Oh no unescorted that's awful, glad the drunken bastard driver was caught though, and that DS is okay.

Spent £2 on chocolate in Sainsbo's, we seriously underestimated the weather and drove in to Taunton. ILs are driving across from the M25 as I type.

Thanks for the tips on make up. This is unopened mascara and I suspect DD is after getting her grubby mits on it.

Hope everyone is dry and safe at home.

colliepirate · 30/12/2015 17:15

Glad your DS is OK unescorted! Shocking though.

NSD today! Amazing!! Really pleased.

Unescorted · 30/12/2015 17:21

Not the call you want as you are finishing lunch.... "Hi Darling the ambulance is on the way but he is OK..."

Ipsos I am glad it wasn't just me hemoraging money even though we didn't do anything "expensive"

Ipsos · 30/12/2015 17:35

Hi, I just noticed that IKEA are doing 2 for 1 on blinds with 10% extra off for people with a family card. I wondered if that might be useful for the person with conservatory blind problems? I've forgotten who it was.

I'm working again tomorrow now too. Lots of overtime this week need to make the most of it whilst dh is off from work. Unfortunately it means we don't get to see each other! I think it's nice for the dc though.

OP posts:
Lovetoknit · 30/12/2015 18:15

That's terrible unescorted glad your ds is fine and the twat drunk driver was caught
I think it's good for dh to look after dc by themselves spotty my dh thought it was really easy being home with them until he had all 3 of them for the first time; he managed to look after them but did no housework Grin
Just watched Inside Lego at Christmas with dc and now ds wants more Lego to build the train which took 500000 bricksShock

Ememem84 · 30/12/2015 18:23

Omg unescorted how awful. I'm glad he's ok.

N. S. D. Grin

Came home and found my tax return in the post box. Sigh.

But dh is at the gym. And Chinese chicken is in the oven. Just need to bang some rice on and winner winner chicken dinner.

I have until 31 May to get tax form in. Might get it done this weekend. Just to be a smuggy.

SpottyTeacakes · 30/12/2015 19:09

Just successfully applied for married couples tax allowance. Should be over £200 a year better off SmileSmile

OP posts:
Pointlessfan · 30/12/2015 19:43

What is married couples tax allowance? I'm married, can I claim it?
Pleased your DS is ok unescorted, what a shock for you all. Good the driver was caught.
Spent £13 in Sainsbury's on a few extra bits to go with the party food leftovers for NYE. As usual, DH insisted on a jar of mayo for Xmas and as usual it is barely touched so I just made carrot and red cabbage coleslaw and I'm going to make garlic mayo tomorrow.
I'm thinking of marking every NSD on my calendar next year, I think that if I can see that I've had say, 3 in a row I'll compete with myself to keep going for longer if that makes sense. I'm very competitive with myself!

lilacclery · 30/12/2015 19:47

unescorted glad to hear your ds is ok. Your talk of London makes me realise I need to plan out my trip at end of January even more.

There from fri eve to mon afternoon & staying in radisson stansted.

Whataboutreindeer · 30/12/2015 19:47

Great idea on the runs pointless! Married tax allowance involves sharing your tax free allowance I think? I'm wondering if well benefit from it if I stop work.

SpottyTeacakes · 30/12/2015 19:58

You can only claim if the main earner earns less than £42350 (roughly). You can transfer up to one thousand and something of your allowance. It was the most easy thing to do ever.

OP posts:
needastrongone · 30/12/2015 20:13

As usual, we qualify for nothing, but that's as it should be.

Playlist for NYE is going well, as is my dancing round the kitchen with wine Grin

Risotto for tea, using ham from last night, mushrooms and leeks and a dash of balsamic vinegar, yummilicious Smile

Pointlessfan · 30/12/2015 21:31

Yes we both earn a lot less than that, off to google it...

CremeEggThief · 30/12/2015 21:36

Unescorted, glad to hear your DS is ok. Well done to the person who stopped the drunk driver. What a bastard; knocking over a kid and not stopping Angry.

Babs, sorry to hear if your DD's sprained ankle. I hope it doesn't stop her in her tracks for too long.

I think it was Bantam for the blinds, Ipsos.

Lovely day out with a friend at an English Heritage property. She's not a member, but I used my "bring a friend for free voucher" they emailed me this week. It's valid for this week only, and at selected properties, but well worth checking your inbox if you're an EH member and need inspiration for a day out. £9 on a lovely pub lunch and £7.45 on coffee and cake for my friend and I are my spends for today. She cooked dinner for us both when we got home too.Smile

blueteapot · 30/12/2015 21:55

Evening all! Lovely day today, took DC swimming with DSIS and then lunch at DMs, waited in in the afternoon for Asda delivery (£44) as it was such bad weather, then got rid of a load of stuff to the tip in the evening.

I am freezing despite the heating being on. So cold in NI today.

Glass of wine on the go now, DH is working so I'm surfing mumsnet lol :)

unescorted glad your DS is ok! How awful.

Frugal win yesterday, you'd be proud of me - took a wooden sand table we bought last summer back to toys r us - it was completely mouldy and horrible blooms of fungus growing all over it despite only being out one summer. Got in into the back of the car with the seats down myself (no mean feat as it was bloody heavy!), dragged it up there to show them and had a 'discussion' with the manager about it. £60 giftcard in the cupboard waiting for the summer stuff to come in so I can buy them a new plastic one Grin. Old me would have driven it straight to the skip!

babsmam · 30/12/2015 22:12

That is a frugal win blue.
Pleased DS is OK unescorted, thank the lord for cycle helmets.
Thanks crème, she will be fine but is a bit of a drama queen. Which English heritage did you go to and was it OK. We are members but tend to stick to the same ones. Pm if it's too outing. Please
£20 on a curry but now uncomfortably full and feel sick. Roll on January when I can eat nowt but raw veg

Ememem84 · 30/12/2015 22:16

babs cannot wait for raw veg January. I'm looking forward to salad tomorrow. Leftover Chinese chicken and so many leaves!!!! And broccoli. And beans. And edemames fancy

It's been warm here 14 degrees today but wet and windy. So I haven't fancied "proper" winter food yet. If it hits 16 degrees I'll have to get my shorts back out

CremeEggThief · 30/12/2015 22:25

My friend made us a wonderful veggie chilli tonight. Puy lentils, quinoa, peppers, aduki beans, sweet potato chunks, spring onions and served with Greek yogurt and a coriander dressing. She even gave me a portion to take home!
Babsmam, it's Belsay, near Morpeth. I loved it.

colliepirate · 30/12/2015 22:28

We had a frugal dinner. Jacket potatoes with all the random bits of cheese in the fridge. Served with baby tomatoes and rocket. Basic & frugal.

I love rocket lettuce. I think I'm addicted.

I have a frugal foodie question: can I chuck tinned chickpeas straight into a slow cooker? Do they need a few hours or should I chuck them in at the end? I'm a chickpea noob. Blush

Allgunsblazing · 30/12/2015 22:56

£23 on petrol and £13 on candles and bath salts. I have developed an obsession with candles I think. I am hunting the very very nice ones in TK maxx.
Tomorrow should be NSD. And then I start the most frugal year ever!

Allgunsblazing · 30/12/2015 22:57

collie I should think you can. I rinse mine and chuck straight into salads, so...

Ememem84 · 31/12/2015 06:45

collie if you can't then I've been doing it wrong for ages... I love chickpeas.

Try roasting them with salt pepper and paprika. And a bit of oil. Great to go on top of salads.

SpottyTeacakes · 31/12/2015 07:12

Creme that sounds delicious.

Pointless the lower earner has to earn nothing or less than £10k as you can transfer your tax allowance.

So I'm off to work but dh is taking me, it's a bit of a waste of petrol but it's not fair for dh to have to stay home for the third day in a row!

OP posts:
SfaOkaySuperFurryAnimals · 31/12/2015 07:21

NSD yesterday here, just milk today, definitely NSD tomorrow and Sunday... Also making a real effort to use up leftovers, 2 free meals for me from stuff that would normally have been binned(boxed salad, spare curry & rice).
Going to make a batch of soup for work lunches for next week to go in freezer.

C25K going well, loving the "free gym" as I lovingly think of it (motivation) probably do yoga today because 3 days in a row and my calves hurtGrin
Happy new years eve everyone, big hugs to all out there suffering at the hands of the weather.
