money. After 20 years plus together, I think we will survive another 20. Grin

I need a top up shop today, and a card for DS, who is 17 tomorrow, where did that go? My eldest child is 17....

AGenie · 13/09/2016 11:35

need we're the same. All the savings are in my name as I don't earn enough to pay tax (or anything really), so it means we get the interest gross instead of net.

I'm frustrated recently at the capping of pensions. It means that in a family where there are two earners, they can put twice as much money in their pensions as families with only one earner.

Ememem84 · 13/09/2016 12:45

£32 in pet shop. Feliway diffuser, dreamies and some litter tray liners.

ItalianWiking84 · 13/09/2016 12:51

20£ at the pharmacy, I apparently have a bladder infection. But baby dd is growing really well and that's reassuring...
Also spend around 10£ on some Danish goodies for my German friend living in the uk. She's going to a rough time so going to send a little box of goodies to her

needastrongone · 13/09/2016 13:07

That's kind of you Italian, good news about the baby.

I thought the last budget changed the tax implications on interest earned on savings Genie. Essentially, unless you have a substantial amount of money in savings, you are under the limit for paying tax. I'm not sure of specific numbers, but think you are allowed to earn £1000 in interest and not pay tax, or £500 if a HRT.

I agree about the pension change, I didn't know that, and doesn't seem fair at all.

£30 M&S, tons of reduced stuff.
£20 Aldi, one of those shops where you can't quite believe how much you get for the money. Smile.

Hairdressers later.

I've reduced the online shop by £20 from Morrisons, to balance the Aldi spend.

AGenie · 13/09/2016 13:18

need Yes there was a low change. It used to be that with each new bank account we have to fill in a form to say that we were not earning enough money to pay tax and that interest in the account could therefore be paid gross. That form has now gone away, and for me at least, I have to fill in a tax return every year to say how much I have earned from all sources, including bank account interest.

The thing I've figured out is that if I earn any money at all, and especially if I did somehow get over the non-taxable limit, then it makes sense to pay all that money into my own pension, and then I get the tax back. In practice I'm earning nowhere near that amount, but if I was, then that would be the thing to do.

The thing about capped pensions that I mentioned is entirely hypothetical as there's no way that we're going to end up having more than the £million capped payments into dh's pension, but it just annoys me that they've entrenched that advantage for couple where both are earning, over couples where only one person is earning.

Collieballs · 13/09/2016 15:19

NSD here and seriously considering the house we viewed yesterday. It's 0.8 miles to nursery and school

CremeEggThief · 13/09/2016 15:47

Sounds exciting, Collie.

NSD. It's an absolutely gorgeous day, so just sitting mnetting in the garden with a cuppa.

needastrongone · 13/09/2016 16:31

Very exciting indeed Collie Smile

It's lovely here too today Creme, I had to run at 2pm, as I have no other time today and it was tough going.

We too tip a good amount into pensions, as it's so tax efficient, especially with a business Genie. We do have separate pots though for this.

needastrongone · 13/09/2016 16:47

Additional spending on a copy of the Highway code for DS, who turns 17 tomorrow.Shock

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 13/09/2016 18:02

Am Envy at all of you with lovely weather, it has chucked itself down all day here Shock complete with with thunder and lightening! Poor dd went off without a coat this morning as we had been promised a hot day Hmm

Italian rubbish re the bladder infection but great that the baby is doing well Smile

Interesting all the differencing opinions on how to share finances, I guess for me its all hypothetical anyway!! When I meet and marry my millionaire I will def be all for joint finances Wink Grin

lilacclery · 13/09/2016 18:08

Super hot here I'm glad I worked really. Nsd though and no work tomorrow woo hoo!

Mummyshortlegz · 13/09/2016 18:10

NSD. And no petrol and I didn't use the tumble dryer. Not least because it's broken.

lilacclery · 13/09/2016 18:10

Collie tell us all about the house
We're ten miles from dd's school but we are rural and this is normal.

lilacclery · 13/09/2016 19:02

Well done mummy I've asked dh to put up outside clothes lines for me that are covered from the rain in time for this winter. How I sold the workload to him was as follows - tumblr dryer is on way out so if we were only finishing off clothes in it we might get to January sales out of it, plus clothes look better and lady longer when they're not being tumble dryers. This is not a dig at you mummy I know how many changes of clothes young boys go through !

Just spent another £90 at the vet and might have to go again next week. Really need to claim from insurance, it's been over £300 in the last few weeks.
I'm finding work very stressful, much worse than usual. I know I said I didn't want to give up work when the babies come but I am actually starting to consider it. I'm not sleeping properly and there don't seem to be enough hours in the day to get everything done. House is a tip, losing track of spending and just feel totally disorganized and exhausted. That's only going to get worse with 3 kids isn't it?!
On a positive we had a fabulous thunder storm this afternoon, loads of lightning it was amazing!

Em the vet advised me to put water and food away from each other. In the wild cats wouldn't drink water by where they have killed their prey so they are happier with the separate. This definitely worked with our old boy!

WreckTangled · 13/09/2016 19:28

Snuggly I have a friend who's an awesome teacher, she's just given up her job to do supply work, only until her boys are older though. She's really pleased she did it.

Mummyshortlegz · 13/09/2016 19:28

I only use mine when it's wet or I have a back log. We had a patio laid all last week so I couldn't use the garden and then we had rain on Saturday and a family party on Sunday. Then ds1 randomly wet the bed!

I pay £2.99 per month for product insurance on it and so tomorrow they are coming out to fix it or I get a new one for free.

Over the winter I'm going to try and use the heated airer as much as possible and just use the tumble for sheets and towels.

Fluffycloudland77 · 13/09/2016 19:54

A spin dryers what you all need. It's an extra step in the laundry process but it's cheaper to spin a pint of water out of a load than to tumble it.

They do 6kg ones now. 4p an hour to run but you only need it on 15 minutes so a penny.

Then tumble as normal.

£2.07 in lidl.

Need Is he all geared up for driving lessons now?

Mummyshortlegz · 13/09/2016 19:57

Fluffy I do sometimes do an extra spin or two on the machine. Not sure if it's worth my while but I think it must help a bit!

Fluffycloudland77 · 13/09/2016 20:04

A bit.

But 10 minutes at 3200rpm using centrifugal force really gets the water out. You don't realise how damp laundry is when it comes out until you use one.

Tryingtosaveup · 13/09/2016 20:05

LSD here. It was supposed to be NSD but had to pick DGS up from school and bought him an ice cream £1.35.
Snuggly why not take some time off sick?
Collie, hope the house works out. Exciting!
Lilac.....what sort of car is it?
