Thought I'd start a new thread for April Smile

OP posts:

insideleg you're welcome Smile - you will be fine with the smaller ones, they work very well if you don't use a huge amount of milk.

My friend has long life cartons to save her going out for milk - she says she is used to it, but it takes funny to me in tea. I think I'll stick to my freezing.

insideleg · 06/04/2014 13:00

The long life milk reminds me of camping as a child. Weird flavour in my cornflakes!

Iamnotanugget · 06/04/2014 14:04

We freeze milk and I don't find it makes a difference to how long it lasts once defrosted but that could be because we go through about 18 pints a week here so fresh or frozen it rarely has a chance to go off.

Day trip got cancelled, which is a shame but probably saved a few pounds. Instead we're having a family viewing of Frozen. I really must make plans for the Easter holidays, we can't do back to back dvds for 2 weeks but being heavily pregnant and broke it's going to be quite a challenge not to. I'll have a look at the what's on guides.

£6.50 on a roller frame to put the rollers on.

SpottyTeacakes · 06/04/2014 16:01

I'm writing off today Grin

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 06/04/2014 16:23

When u freeze milk how do u stop it leaking as I find it expands n a little comes out the top n down side of bottle only way doesn't is to tip about 30-40mls out n then freeze - my friends don't have this issue n wonder if because I had to lay it down although now have chest freezer so could store upright in freezer.

Been swimming today David Lloyd have free 14 day trial sign up online had 10min show round n worth it just for swimming did 7 day free trial last yr around Easter n sales pitch at end wasn't too bad they told me price I said how much don't think so and that was that!!

CoolCadbury · 06/04/2014 16:40

Grin @ spotty

northender · 06/04/2014 16:43

Yesterday was an NSD. Today we've spent £3 on match subs for Ds' football. I've made a curry for later but as a treat we'll get a few extras (bhajis and samosas) from the takeaway.

CoolCadbury · 06/04/2014 16:44

Spent £14 at Tesco's. Bought bread and present, card and giftbag for new baby. Oh and a Lego Mixel for DS Blush. Sometimes, I think it's me who has the Lego addiction, not DS. Hmm

ilovepicnmix · 06/04/2014 17:07

Did my day's work for a friend so 50 earned. Spent 6.18 in coop. Was hoping for loads of yellow stickers but they just weren't bargain enough.

FantaSea · 06/04/2014 17:39

eastmids I freeze my milk with the top higher than the bottom as I can't stand the bottles upright, so just prop them up on something else in there, and they are always ok.

I've done a Tesco online shop for £64 and used the '£15 off when you spend £60' voucher so I'm very happy Smile . I also picked an off-peak delivery slot so have only had to pay a £1 for delivery.

iloveithere · 06/04/2014 18:45

FantaSea, I'm impressed with the £1.00 delivery slot, the cheapest I can see is £3.00 Does it depend where you live?

CoolCadbury · 06/04/2014 18:52

Would it be too cheeky to invite DP as a friend to shop at Ocado so that we both get £20 each off? Or is it a no-no?

SpottyTeacakes · 06/04/2014 18:57

I did Cadbury....

I'm really Angry I've had to turn the heating back on it's so bloody cold!

CremeEggThief · 06/04/2014 20:07

NSD. I'll read through later.

FantaSea · 06/04/2014 20:56

iloveithere I don't know if it depends where you live. The £1.00 slots are 1pm-3pm on Tuesday and Wednesday and also 10pm-11pm in the week if I remember correctly. I was really surprised it was so cheap Smile .

iloveithere · 06/04/2014 21:08

1-2 on Tuesday and Wed is £4.00 here, with 2-3 being £3.00. 10-11 is between 3.00-4.50 depending on the day. And we live in a town, about 7 minute drive from a huge extra store. Almost worth doing click and collect, actually, I wonder if there is a charge for that?

FantaSea · 06/04/2014 21:17

iloveithere I don't know if you have to pay for click and collect - I would imagine you would. The different stores must charge individually as I have just checked the information I gave you on my last post and it is correct. I had my coupon to use which was £15 off your first online shop when you spend £60 so I am wondering if our local store is trying to drum up business?

AdoraBell · 07/04/2014 01:25

NSD Sat, Sun took DDs to spend their pocket money, I spent £3 on coffee and £1.40 on roads. Parking was on a prepaid card.

Should only need veg and yoghurt this week.

Will try to catch up later.

ItalianWiking84 · 07/04/2014 09:07

FantaSea she has more clothes than her parents lol.... But I absolutely love buying it :D

SpottyTeacakes :D Sometimes it shouldnt be about money, but about the joy in life and memory :) Hope you and your family had a lovely day....

CoolCadbury lol... I would... Did when we lived in UK with Tesco, hehe

Yesterday was nsd, but we need to buy groceries today or tomorrow, before DP goes to work rest of the week, cant carry it all alone anymore with the belly, lol... And NL do not do delivery of groceries... But groceries should be cheap this week, my DP works as a chef, so eats at work dinner/lunch 5 days a week and in the weekend my parents are coming from DK, YAAAAAAAI

SpottyTeacakes · 07/04/2014 10:23

Should be a nsd as I'm not leaving the house. Sometimes rain is good Grin

CoolCadbury · 07/04/2014 10:28

I was supposed to taking DS to the cinema but the film started at 10 am - what a ridiculous time to start. But it does mean its a nsd Grin. We are stuck at home all day though [sigh].

expectingnumber3 · 07/04/2014 10:29

Have been useless at frugaleering recently and have missed loads on this thread, especially babies! Congrats Possibly and good luck Iam and Italian. My dc3 is bliss, mostly as I know he is the last, sadly.

Managed 2 NSD's last week but managed to spend £2 on yoghurt and crackers yesterday, a very random spend! Off to Aldi in a bit with all 3 dc's in tow to do a massive shop, we have run out of everything. Slightly dreading it! I have promised to take them into town as well and they are allowed to chose 2 craft activities each from Wilko's or the pound shop to do this week, and they seem very excited about that! I've already got stuff to make easter cards and cakes, and also some seeds to plant for the veg patch so planning a busy and frugal week with the dc's.

I'm also hoping to do a few cheap days out too as they get a bit cabin feverish if we stay in all week in the holidays. The library has got some stuff on and we are going to the Nat History museum in Oxford too - its fab with dinosaurs and free too! We are going on the bus as it is cheaper than parking all day in the city and ds is insane with excitement about that. It may be the highlight of the week! Has anyone got any other tips of cheap/free days out? Hoping the weather improves so we can go for walks and picnic, entertaining them in the rain in so hard!

Fluffycloudland77 · 07/04/2014 10:34

National trust parklands usually free. I see lots of people parking up at our local one and going off on long walks.

If you are near Oxford there must be loads of nat trust places.
