Thought I'd start a new thread for April Smile

OP posts:
BoffinMum · 14/04/2014 09:38

I should know by 13.30h whether I have won them or not!

BoffinMum · 14/04/2014 09:44

Nicename, friends of mine have trained as hypnotherapists and life coaches and made absolutely zero money back.
One trained as an acupuncturist and made that back, but she was already a physio.
I suppose if it was me I would look at massage therapy as that seems to be a constant and you can practise from home with little outlay other than couch and oils. I might specialise in stress relieving massages. One of my friends took it all very seriously and trained as a Tisserand aromatherapist and she was off the scale amazing, and built a good reputation really fast, I think. So that might be a good place to start, although I bet you need £££ to retrain?

BoffinMum · 14/04/2014 09:45

PS My aromatherapist friend said you can make a lot more selling the oils than giving the massages if you are business minded.

Fluffycloudland77 · 14/04/2014 09:56

Essential oils are VERY cheap if you buy them trade. I can see how you could make a good profit on them.

nicename · 14/04/2014 09:58

I knew a masseur who said that it wasn't a long term job because it really took it out on your hands.

BoffinMum · 14/04/2014 12:49

Nicename, I can see how the hands thing might be an issue. I suppose there is a balance between your hourly rate and the number of hours you have to work to feed yourself. Too low and you have to work very long hours and knacker your hands, too high and you will get few clients.

BoffinMum · 14/04/2014 12:52

I always thought how brilliant it would be if as a postnatal person you could turn up somewhere and have some clothes advice and the ability to buy a few key super flattering pieces or accessories, a destressing treatment, a mini facial and a hair tidy while someone watched the baby for you. Would there be a business in that?

BoffinMum · 14/04/2014 12:52

I bet the French get that on their equivalent to the NHS Grin

lilacclery · 14/04/2014 13:43

Well boffinmom did you get it?

Fluffycloudland77 · 14/04/2014 17:28

£15 on a scratch post for the cat.

£15 credit off John Lewis for messing up the shoe delivery.

So, zero spend in a way.

ilovepicnmix · 14/04/2014 20:41

4.20 on a swim for me and ds. 7.50 in Tesco on batteries and Sun cream. 2.62 in aldi.

Gogogodaddy · 14/04/2014 20:59

Hi all, NSD here but bought some reduced fish yesterday and made 7 portions of lovely fish pie for the kids for less than 7 pounds in total! Thrilled. Hope they eat it now! Still can't quite work out how to send my document to you guys, will keep trying

NK5BM3 · 14/04/2014 20:59

Returned my m&s dress as although it's lovely it's white, and I have very grubby 3 and 6 year olds. I realised how I reacted v badly to them when I wore some beige trousers on the weekend and was constantly telling them not to touch me. Hmm Not good. So decided to return. £40.

Paid for full tank of petrol £64. So I guess I spent £24.

Then took ds to beach and bike ride. Spent £5 on hot dog, bacon roll and two lollies. Only the hot dog was mine.

Oh and £33 at harvesters as we are bashing kitchen down. Had food in fridge but no real way to get ready in time when I was still at the beach at 5. And dh had to collect dd. Tomorrow we will have fridge stuff....

BoffinMum · 14/04/2014 21:00

Was it One Pound Fish, gogogodaddy? Grin

BoffinMum · 14/04/2014 21:01

Six for five pounds one pound fish

Gogogodaddy · 14/04/2014 21:09

Grin Grin That cracked me up and I feel tipsy even though I haven't touched a drop!

MissMysticFalls · 14/04/2014 21:14

So here's a new incentive for being frugal. If anyone's planning to get a mortgage soon, from 26th April, lenders will want to see the last three months bank statements to check out how much you spend on average (I.e. Looking at if you will be able to afford repayments). We're hoping to apply soon so I need to get DP in line too!

SpottyTeacakes · 14/04/2014 21:17

Pfft we'd be lucky to get a mortgage on a beach hut Grin. sobs quietly into value tea

Fluffycloudland77 · 14/04/2014 21:21

I bet they don't even give mortgages on beach huts. No kitchen sink=no mortgage afaik.

One day spotty, I never thought we manage it. Now we've just got to pay for the fucker.

NK5BM3 · 14/04/2014 21:25

Beach huts here go for £20-35k. Seriously....! Shock
