I think it's a NSD! Hooray! And I saved money by walking to preschool and back instead of driving!

Hi everyone! Back from my weekend away and I was very restrained with my spending! NSD today.
Will catch up with the thread this evening, hope you are all enjoying the sunshine.

CremeEggThief · 09/05/2016 18:04

Aw glad you had a great time, PurpleSmile.

Ememem84 · 09/05/2016 18:15

I'd just watched episode 2. So omg!

Am now watching 3. #nospoilers

Sourdough is coming along. And I have successfully washed Dhs slippers. They no longer stink and present a nuclear danger.

babsmam · 09/05/2016 18:24

Hope your weekend was lovely purple, you certainly got the weather for it.

Ok, I've menu planned loosely.

Cauliflower, pea, bacon cheesy pasta bake.
Chicken roast dinner or maybe chicken fajitas.
Chicken, spinach and chickpea curry.
Fritatta and sweet potato wedges.
Morrocon pork mince stuffed peppers.
Courgette, spinach, cherry tomato cheesy bake.
Salmon, pesto and jacket spuds, roasted veg or salad.

Fluffycloudland77 · 09/05/2016 18:44

I'm here need. I'd post more about my thrilling life of floor stripping but it might spark a mass admission of women needing diazepam & I couldn't do that to the NHS.

NSD.

em for £39 you can def vacuum the car yourself. The motor trade don't pay that much to valet a car. I think the "girl called Jack" blog does a soda bread. I fancy a go at sour dough.

Home made kebabs for dinner using meat from the butcher. Only 20p a pound more for locally reared & slaughtered on site animals. I saw a lorry transporting sheep last week & the poor sods were squished in like sardines.

Fluffycloudland77 · 09/05/2016 18:45

welcome soap

Cagliostro · 09/05/2016 19:10

Aaaargh I appear to be reacting to the stress of the last few weeks by spending money I don't have! All useful things (educational mostly,) but... FFS Blush.

Cagliostro · 09/05/2016 19:11

I mean. I do HAVE it. But it's possibly not the best use of it right now. It makes me so happy seeing the DCs enjoy all these resources though. Some books arrived today and they are engrossed.

Ememem84 · 09/05/2016 19:56

fluffy yep we've talked it over and the car clean voucher will not be purchased. I will do it myself. or make Dh do it

The spiciest hot salmon and grapefruit salad for dinner. Seriously spicy. But so good. Dh just whipped this one up.

ohhelpohnoitsa · 09/05/2016 20:15

Hello all, lots of old names on here and plenty of new ones too. I was on the original threads for the first year or so and have dipped in and out since, if anyone can remember me. I started with about £5500k of debt (mainly overdraft) and got rid of it all with the help of the thread. Well as you can probably guess I am running a defecit again, albeit a small one. Things that have been so great for me and I still continue are bulk buying (wash powder and dishwasher tubs from ebay which last about a year and approved foods for beans, pasta, goodies, sauces, flour, foil, water etc though I do only buy 'in date' stuff so not maximising potential savings there), topcashback ( thanks fluffy ,has made me £976 in 2 yrs), opening and closing bank accounts to get their cash back an generally cutting down on stuff we just don't need. Hopefully I can learn from you lot again and help some others along the way. I tend to come back at this time of the year when my job quietens down. need I need your cleaners! We have one but I find they are all really good for about 2 yrs then things slip (she is out 5th cleaner in 16 or so yrs). I want your ant-like cleaners....pls say you are in the East Midlands!? One dodgy money maker I have done recently to service this small cc bill, is utilise the offers on Topcashback ... goodness only knows my bank thinks of me - I have joined Net Bet and Ladbrokes and got £50 and £30 cashback respectively for spending £30 in total. Have to use a debit card as cc charge extra for gambling! My accounts were open for just 2 weeks and I made £50 profit in cash back - guess what I made from the gambling..................

Fluffycloudland77 · 09/05/2016 20:25

I can't guess tell me now!

PurpleRibbons · 09/05/2016 20:40

Welcome back ohhelp! Long time no see. I'm hoping you're going to tell us that you bet on Leicester winning the league and won thousands!

ohhelpohnoitsa · 09/05/2016 20:40

A whole 80p on the roulette, which I did actually try to withdraw but putting in my details was so much of a faff that I just gambled it and lost. Of course !!

Comeonmommy · 09/05/2016 20:43

Hey soap, I am in the same circumstance as you. Just given up the job I loved and am now on long term sick. I have just started getting ESA but don't think I qualify for council tax reduction. Next step is PIP and a blue badge.

I am trying so hard to curb the spending - it's me, my partner and 2 kiddies - thought it would be easy to shop around now I'm not at work but it's harder!!!! I then get frustrated but my partner keeps reminding me.....I'm off sick - not on holiday!!! I don't have the energy some days to even leave the house let alone shop around!!

ohhelpohnoitsa · 09/05/2016 20:57

comeonmummy do you know of mysupermarket? It is a website that you type your online shopping list in to and it compares which supermarket is cheaper. Topcashback has cashback and money off at Asda and Ocado if it is your first shop (or just register with a new email address) and a bulk shop at approved food will save you lots over the coming weeks as you.may only need to then buy fresh stuff and meat. If you cant go shopping, let the shopping come to you I say. Good luck and don't be so hard on yourself if you are unwell.

Cagliostro · 09/05/2016 21:11

Not caught up yet but hi Soap I am in a similar situation, in that I've been off sick for several months. I was officially dismissed last week so am on my notice period now. I'm not sure about ESA though as I will become self employed (tutoring) so will be earning a bit.

Comeonmommy · 09/05/2016 21:34

Ohhelp - thank you for the advise, will have to look into the sites you mention so I know I am doing everything i can

This site is amazing by the way. Hearing about your spends gives me plenty of tricks of the trade!

ipsogenix · 09/05/2016 21:35

Lilac Yes you're right. I should be dividing into 5 bags. I just get hungry when I'm cooking and end up eating a load of it, instead of putting it in the freezer.

Cag - Glad to know it's not just us with the book. I will be checking more carefully in future. The name is a bit Asterix isn't it? Not intentionally, but I like that it is. I'm glad you like it too.

I'm managing not to spend too much money this week. Just tesco and some clothes so far.

lilacclery · 09/05/2016 21:59

ohhelp welcome back.
What habits led to you being a little in debt once more?
Online shopping definitely help to build my debt although it was primarily due to both of us being on short time at the same time.
Things are improving all the time & I have one credit card balance under €1000 & working on the other one.

Ememem84 · 09/05/2016 22:10

Tomorrows chores: post office to send off postcards and coins for your Dd cag

Take skirt back to new look £14 ish back on my card

Change Israeli money back to gbp. Probably about £50 back. Ish.

Am feeling organised. Bags are packed Have picked two outfits for tomorrow. One for rain/cold the other for sun. Have also applied tan to my legs. So if it streaks overnight I can hide my legs in trousers. Better not streak (I put it on 2 hours ago and it said 2-3 hours to dry...also didn't put loads on) I only have white bedding...

No. More. Tights. until October

Lunch is packed. Leftover chilli salmon salad.

Must buy fruit tomorrow. As much as I do really like m&s for fruit, I may go to the farmers market. And see what I can get. Much nicer. Smile estimating £15 on fruit. Apples satsumas bananas local strawbs maybe a melon.
