booty why not sell the DVDs online that you don't use to ziffit or cex and buy the davina one? You might be swapping one you don't use for one you will.

bootygirl · 21/02/2015 16:38

Fluffy

We just got a cex recently in town! Good idea! I have 30 day shred too I don't use must have a look around the house! Thanks!

bantamgirl · 21/02/2015 18:07

Bank: £914.10 (was £945.10)
Purse: £2.72 (was £28.46)
Jar: £30.95 (was £4.00)
Grand Total: £947.77
Reduced by £29.79
Days to payday: 20

Spends:

£11.00 – my bargain red converse from e-bay! They are in such good nick, no one knows they are not brand new.

£10.00 – kids x 2 haircut. DS2 was practically scalped so might get away with a few more weeks between cuts.

£2.10 – 2 x bottles of pop from corner shop near footy (OUCH – we normally go to Home Bargains so I almost passed out)
£1.00 – bananas from't market (massive huge ones)
£2.70 – salad stuff from't market.

£1.50 – some chocolate and pop from a freezer shop whilst I was at the market
£0.64 - stamp
£0.35 – bottle of lemonade.

Got to send a cheque for £50 for DS1 and DH to attend DS1's athletics club dinner coz he's getting an award – hopefully they won't bank it straightaway, and tickets for the FA Cup quarter Final game go on sale tomorrow so that'll be £52, oh and my will that I am having drawn up on Tuesday which will be £90.

Budget looks like this
Petrol: £141 budget / £56 spent / £85 remaining (half a tank of petrol left)
Groceries: £300 budget / £74.49 spent / £225.51 remaining
Credit card: £12.84
Interest: Don't know, haven't been told yet, was £16.04 last month
Kids activities & bus fare: £81.60
Bills shortfall: £138.50
My bus fares: £43.50
Tesco CC: £15
Leaves for everything else....£329.78

I phoned Three this morning to cancel DS2's old phone contract (which overlapped for a month with his new one) which will save £6.90 a month, and as I rang from my phone, they told me I could 'upgrade' (so I said no) and then they offered to knock my bill down to £15 a month, which is a saving of £22 a month, so I bit their hands off.

Morrisons sent me an e-mail offering 5,000 extra points (£5) if I spent over £60 online before 1st March so I put another order in yesterday for delivery next on 27th for £62+ but I shouldn't need to do a big shop for delivery on 5th March which would have been my last delivery before payday, other than packed lunches & pop, so I am hopeful to come in under budget again. I already have 19,200 points which is nearly £20 in vouchers but I'm saving them up for the Christmas week food shop.

Bootygirl – HAH, I always (usually) think twice about spending now too, as I know I have to come on here and confess all.

Bunnie – your fella is GORGEOUS!

Northender – such a disappointment that you didn't win – but it was Man U, and if you're going to go out of the cup to anyone, it's no shame to go out against one of the big boys.

Need - I won't dwell on it, but OMG that car is a mess! Lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky xx

PeoniesforMissAnnersley · 21/02/2015 18:33

Total frugal win, I needed prescription sunglasses as am not legally allowed to drive without glasses and can't see a thing when sun is in my eyes, got a voucher for £20 off in boots and then when I chose the ones I liked and took them up they came up as a further £25 off so I got a pair of prescription sunglasses for £55! I was delighted as had budgeted £100.
Hoping to do the practical driving test before the end of term, of course I have to pass first time as it's so expensive to rebook, frugality and all that Wink

girliefriend · 21/02/2015 18:43

No other spends today, just eaten a lovely dinner and feel the need to share, vegi lasagne with salad and garlic bread Grin one of my favourites.

Rough meal plan this week,

Tomos roast dinner at my mums Grin
Mon - bacon with salad and home made dressing.
Tues - Something from the freezer, maybe fish, chips and peas
Wed - prob macdonalds as going into town after school run (something going on at the local museum)
Thus - Jacket pots with various fillings and salad (hopefully be more successful this time!)
Fri - maybe scrambled eggs, bacon and beans (brinner Wink)

Needs to be a cheap week as pretty much potless now until payday.

Fluffycloudland77 · 21/02/2015 18:48

Good result on the phone there Bantam.

NK5BM3 · 21/02/2015 18:59

Went to the shops and bought 2 handbags. For my interview. I will return one. I couldn't decide and so brought two home for dh to help decide. £76. Returning one, so the spend will be £49.

fuzzpig · 21/02/2015 19:06

I've got a couple of pages to catch up on (seems to be moving very fast today!) but I just wanted to show off post about an EPIC frugal win!

I found that travelodge voucher (we got this when we complained about horrendous noise when we stayed at one in summer). Saw it expired on 6th March, so quickly searched on their site before work, as a homeschooler on here had recommended a Titanic exhibition in Southampton and my DD is obsessed with that topic. We are going on a Thursday since we don't have to worry about school, and it was £50 for a room plus £1.95 insurance.

I also got a vouchercloud email the other day with a £5 off code for travelodge. My evoucher was £46 so the hotel stay for our first home ed adventure is costing 95p :o :o :o

I'll see if I can get some other good deals to make the whole thing as cheap as we can, we have a railcard so the train is less than £30 return which is great and it's an easy journey.

DCs are beside themselves with excitement!

SpottyTeacakes · 21/02/2015 19:11

Great news Fuzzpig!

bantamgirl · 21/02/2015 19:11

Fuzzpig you DEFINITELY are the winner of the Feb Frugal Fred!!!! What a bargain. Enjoy your educational adventure x

fuzzpig · 21/02/2015 19:18

thanks :o I'm so pleased, the DCs don't really get to go away often (our 3 night stay at Milton Keynes - for bletchley park - was like Disneyland to them in summer!) so it's a real treat.

Goes to show it's worth complaining though. It wasn't in hope of getting money off (and certainly not that much!), it was that DD couldn't sleep - our room was above the attached Toby Carvery and the chefs had their music on really loud and turned it up louder when we complained Shock they couldn't move us as they were fully booked, DD was in a right state because she couldn't sleep til gone midnight IIRC.

SpottyTeacakes · 21/02/2015 19:21

Fluffycloudland77 · 21/02/2015 19:32

Fuzz that is amazing frugaleering. What horrible behaviour off the chefs though!.

Do you bake in oven or bread Maker? My mam makes soda bread brown in oven and a white one in a frying pan on hob!
I just don't think I d get use out of bread maker? Are they expensive?

No, I don't use a breadmaker - although I have in the past. If you haven't already got one, I wouldn't recommend you get one, since it's so easy to make it by hand.

Forget all you've heard about bread making being difficult, or taking a long time. I mainly teach families with young children, or adults with learning difficulties. At the most I'll have a couple of hours - and in that time we'll make at least two different breads.

I often make bread in the frying pan. My record is 13 minutes from thinking about making a simple soda bread to tucking in! Grin

Passthecake30 · 21/02/2015 20:16

£80 asda delivery cupboards no longer bare! £18.50 swimming lesson, and put a couple of bits on a fb site

CremeEggThief · 21/02/2015 20:46

Great results, Fuzz and MissA. Smile Smile

AdoraBell · 22/02/2015 01:32

£7 on mid afternoon coffees while shopping.

Still not added up yesterday's receipts.

babsmam · 22/02/2015 06:58

Fresh stuff in sainsbury £31. Should do us for most of next week. May need fruit yoghurt and smoothie but that should be it. I think it's aldi voucher day next Thursday so keeping a look out for that then will send dh on Friday with a list. Thankfully Iceland lidl and aldi are all in a line.

lilacclery · 22/02/2015 08:09

I remember that too fuzz Sounds like the dc will have a great time - do you have to keep records of what you're doing everyday with HE? Major bargain!

Yesterday's spends were exactly as I thought. I stretched dinner to 2 days. Dh was working late so his dinner was Fri night risotto with 2 marinated pork chops and some mushrooms and onions. The remainder of the chops I peppered & we'll have tonight with actifry chips I think. I had prawn salad & there's half a pack left for my lunch today. Dcs had pasta & cheese everyone happy.

It's a horrible wet day here so we'll be staying indoors so nsd. I'm going to wipe my iPhone as I've been offered €70 for it in its current unworkable state.

SpottyTeacakes · 22/02/2015 08:21

We've got bright sunshine here. Pondering what to do. The angel on one shoulder says stay in and bake a cake but the devil is saying go shopping as dh has offered to buy me some clothes.
