Hi All,
I couldn't see a new thread yet, so thought I'd start one for July. The jacket potato is a marker for starting summer off on a frugal note. :).

NSD so far.

fluffy my voucher arrived today. Tbh I'd forgotten all about it. I need to do a small shop there this week so I pick something up then.

Fluffycloudland77 · 05/07/2014 14:02

Mine won't work online. Spent half an hour trying to get it to work.

Angry
SpottyTeacakes · 05/07/2014 14:24

Knew I shouldn't have got the dc's feet measured...

£50 on shoes

NK5BM3 · 05/07/2014 14:33

Omg. Went to Mothercare as friend just has baby, £14. But some stuff on 70% off and it's pretty good.

Then to lidl because I was closer there, and it was £72!!! I bought abit more meat because we really ran our fridge down but still!! Then to sainsburys as they didn't have some things £8.

Argh.

SpottyTeacakes · 05/07/2014 14:42

Oh I did get the shoes in the sale though so, er, frugal win?! And we're going to dp's aunts for a BBQ this afternoon so no need for dinner..

crazy crazy week and could not find this thread. I am on the thread because DH was made redundant last month and despite us supposedly earning a good wage each our previous spending and my retraining meant we had very little savings to fall back on making things extremely hard. Anyway DH has got himself a job this week, huge sigh of relief and starts at end of month. still won't gave any money until he gets paid in August but still feel much better. we have gone away to inlaws caravan this weekend. no cost for van and took all supplies from home so little cost whilst here. had some wine in fridge so bought that and just planning two days of doing nothing. have also had a chat with dh about more money going to pay off debts and build savings for future issues like this. will introduce him to ynab tonight and see if we can put a plan in place (and a bit more honesty from him about debts/bills etc) nearly died when I found our how much his car lease was costing him (and therefore now me) each month. much more than half my wage.

AdoraBell · 05/07/2014 16:33

Glad DH has another job Making, good luck with the chat. You really need to get him to understand that you both need to know how much is being spent where, other than pocket money that's already allocated.

My DH struggled a little with this concept because of his upbringing but he saw the light.

Need to get some bits today, will report sends later.

Fluffycloudland77 · 05/07/2014 16:44

NSD.

Charlieboo30 · 05/07/2014 17:29

Quite proud that shopping is £20 under budget this week. Did it online with sainsburys who had sent me a £10 off voucher. Delivered on Monday. Undecided whether to carry on with online shopping. I like the convenience and I seem to spend less but I find some of the stuff has short dates.

Passthecake30 · 05/07/2014 17:43

A fairly frugal day....visiting grandparents by the coast and spent about a fiver at the amusements and got their faces painted. ...really good...and for free! Yay. Happy kids and happy me...

BigBirthdayGloom · 05/07/2014 19:22

Spent £16 on birthday gift for my dm today. But no naughties.

FantaSea · 05/07/2014 19:44

Charlie I like the convenience of online shopping for food and love the fact that I haven't had to lug it all in from the car, but I agree, some of the dates are too short for me.

NSD here Smile

CremeEggThief · 05/07/2014 19:54

NSD :).

Welcome Makingchanges. Good luck with the chat!

Marking my place for July.
I've now done spreadsheets showing my reducing debt & increasing short term savings balances, and made a rough plan of being debt free except for mortgage in 2016.

Tomo I'm heading on a 3 night Lidl break with my brother & my two kids, he's home from Canada and has only met my baby today, it's 13 months since we last saw him. Break was a great deal, found cheap & free things to do around there & hotel has leisure centre. Will still enjoy ourselves.

Our electricity is done differently in Ireland, we pay bi monthly for usage. I signed up for a 12 month contract getting 8% disc & then I transfer weekly what I think is due so not hit with a big bill, this month owe a grand total of €6!

Been shopping.

Clothes for DDs about £50, DH paid
Groceries £70-ish

DD1 needs £7 on Monday because classmates persuaded the teacher that ordering pizza to eat in class is a good idea, FFS, and another £8 between the two relating to hockey on Monday night.

I am really looking forward to their winter hols.

AdoraBell · 06/07/2014 02:34

Opinions please.

On arriving home DH found that someone had left their scientific calculator on the drive and the dogs have had a good old chew on it. Obviously it's wrecked, but it belonged to a friend who stayed over last night.

So, before we tell friend's parents, do we have to pay for a replacement?

I think we do but I know DH will say it's the kid's fault for dropping it.

TIA

SpottyTeacakes · 06/07/2014 07:21

I'd plead ignorance and throw it away BlushGrin

Makingchanges · 06/07/2014 11:13

if my kid had dropped it I wouldn't expect you to pay.

fish and chips for tea last night. found a local one with some offers so £8 total for three of us.

DH was given some vouchers so breakie out again today on those. meaning I psid £13.75 total for our weekend away on fish and chips and ice cream and no more cost involved as took groceries from home. cheapest holiday everWink Wink

SpottyTeacakes · 06/07/2014 11:41

Sold old toy box for £15

CoolCadbury · 06/07/2014 12:05

Adora I would offer to pay for it but would hope that the parents would reject the offer. Obviously if they were not that polite, I would still pay for it.

flightdove · 06/07/2014 12:06

The key thing is to measure the penis, divide it by 4 and then bulk out. It works!

Fluffycloudland77 · 06/07/2014 12:43

Penis?

CoolCadbury · 06/07/2014 13:04

erm, maybe bulk it out using lentils, like other frugaleers? Grin
