Hi All,
I couldn't see a new thread yet, so thought I'd start one for July. The jacket potato is a marker for starting summer off on a frugal note. :).

NSD so far.

www.innocentdrinks.co.uk/vegpotofgold free innocent pot of veg coupon.

It'll need printing off though.

SpottyTeacakes · 15/07/2014 15:41

Mmm thanks fluffy I love them! They're currently half price in tesco.

EnglishRose1320 · 15/07/2014 16:13

Did the food shop for the week £32

School dinners for this week and next £12.60

Got a free hair cut! My friend is training and did a really good job, bless I have such thick hair it did take her all morning though.

Only downside to today, the car engine warning light has come on :( We only got the car 4 weeks ago, its not brand new but none the less, extra pain and possibly money- waiting to hear from the warranty people.

DownstairsMixUp · 15/07/2014 16:19

No spend day for me today.

I suspect it's being 33 weeks pregnant and it's baking hot - couldn't bear to move much!

Sixforgold · 15/07/2014 17:10

£10.80 from cash4clothes...DH had a sort out.

£6.11 spent in tescos but that should hopefully be dinners and lunch sorted until Friday. Tesco are doing a range of value vegetarian stuff. I'm not veggy but just wanted a little something to go with poached eggs tomorrow eve so bought 6 vegetable sausages for £1. I will let you know my verdict...!

Mon: store cupboard spaghetti (chunk of chorizo, a few olives, broccoli, garlic, chilli)
Tue: rtc salmon from the freezer served with rice and random veg (spring onion, green pepper, sugar snaps, radishes)
Wed: poached egg on toast with veggy sausages
Thur: DH will have £1 Aldi pizza from freezer, il be out at a school party so will scoff sausage rolls and twiglets!

Leftovers or ham sandwiches for lunches.

SpottyTeacakes · 15/07/2014 17:19

Oh dear, what a waste. I've done it too.

You won't do it ever again, I can promise you that.

NK5BM3 · 15/07/2014 19:32

Oh help - oh no!!!!!!! Shock That's hefty.

So today frugal people, I paid for the holiday. Going to Paris. Eurostar tickets, £606 for 6 people. And accoms £700 for 6 people, staying 4 nights. Please tell me you guys think it's ok?

I know it's not camping prices, but I have to cater for ages 3-75.

It's gone on the cc but I'll pay for it at the end of the month. It will be a tight month, so I will be trying not to spend on anything else tbh. We shall eat out our food cupboards beyond fresh stuff like fruit and veg. Having said that we have quite a lot of tinned stuff too, so might go for that first. Lots of UHT milk too (those of you who do drink it, it's £6 for 12 packets at lidl).

Sixforgold · 15/07/2014 19:45

ohhelp I am feeling your pain Sad totally a frugal nutcase that your first aargh! is for the wasted £70. What a lovely thing to do to think about the lady you may/maynot have taken taxi from - I think in the same situation I might not have even noticed if I had my own family in the taxi I'd be so fuming.

nk £100pp for 4 nights sounds good to me - where are you staying?

SpottyTeacakes · 15/07/2014 20:00

Oh no ohhelp Sad

NK5BM3 · 15/07/2014 20:20

Hi six
We are staying at an apt in Montmartre found through housetrip. It's fab. 3 bedrooms. Large living dining,

EnglishRose1320 · 15/07/2014 20:24

NK5BM3- sounds great and an apartment means you can still be frugal-ish with food! :)

Fluffycloudland77 · 15/07/2014 20:33

nk it sounds fab, think how much 4 nights for 6 would cost in the uk.

EnglishRose1320 · 15/07/2014 20:46

Possible frugal holiday opportunity- OH mentioned to a work friend that we were looking for a last minute holiday cottage, work friend said 'why don't you stay in our family holiday home in Norfolk' so if it's free on the right week this will be great- OH helpfully can't remember where in Norfolk.

I was just wondering does anyone know anything about Norfolk, good places to visit, family days out etc, I know nearly nothing about Norfolk I must confess.

DownstairsMixUp · 15/07/2014 20:51

Possible frugal save for people who online shop...

If you have never shopped with Sainsbo's online before they are offering £20 off a £60 spend shop! Just google it and it's the result from hotdeals and it definitely works, well, did for me!

AdoraBell · 15/07/2014 20:54

NSD for me. Friend wouldn't let me pay for her DD's calculator from last week which was a relief, and she bought me a scarf to say thank for a few favors, which was luffly but a bit Blush in the circs.

EnglishRose1320 · 15/07/2014 20:55

Ooh thanks Downstairs- will give that a go

NK5BM3 · 15/07/2014 20:56

Thank everyone!! Smile I really think housetrip is a really great website. You can see the ratings by others (like trip advisor) and you can also enquire and ask as many properties as you want. It depends on them to reply - so a good one would reply in an hour or so etcetera. I did think maybe I could try a travel lodge type place but I thought with the ages, it would be good to have an apt.

exhaustedmummymoo · 15/07/2014 20:59

Am on board thanks cremeegg for being such a goodegg!

CremeEggThief · 15/07/2014 21:17

£5 in Tesco, topping up a few things that I didn't get in yesterday's online order (about £45).

Yesterday was £7 on a staff meal out. We all had 3 courses for £4.95, as they do an early bird special if you order before 5 p.m.

Lots of fab places to go in Norfolk, we went last year. ...bewilderwood, dinosaur Isle (I think), wizard maze, day at Yarmouth doing slots etc and horse and cart along the front, a zoo, plus more beaches

£3 spent, bobbles, toothpaste and a sarnie

Supermum222 · 15/07/2014 21:54

NK,

We stayed in Paris and got the train into Disney. We had a 2 day pass. One say for the theme park, one say for Disney studio's next door. You would struggle to do it all in 1 day. There are a lot of hotels in a place called Val D'Europe. Very handy for Disney. Train station nearby and only one stop to Disney. Big shopping mall too and eating places. Handy for Paris also. We went into Paris a few times on the train.
