Hi All,
Taking the liberty of starting a new thread, as I went to post spends on the old one and it's full.

We had a lovely day out at the seaside and visited an old lighthouse as part of it. As we rely on public transport, that's always a big part of our days out spend.
£9.60 bus fares.
£9.60 train fares (with the family railcard).
£6 lunch from Sainsburys ( £3 meal deal each).
£4.50 entrance to the lighthouse.
£7.10 coffee, hot chocolate and cookies in a café afterwards.

Oh and DS needed a haircut, which I think was £6.50.

What, do you have to change it? Kids' passports are only for 5 years, so would it really matter too much at this young age? It would really bug me, as I hate it when dates and times are wrong (clocks in public places that obviously haven't changed over from GMT to BST or vice versa always infuriate me), but not enough to fork out another £72 if I don't have to!

I'm a 6 on that scale, Wreck. I can do 7 for short bursts, but not consistently.

What don't let them blame you. It proves that they weren't thorough enough with their checks! Angry and if they know it's a common mistake on their website then they need to sort the glitch out. The passport guy is obviously aware that the website design is causing problems. They need to make the date typable (or something!) to prevent further mistakes from a drop down box error.

Fluffycloudland77 · 13/04/2016 17:38

What Complain to your MP. They'll have an email address. What on earth is the point of supplying birth certificates if they don't check it?. You might as well not send them if they don't check them.

Cag Excellent news. www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/reclaim-packaged-bank-accounts Bank account fee reclaim.

I never had ppi, I think. I wrote to the three cc I did have to enquire, 2 ignored me & sainsburys asked me to confirm my married name change even though I had the account numbers. I got all disheartened and gave up.

Lila We have a wedding evening do on a THURSDAY. I'm working class, weddings happen on a Saturday. Sunday at a push if it's a bh Monday. Apparently the rsvp are coming through declined.

So.

£2.35 for 800g lamb shoulder with bone in. V pleased.
40p stuffing.
£6.58 on beer but free on the shopping apps. Have 11 bottles. I'm not even drinking at the moment. Neighbours must think I'm an alcoholic.
£350 on console table. Feel a bit sick but I only have to pay about £70 out of my own money. The rest came from cashback and eBay. Got £5 cashback and John Lewis had sent me a spend over £50 get a £5 voucher offer so I activated that.

I'm washing out jars, I want to make slow cooker chutney and get it matured before BBQ season starts off. Onions are on aldi super six. It looks mega cheap.

Checkoutsmart declined a receipt for the bread mixes. So I'm going to return it and buy another two tomorrow. I was really carefull as well when I uploaded them.

beesarethebest · 13/04/2016 17:49

That's a bit rubbish about the passport. Did you use the check and sign service? If you did and they didn't even check that then it really is their fault.

Spent £5.70 on lunch. Brought my own drink so didn't have to spend £1.80 on extra.

This ziffit and webuybooks thing is quite addictive. Today, 3 bags of recycled paper gone. And 2 boxes packed up. Another 2 to go at least. I do hope it all pays off as they say or at least as close as. I'm pretty confident of my work books - very pristine condition! I wonder why I'm even holding back on some. I keep thinking I will refer to them or read them- I haven't for the last 5-10 years and they've been accumulating!!

SpaceKablooie · 13/04/2016 18:03

Hi all Smile.

£10 on food to tide us through until the weekend.

Does anyone know anything about the Halifax Savers Prize Draw? I'd rather have a better interest rate TBH.

PurpleRibbons · 13/04/2016 18:04

That's rubbish about the passport.
That list is interesting about pain. I'm usually 8-9 but more like 6-7 when my knees are really bad.

Fluffycloudland77 · 13/04/2016 18:40

Space

Prize draw? Fuck that.

Some banks are offering 6% now. Moneysupermarket will have a list of free current accounts that entitles you to a good saving account.

SpaceKablooie · 13/04/2016 18:43

Grin Fluffy, I thought that too.

Orangesaretheonly · 13/04/2016 18:43

That is rubbish about the passport. I might ring hsbc tomorrow about ppi I think I had on a loan a few years ago. Spent £2.80 on lunch today as we were out for dinner didn't have leftovers! Need some quick lunch ideas I can whip up at home. Making risotto for dinner can't remember if it was here or another thread I was reading about what to do with Parmesan rind but I've chucked it in risotto as someone said so let's see!

needastrongone · 13/04/2016 18:53

That really doesn't seem right about the passport What, they are effectively issuing an illegal document surely? I would question it, if you can summon up the energy. Re the expensive month, it's hard isn't it? Things always seem to come at once. Maybe keep your spends down while away by budgeting and taking food where possible. Look, it's booked and done now, there's nothing you can do, try to enjoy what you can't change. No point in spending the money then not enjoying Smile

I can see multiple posts coming from me to cover everything.

£60 for the dogs to be groomed but it's crap and I have complained.
£12 poo bags from Amazon.

I have also written a cheque for the local music festival tickets. We live very close to one of the big ones and qualify for resident rates. It's always oversubscribed though, so that cheque might not be cashed.

needastrongone · 13/04/2016 18:57

Fluffy I am using the shopping apps for the first time tomorrow after my delivery. Milk, jam and crisps. About £2.50 I think, but better than a slap in the face.

Having had a meeting with my IFA today, I am going to utilise our ISA allowances to the max but still need to stick a lump sum into high interest accounts. Wondering if anyone has recommendations?

Cagliostro · 13/04/2016 18:58

It kind of depresses me that the scale made you think of me Wreck :o

I guess I'm usually at 6 but often get down to a 2 or 3. Although it's bugging me that 4 has outside activity and 5 doesn't! It's sending my ASD-fuelled need for consistency into overdrive :o

Cheers for the link Fluffy :) I'll be looking into that! Got my pupil coming in half an hour. Should probably tidy up. Blush

needastrongone · 13/04/2016 19:03

I am a 10, but I mean that in an appreciative way, not in an 'I am brilliant' way. Seeing my friend with cancer going through what she does with such a positive mind set and mental energy , makes me realise
how lucky I am to be a 10. She's refusing to take the chemo lying down btw, so she has a couple of days lying low then back up and about, makes herself carry on. She wants to show folk that she is not 'just' having chemo and nothing else. I am a bit in awe, but inspired too.

CremeEggThief · 13/04/2016 19:06

If it helps, Cag, I'm a 6 mostly; 7 on good weeks. I don't think I've ever been a 10.

WreckTangled · 13/04/2016 19:11

Oh sorry Cag Smile it reminded me of others too but I get muddled up over cfs and other things and who has what Blush

Dd went to a friend las for tea tonight (first time!) and had a lovey time they were even talking about a sleepover Shock

needastrongone · 13/04/2016 19:11

creme and cag Flowers, it must be tough, I am sorry.

Fluffycloudland77 · 13/04/2016 19:18

Good for you Need. Lots of free beer and cider around at the moment too & free biscuits.

I like to keep things like that for guests Halo

Organised a new sim for dhs iPhone, £5 a month with 1gb data and £5 cashback.

WreckTangled · 13/04/2016 19:54

Work tomorrow. Have made lunch and breakfast already Halo

CremeEggThief · 13/04/2016 19:56

Need and Wreck, I thought it's a good tool, as CFS is hard to give examples of. I'm glad to hear friend is fighting. I admire her strength and attitude.

Colliefeatures · 13/04/2016 20:03

Just did my Sainsbury's shop. Delivery and various prices have increased by loads! Shock fuck!

need I'm also interested about ISAs / high interest accounts! I've been checking out Nutmeg. Something about it keeps drawing my attention. Clever marketing people!

needastrongone · 13/04/2016 20:29

Creme She's always been pretty stoic to be fair, nothing has radically changed. I've seen her have one major wobble, but overall, I am in awe with how she's dealing with things.

Collie The savings rates are dire everywhere, I hadn't fully appreciated, in an entirely selfish way, the affect of low interest rates on folk than depend on savings. I honestly thought our IFA was being somewhat dismissive earlier today, he's really not. If I left what I want to save in our current account festering, I wouldn't lose that much.

Cheap and frugal tea a la Jack Monroe, bacon, cauli cheese pasta bake. Substitute bacon for other veg if required.

8FencingWire · 13/04/2016 20:36

If it helps anyone, Nationwide gives you 5% on up to £2500 on their flexdirect. Also, you get access to their regular saver, 5% and you can put £500 in each month with no penalties.

Santander gives 3% on balances of up to £30,000.
First direct gives 6% on their regular saver (max £300 per month).

Ipsos · 13/04/2016 20:38

I see what you mean about the inconsistency in the chart Cag. There's no listing that says "constantly run off feet and mind abuzz with plans and problem solving, but mostly doing it in the house or school playground. Frequent viruses."

I think it's great that someone has tried to make a scale though. :-)

A friend said to me today that she wished she could give up work but couldn't because she had no idea whether her finances were solid enough. I felt privately proud of all the frugaleers just there in that moment, and glad that I'd joined the group and figured out what was what with ours.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 13/04/2016 20:52

I may be a 6 on that chart, but I'm not sure that I'd manage 5. I manage the limited work stuff, but home stuff falls by the wayside because of it.

Hugely better that the 0-2 I was for about a year 3 years ago. I think I might like to be an 8-10 though.
