Thought I'd do the honours Smile

With kids back at school and autumn weather drawing in we all need a very sensible September. I'm putting up my thermal curtains and refusing to put on the heating until October. Who's in?

Spent £39 in Lidl today, which included a ginormous pack of 32 bog rolls for £9.99. Also spent £16 in Farmfoods (ace raw prawns), bringing the weekly shop in at £55 with quite a bit of stocking up done. Should be LSD tomorrow, then NSD Mon, Tue and hopefully Wed.

Haven't caught up for a while sorry... It's really been hectic at work.

Anyways, today spent £97 at Aldi Shock!! Not sure how... Well, there were lots of large purchases, like lots of juices, juice packs etc that we've not bought for a long time. Also got dd a princess bedtime clock as part of her birthday as she's really rubbish at sleeping... And hopefully this will be the trick.

Then £15 at morrisons as I needed some stuff that I'd forgotten. Then £45 at Tescos for things I'd forgotten even later... Blush Including a swing set for £37. I came home to look the item up on line, and turns out it's retailing at tesco direct for £119.99!!!! So I think we bagged ourselves a huge bargain.

Frugal things, I did topcashback on our car insurance and got £10 back or so. But even without that, we got the price down £100 cheaper than the renewal. So, happy about that.

Also, made potato leek soup with the chicken broth that I had made using the old chicken carcass from last weekend's Sunday roast. So... That's good and will last dh the whole week.

Tomorrow is Dd's party. She'll be 4. I have sandwiches to make, and chicken nuggets to heat up. Cookies have been baked, cake too. Oh some muffins I made last weekend that will be defrosted and iced.

And a flight to catch on Monday...! Have a good weekend all.

CoolCadbury · 20/09/2014 19:25

NSD today. Yay.

AliceDoesntLiveHereAnymore · 20/09/2014 19:36

Confused Our FarmFoods have 18pks of toilet roll for £3.99 (so 36 rolls for £7.98), just in case yours carry them as well. It's the Nicky brand, which is a good one.

I was a bit boggled at the idea of how much food £97 would be, as I usually spend between £40 and £45 and the trolley is full. Grin

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 20/09/2014 20:11

Spotty hope your hen night goes well Wine

Karen I can't quite believe it myself. ATM they are still being taxied by parents as there is no pública transporte where we are, but it's still mind bogling.

£5 on a month's worth of antihistamine. We need To pick up a few bits on our way home. I antisipate spending around 10 To 15 pounds from next week's grocery budget as need packed lunch stuff.

NK5BM3 · 20/09/2014 20:36

Lemme go check my Aldi bill....

NK5BM3 · 20/09/2014 20:46

Ok here it is:
24 cans coke 7.50
Cotton buds 35p
Mini cheese bakes 89p
12 Loo roll (might be doing an Olaf impersonation) 3.90
Small Juice packs 24 4.60
Big juice packs 12 8.64
Milk 6pint 1.42
Tins of soup x4 3.50
Deodorant x2 1.80
High juice 1.09
Bread x4 3.20 (party sandwiches)
Cheese 3.99
Sausage rolls x20 mini 1.80
Margarine 89p
Butter x4 3.80 (I bake on weekends)
Sausages x2 jars 3.50
Bananas 68p
Crisps 2.69 (party)
Clock 12.99
Peppers 89p
Chickpeas 39p
And so on....
It's all quite reasonable! I think it's because I'm catering for the party. I worry if there's not enough food and I resent having to nip out so I rather have more!!! Grin

chocolatedonut · 20/09/2014 20:53

Alice- I will be having a look in Farmfoods for the toilet roll- that's such a bargain! Grin

AliceDoesntLiveHereAnymore · 20/09/2014 20:55

Oh, no criticisms about your Aldi shop. Just wow! Grin

Fluffycloudland77 · 20/09/2014 20:56

I'm very relieved you like the tassimo ohhelp, I was worried you'd hate it.

I need a dress for an afternoon party for an adult, plus new shoes. I only have funeral dresses!. I wish there was a clothes equivalent for shoeaholics.

NK5BM3 · 20/09/2014 20:58

Alice - no worries! I had this paranoia that they somehow overcharged me! It's happened before...so they fly the stuff through the tills! Grin

AliceDoesntLiveHereAnymore · 20/09/2014 21:03

I generally budget for £40 a week from Aldi and a tenner for extras (farm foods, and so on). I budget for myself £20 spending money for myself per week (for incidentals), so if I splurge a bit and go over the £40, I pay for whatever is over £40 in cash out of my spending money and then the £40 comes out of my account. Keeps me careful of what I buy. Grin

NK5BM3 · 20/09/2014 21:19

East - good to hear that the swing's good. Let's hope dh manages to build it for tomorrow.

If it's any consolation my Aldi shops have tended to be below £40. That's for 2 adults and 2 kids 6 and 3. The 6 year old eats as much as a grown up - tonight he had the same share of food as us, 2-3 yorkies (I made them too!), 2 sausages and some snap peas. We had the soup too.

Adora - re your daughter and the bf.. I think that's quite sweet tbh. He clearly likes her and he wants to show it. As long as they both know that it doesn't mean that she has to 'return the favour' in another manner I think it's not so bad. Of course she could and should say 'next Saturday it's my treat!' And stick to it. Otherwise no going out.

confusedandemployed · 20/09/2014 21:21

I wasn't struck on Nicky bog roll last time. Mind you I'd hate to think I was missing out on a good deal so I'll try them next time. After all, there's only one place it's going...

NK5BM3 · 20/09/2014 21:26

MissA - sorry to hear you are still so poorly. Could they have misdiagnosed the first time round? Not trying to be scaring you.. Just frustrated that with the effort/cost etc that went into the first op you think they'd try and sort it.

My son was quite poorly 2 years ago and we ended up in great ormond st for 2 weeks and are still under their care. What frustrated me wasn't the gosh team. What annoyed me was how we got pushed around for 6 weeks or so and every gp/consultant fobbing us off and in the meantime my then 4 year old was losing weight and hurting a lot every night through high fevers and aching bones/rash.

Long story short we did manage to sort it and he's in remission but the 6-8 weeks of 'no your son is just having a temper tantrum/tired...' Makes me so mad.

Good luck in sorting it out. Thanks

PeoniesforMissAnnersley · 20/09/2014 21:51

NK they did indeed misdiagnose me - 5 months of being sent home with painkillers, having to beg for every scan and then wait weeks, drs insisting it must be a gynae issue despite the fact that all the symptoms were clearly GI related. Being told I had to "deal" better with the pain. Operated on in August and told I was cured despite the fact that they didn't find a source for the pus they found in my abdomen. I begged for CT scan repeatedly was told no because I am a "young woman" then had another attack last week was CTed and lo &
behold - I have a twist in my bowel caused by previous surgery which is cause of all my pain, the pus, everything. Shame they didn't sodding scan me in APRIL Angry now on list for surgery to correct it but have been sent home from that twice - scheduled for Monday but had terrible attack today so back in for pain management. This whole thing has been hell on earth.
NSD today though Smile

ah confused I love a bit of toilet humour... Grin

MissA they're damn lucky you're still okay. And my sympathies for the discomfort - it took a couple months for my diverticular disease to be diagnosed, and was only when I landed in hospital in an emergency situation that they did a scan and realised there was a perforation and massive infection. Hope you have a speedy recovery.

Fluffycloudland77 · 20/09/2014 22:26

Oh you poor thing missa, they are very lucky you haven't been worse with it.

Everything's gynae if you're female Angry

Are your employers covering your work for you?.
