Hi All,
Taking the liberty of starting a new thread, as I went to post spends on the old one and it's full.

We had a lovely day out at the seaside and visited an old lighthouse as part of it. As we rely on public transport, that's always a big part of our days out spend.
£9.60 bus fares.
£9.60 train fares (with the family railcard).
£6 lunch from Sainsburys ( £3 meal deal each).
£4.50 entrance to the lighthouse.
£7.10 coffee, hot chocolate and cookies in a café afterwards.

Oh and DS needed a haircut, which I think was £6.50.

I know crème but I hate melted butter boak face Envy. I have to wait for toast to cool to before I butter it.
Sounds perfect collie.

lilacclery · 03/04/2016 19:38

Had decided to go with the f&v subscription box until at checkout I discovered there's a delivery charge so I've decided to stick with the f&v shop after all.

Today is going to be spendy.

Testing Brew, what's with MN?...

Fluffycloudland77 · 03/04/2016 19:41

Collie Cheaper nursery & a dual commute sounds great.

Wreck She's a little Star

CremeEggThief · 03/04/2016 19:42

I can't be bothered with butter, or more aptly in my case, spread, on scones. Jam and clotted cream are all I require!

I'm on the app and not having any problems?

We have really nice tiles in our bathroom, they're massive grey rectangular Italian things. Dh got them free from work, they look really nice.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 03/04/2016 19:43

testing......

Fluffycloudland77 · 03/04/2016 19:49

Mumsnet is broken, their fixing it.

You can still read it though so none of us have to speak to our families Wink

Dh still talks of the day it went offline with faint horror in his voice.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 03/04/2016 19:50

ugh lost a long post! Shortened version is went to cinema saw kung fu panda 3 - was alright dd enjoyed it! Cost £16 though Shock

Another £8.50 in MacDonalds.

£3 on arcades.

£11 in Argos on a bath mat and new pillow.

Spendy wend.

Tomorrow likely to be spendy as well tbh as going show shopping for dd and need to get my best friends son a bday gift.

SpaceKablooie · 03/04/2016 20:16

How close to the Parmesan rind can you use? I realise that this is a ridiculous question. I think the answer is 4mm.

Cagliostro · 03/04/2016 20:28

Hoping this works as MN has been broken for me too!

Spends for the last two days - for me only, as we're at mum's and DH is still at work back home so don't know his spends yet. We went to Knole, wow it's gorgeous! Mum added me and the DCs to their National Trust membership a while ago. Had a lovely time both indoors and out, and I feel ok considering I left my meds at home Blush

Saturday
NSD :o woohoo!

Sunday
50p postcard
£2.50 notebook for DD, but she's giving me that back out of pocket money. It's so sweet, she spent the rest of the time sketching things as we walked round :) and is now writing down what mum is telling her about Henry VIII's wives :o
£5 two comic books for the DCs. Went to a geeky shop in my home town and pretty much had my ear talked off by the guy there!
£17.20 anime DVD. Got sick of waiting for the UK release Angry I'm ludicrously excited about FINALLY seeing this film. I also ordered another copy by mistake from a different seller, but did 'request cancellation' within about 10 minutes so they'll honour that right?! Blush

Pointlessfan · 03/04/2016 20:47

Great news about your job collie and thanks for the Nectar advice babs, I don't think I have many points as I used them to do the shopping when we were skint in January!
Need to get shoes for DD tomorrow and socks, her little feet have suddenly grown!

Fluffycloudland77 · 03/04/2016 20:55

I bet hard core frugaleers use the whole Parmesan rind.

Knole sounds interesting.

SpaceKablooie · 03/04/2016 20:59

I wondered if that might be the case Fluffy Grin.

Ememem84 · 03/04/2016 21:22

(We don't buy Parmesan to save money we buy grana padano...same same...)

We spent £890 ish today on bathroom things (well we will order tomorrow). All villeroy & boch stuff all in the sale. All also 20% off on top of sale price because we don't pay vat.

Will take my dad to b&q on Wednesday for tiles and other bits. He can help me lift them and he'll let me use his old man discount Smile

Food shop list done. Boots shop list done. A few bits listed on eBay. And a bag for the charity shop sorted.

Dh has crunched numbers and worked out we spend £1300 on parking if we drive to work every day!!!!! Shock so will be walking as much as possible.

Daffodil90 · 03/04/2016 21:31

Hello ☺

I'm usually a lurker but had to share that i got a partial refund on mine and DHs life insurance policies (complained of a mis-sell at the insistence of the woman on the phone - I normally don't like to kick up a fuss) and now there is only a measly £40 left on my credit card and im 17 days away from a clear balance.

Just the personal loan to tackle next haha!

Also got £50 worth of clothes for DD this weekend (10 vests, 3 sleepsuits and 2 sleeping bags ....okay and a pair of slippers for me!) for free with the Sainsburys nectar points double up offer. Theres still two days left of you missed it so far.

Happy days ☺

Fluffycloudland77 · 03/04/2016 21:36

Em That's a bargain and adds value. Fab.

Daffodil. Good for you. Happy days indeed. I'm really pleased for you.

Pointlessfan · 03/04/2016 21:43

I use the rind - I freeze it until I'm making stock then chuck it in, I'm sure it's Jamie Oliver's tip.
Welcome daffodil.

IdStillRatherBeKnitting · 03/04/2016 22:58

Finally a nsd!

Lovely family day, 12 for lunch at my parents, lots of choc consumed by children. Shattered and slept right through the grand prix.

lilacclery · 03/04/2016 23:25

If parmesan rind is left lying around one or other of my children eat it, they're still alive so it's ok right HmmHmm

Returned two skirts I had purchased on Thursday. They weren't 100% my thing

Well done on almost clearing cc balance

lilacclery · 03/04/2016 23:26

My phone went for a dip yesterday, calls not working but rest is ok

Cagliostro · 03/04/2016 23:53

I'd say it was the first time the DCs have really got a lot out of a NT place TBH. I thought they'd grumble about going round the house (DD was a bit whingey at the start) but they had fun spotting things etc. Also... DEER! :o We were annoyed to see one family blatantly ignoring the rule of not feeding them though. Not even just one little tidbit but loads of different foods. I wish I was brave enough to say something!

Dad took lots of photos of the DCs in the woodland with his fancypants camera so if they turn out well that's a frugal win. Can't get school photos anymore so we are having unschool ones instead Wink

Well done Daff! I was wondering about missold insurance. I still remember when we got pressured into signing up. Do you lose the future protection by claiming refunds? As DH is positively ancient now Wink so not sure he'd be able to get a new policy that wasn't horrifically expensive.

Can't sleep due to leaving tablets at home. I thought I'd packed some in our toiletry bag that we leave here. I'm going to sort out more things to leave here in the future though as mum has cleared a massive drawer for us - a few toys/activity books etc for the DCs would be useful.

Mmmmmm gran padano parmesan

Daffodil90 · 04/04/2016 00:10

The insurance claim was a pain but worth it in the end cagliostro. I got £170 odd back.

We were being charged £45pm for both of us in one payment but apparently had two policies both in joint name. So when I went to cancel only half of it cancelled and it was so effing confusing. I never thought to check each policy number that was written in correspondence because you just don't when you think it's one policy -plus they were only one digit apart-

I'm now with a different company paying for two policies that suit our needs far better for about £15 total. Which was the point of the exercise (on mat leave and piss poor!)

The mortgage guy who sold it to us in the first instance clearly saw first time buyers coming and the dollar signs were in his eyes.

Also after a few months of the new policies we'll get £60 M&S vouchers each Smile

DontLetMeLetYouGo · 04/04/2016 06:11

Morning frugaleers!!

It's my first day back at work today after long term sickness, on a phased return and feeling really nervous about it all.

Should be a NSD today. After work I've got to have a dressing done and then a quick word with the manager of my new job. I'm working my notice out at my current job and going somewhere which should fit in with personal/family life much better.

Wolfcub · 04/04/2016 06:24

Good luck don't

We freeze parmesan rinds and then pop them in risotto while it simmers
