Ah fluffy fingers crossed for nectar.
Lilac my food budget is pretty static too. I think realistically we are at the lower limit for us

Pointlessfan · 20/02/2016 09:57

Welcome Minnie, sorry to hear about your DH. We'll help you.
Hoe do you convert Nectar points? I always just take them off any shopping I do in Sainsbury's.
Hoping for NSD today after the week's excesses! Just going to kids' party and doing house work.

WreckTangled · 20/02/2016 10:03

Minnie I agree put the money for the garden to one side and don't touch it (unless you get into real trouble of course!). It must be really stressful but these things usually work out. My uncle got made redundant (insurance broker) and he ended up cleaning loos in a hotel for a couple of months until a job came up. It wasn't ideal but it paid the bills and obviously looked good to future employers (this was at the height of the recession).

I've got a horrible headache. Dh is home from work already which is great, I've put on the first load of washing and tidied the sitting room which includes all the toys which have migrated down from the dc's bedroom.

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 20/02/2016 10:28

Well we have no water burst pipe in next village thankfully was fine at 6.30am so tea and breakfast had and water filter and kettle had water in so OK should be back on thus afternoon people have brought all the bottled water in all the little shops in the 4 village affected its about 4-5hrs without water for goodness sake!!

Ememem84 · 20/02/2016 10:32

Today is a doing day. I've had another rummage and have got a few more bits to sell on eBay.

Two of my items are going to sell as well. Both for £3.50 not a huge amount but better than nothing and at least someone else might get some joy out of them.

For some bizarre reason I only have one load of washing to do and the baskets empty. It's not as though we've worn less clothes this week. I usually do 5 a week. Mostly on the weekend. And I haven't run the machine since Tuesday. Wierd.

WreckTangled · 20/02/2016 10:42

Dh said we can get a new car. Phew.

Dh's boss owes him £1600 in overtime which will pay off his own credit card Hmm at least it'll be gone though.

Morning all Smile

Welcome Minnie I would keep the money set aside for the garden for that purpose, although may look at cheaper ways of doing the garden so then if there was a bit left over could be used for something else.

Fluffy hope that works out - i hate anything like that as computers are not my strong point!

Thats a good little sum Needa

So had a quiet morning, plan to have a bit of lunch in a min, take some stuff to the charity shop, pop to Dun Elm and dds riding lesson.

I sorted through my cds, dvds and books ystd evening and cleared a load out, I had a quick look on musicmagpie.com but they were offering about 30p a cd and for the effort of listing every one it didn't really seem worth it! Plus I don't really give an awful lot to charity so this way feel like I am doing my bit iyswim. I also realised I am really not that sentimental about 'stuff' I would quite happily get rid of about 90% of my belongings as tend to have the attitude that if I am not using something I obviously don't need it!!

WreckTangled · 20/02/2016 12:21

Girlie the app for music magpie is so easy it hardly takes any time at all!

babsmam · 20/02/2016 12:23

Girlie I know a few people who have used ziffit too.

sportinguista · 20/02/2016 12:51

Checking in, been very spendy as birthday presents to buy and had to have sportcat spayed and microchipped. The celing debacle has been paid for by insurance and cost £500, the insurance people gave us £520 so all good. Now we just have to buy paints etc but the will to do it during the cold weather is not really there.

Mainly trying to save money by going through the quorn site for recipes, I can heartily recommend the Biryani on there it was fairly inexpensive and was judged delicious by DH who is quite fussy.

Need to try and save harder and find cheap things to do as the weather gets better.

needastrongone · 20/02/2016 13:47

I spent another £33 in Aldi, mainly on bits that will have to cover tonight's extra mouths, some wine and beer. I don't feel like entertaining again as I have hardly been in at all today (now sat as DD's snowboarding lesson) and I'm tired, but hey ho.

I am the same girlie, if I am not using it, someone else might as well in my view.

Ememem84 · 20/02/2016 14:00

£25 riding. My instructor put my jumps up without telling me.

It's wet and cold here and I still haven't bought any waterproofs maybe next year

Come home and dh has made tea cheese toastie and soup! Best dh ever.

Am going to the cinema tonight with my lovely friend. So will probably spend about a gazillion pounds on ticket. May/may not get sweets. I love pick n mix at the cinema.

Ememem84 · 20/02/2016 14:03

girlie I did that. All our CDs were burned into a hard drive and I music magpied them.

Same with DVDs. Sold a lot then sent the rest to charity shops.

It's one of the reasons I sell so much on eBay. I figure that someone else may as well benefit.

Girlfriend36 · 20/02/2016 16:21

Yeah i could have made more of an effort to sell them I guess but sometimes you just want stuff gone! Too late now, dropped at the charity shop already!

Am upset as dd managed to get paint all over her coat at riding today, they had been painting the stable stalls and she now has white paint all up the arms Angry its currently spinning around the washing machine but if doesn't come out will have to be replaced Grr!

Other spends,
£10 on Iams for 3kg - this is the cheapest I have seen for a while and should last at least a month.
£16 in Dun Elm, got dd a new blanket for her bed as she says has been cold on a few nights and a large storage box to try and contain dds playmobil and/or lego!

needastrongone · 20/02/2016 16:44

How did the jumps go Em?

babsmam · 20/02/2016 16:50

I'm feeling really fed up today. Not posting for sympathy or owt just need a vent. DS is still not well and I'm conscious they are back at school Monday. He has a cough note and is complaining of chest pain after exertion. I believe it's cold and nothing more as it's off and on . DD wants to do activities but can't cos DS isn't well enough and once again I'm on my own at the weekend. I'm feeling tired and achy and fat cos I hurt myself and can't do fitness. Plus I never got back on top of my weight after December. Today has just been a complete waste and again too much screen time for everyone. Sigh. Wasted an hour scanning CDs for £16 . not sure I can be arsed
Sorry I know people have bigger problems but I needed a vent.

WreckTangled · 20/02/2016 17:07

Oh no babs! £16 is £16 Smile much more than I earn in an hour. Hope ds feels better soon.

Dh got paid and get a tax rebate for our married tax allowance. Not sure whether to pay it off the credit card or save it for the IOW in May (I think the latter but it's dh's choice).

Anyway to celebrate our fortune we are getting a takeaway frugal fail

babsmam · 20/02/2016 17:11

Thanks wreck. It's more than I earn too an hour. We are getting takeout too. I've told the kids no tablets tomorrow. Shopping later as couldn't get a slot for tomorrow that didn't clash with something.
I'm tired which makes it worse

Ememem84 · 20/02/2016 17:52

need good!! Because I didn't know she'd put them up I wasn't nervous/scared like last time. Pony did what she was told. All good. Much improved apparently.

I saw a video of one of my first lessons the other day, so from about a year ago when I was first let off the lunge rein. You'd have thought it was a completely different person. I'm more confident more relaxed now. Smile

It is an expensive hobby (£25 hour for group lesson) but for me it's worth every penny.

Pointlessfan · 20/02/2016 17:53

I have a whole box of CDs to go on Music Magpie but is never seem to get time.
Managed NSD, absolutely shattered - crap tv and early night for me!

CremeEggThief · 20/02/2016 18:02

Babs, you put up with me and my moaning a lot, so feel free to vent. £16 in your pocket is better than nowt, eh? And, it's nearly double what I get paid an hour!

Just had a lovely afternoon with my friend, having lunch and 3 cocktails afterwards. It was a belated birthday celebration. It came to £45 between us with a tip and my bus fare in and out of town was £6.50.

I am the proud owner of 0 cds and dvds, as I get rid of everything I can!

fuzzpig · 20/02/2016 18:32

Babs, you put up with me and my moaning a lot, so feel free to vent.

^ wot she said. :) Thanks

fuzzpig · 20/02/2016 18:33

Although the idea of having no DVDs makes me want to hyperventilate. I love my DVD collection. Each to their own eh :o

CremeEggThief · 20/02/2016 18:57

Fuzz, I think you and I would be better off meeting up somewhere other than each others' houses. My friend posted a photo of her bookcase last night and her books were NOT sorted into alphabetical order! Mine are sorted alphabetically AND by publication date, which is how I used to store my cds and dvds (year of release), before I got rid of them.
