Pointless do you have reigns you could use to strap her in?

CremeEggThief · 05/01/2016 10:44

Online Sainsburys order just came. £40.45. Apart from milk, bread, Crackers (to go with cheese) and 2 reduced price M&S salads, it's the first food shop since the 22nd December. And I have a 24 pence voucher off next week's shop for brand matchSmile.

Ipsos · 05/01/2016 11:02

This WeBuyBooks thing is going weirdly well so far. I got a bunch of books out of the attic (all ones that I really definitely do not want any more) and that website says it will give me £90 for them. Gosh! I'm working my way through the process to see if there is a catch.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 05/01/2016 11:07

I'd be interested to see if it went well, Ipsos. I came to the conclusion I have too many books just before Christmas. I didn't think that could be a thing but apparently it can.

CremeEggThief · 05/01/2016 11:25

They might reject some for damage, ipsos. I've had that a couple of times, but in general, they are a fair company and pay within a week too.

IsabellaofFrance · 05/01/2016 11:34

Thanks for the recommendation Ipsos, have only put 4 books in so far and got an offer for £11 odd.

Ipsos · 05/01/2016 11:43

That's good to know Creme, thanks. Smile

Pointlessfan · 05/01/2016 12:11

what we have one of those Little Life back packs rather than reins. Would it be worth buying some cheap ones in order to shop at Aldi??
I got a Kindle for Xmas which I was very excited about but I'm going to find it hard to resist buying books all the time, especially as I normally get them from either the library or the charity shop.

Fluffycloudland77 · 05/01/2016 12:51

www.hotukdeals.com/deals/m-s-bank-new-switch-incentive-100-gift-card-plus-10-gift-card-top-up-each-month-2368136

£100 plus £10 a month for switching to M&S bank. £1000 minimum monthly pay in but you could pay in £100 ten times and withdraw it etc if you don't earn that much.

Ememem84 · 05/01/2016 12:52

pointless do you have Amazon prime? If you do I think you can join kindles lending library. not sure how it works though never tried it

There are loads of free books you know the classic ones were all meant to read but never do

fuzzpig · 05/01/2016 13:03

Just doing spends for last two days as I forgot, haven't caught up on thread YET but I will!

Sunday 3rd
£17.09 groceries
£6 bus

Monday 4th
£10.95 groceries
£1.50 bus

Pointlessfan · 05/01/2016 13:16

No Amazon Prime, is it worth getting?
Have just cut out all the Xmas cards with crinkly scissors to make next year's gift tags.

lilacclery · 05/01/2016 13:43

Pointless check out bookbub they email a list of free books every day for kindle. Also download calibre & you can get books for free through a website & convert for your kindle. Can't remember name of website but will do later on

I did first shop yesterday since Dec 20th €220 usually €140 per week but this should get us through two weeks except for fruit & milk top up.

lilacclery · 05/01/2016 13:45

Tuebl.com^^ you just put in name of book you're looking for & download it to calibre.

bootygirl · 05/01/2016 14:10

Can I join again! Was on for awhile last year!

I find if I read this thread it keeps me in the right mind set! Need to bring groceries down, as spend €160 on school dinners for 2 DS! But they re still wanting snacks and dinner in evening! 😜
This means groceries need to avg €400 rest of month and €50 for non edibles in washing powder hair care! We tend to live out of DH pay weekly and save my pay per month for school fees, holidays, clothes, Xmas. It seems to work for us. But as I take unpaid leave in summer and only work part time it's tight enough!

Anyway, here goes!

Girlfriend36 · 05/01/2016 14:20

Hi all so spendy morning!

£110 on gifts for dd however that is her bday done now - will not buy her any more stuff!! Got lots for this as well including Sylvanian family stuff which is £££ a playmobil city action thing, 2 lego sets and some smaller craft sets.

£10 on a doll for nieces bday.

£50 in Morrisons - had £6 off in vouchers and got loads, should last best part of 2 weeks....

Need to meal plan, heard on the news that it is a national problem gaining access to HSBC online.

Ipsos · 05/01/2016 14:35

I had an idea the other day. It occurred to me that I know the nutritional content of everything that I cook and the calorie content, but I don't have the price in my head. So I don't really know which things cost a lot and which a little.

For example, I only just figured out that one person worth of rice costs 30p whereas one person worth of an organic roast chicken might cost £3.

I was thinking it would be great to have all the things I regularly cook priced, so that I can see where the money is going.

It sounds like work, but maybe a bit at a time it would be okay. :-)

SpottyTeacakes · 05/01/2016 14:36

Nsd. I'm cold.

My manager told me today that she could see me being a team leader at work in the future. Suppose I'll just keep sticking it out until I can do more hours. The last two years has gone so quickly I'm sure the next two will!

Urgh, spendy day. £35 on a new toaster as ours died a death this morning and £300 plus on new tyres which are being fitted tomorrow - I drive a lot of miles to get to work so good to quality low fuel consumption tyres are better value than cheap ones but I could have done without the cost this month. Borrowing from the overdraft to pay for them as it was cheaper than finance and I can pay it back faster

Fluffycloudland77 · 05/01/2016 15:07

£4 poundland. Two packs of batteries, & two E14 led candle bulbs for the cooker hood. I was going to buy specific cooker hood bulbs but the candle bulb fits just as well and doesn't cost best part of £10 Hmm.

£2 sainsburys for gravy.

£1.67 morrisons for foil, tub of clover (free with £1 voucher on their Facebook page) and dolmio.

CremeEggThief · 05/01/2016 15:23

NSD.

Welcome back, BootySmile.

CremeEggThief · 05/01/2016 15:25

Yes, girlie, I've been trying to transfer money from my HSBC to my Halifax account since last night, but no luck so farSad.

FantaSea · 05/01/2016 15:28

I am doing better with my meal planning. I roasted a chicken on Sunday and there was quite a bit left over so yesterday I made a chicken casserole which was so easy and quick I wanted to share it with you all. I got a big cauldron and then fried a large onion and then cut off the leftover chicken and added that. I then added a 1kg bag of Tesco frozen casserole vegetables (pre-cut carrots, onions, celery, turnip and swede and on offer for £1 but would normally be £1.35) and covered with boiling water and then brought it to the boil. I then added 3 spoons of gravy powder and simmered it for about an hour. There was loads for the four of us and enough to freeze for another meal. I truly have one of those MN magic chickens!

£28 on petrol.

SfaOkaySuperFurryAnimals · 05/01/2016 15:57

NSD yesterday, then my car decided to start dying on me...Beetle in garage as we speak 😞
NSD today, cannot get anywhere, luckily garage at husbands work, Back to work tomorrow so should be LSD.
Spent all day glossing, we just made him made cheese& bean pasties, had those with crisps salad and hot chocolate, cuddled up under blankets watching Shrek 3 with the twinsGrin good times!
We cleared all the kitchen cupboards out yesterday, 4 bags of donations for the Pre-school I work at, productive couple of days. Also made 40 scones and 2 trays of rocky road from all the leftover Xmas chocs/biscuits that kids had abandoned. Luckily any car repairs have been saved up for, phew.....

Pointlessfan · 05/01/2016 16:21
