As we filled the old thread, thought I'd start a new one for February.

NK glad to see that DS is on the mend and I hope is well again very soon. It's very worrying when you can't control the fever though.

All is well here, had a lovely holiday and I only spent the follówing

£7 liqure I can't get here
£2 jam, as above
£6 leather Belt with local scenes as my jeans were falling down. The first two were planned spends.

DDs spent 5 and 4.5 week's pocket money. DH spent a little but a big surprise was that ítems allegadly included in the cost of the holiday had to be paid for. Lot's of unhappy peeps.

DH is currently trying To call the water company as the £240 we paid last month has disappered from their récords so they are cutting the supply off for non payment.Angry
No idea how long it will take to sort.

Fluffycloudland77 · 17/02/2014 16:34

That's a bit quick isn't it Adora? They don't hang about do they. Glad you had a good holiday.

£3 lunch Blush

£2.50 work supplies so its claimable.

CremeEggThief · 17/02/2014 18:52

Glad your DS is on the mend, NK.

£1.99 on white spirits here.

BigBirthdayGloom · 17/02/2014 18:54

Spent £27 on Hedrin and new nitty gritty comb because we're not at home. I flipping hate headlice Hmm. Another cafe visit-having to record here makes me see a pattern - £4.40. And £2.50 on magnetic strip for a craft project. So much for no spending at the in laws. But did take dc to the library here which they loved. Will do better tomorrow.

FreelanceMama · 17/02/2014 19:29

adora I thought they weren't allowed to cut your water supply off - someone told me that who used it as an excuse to not pay!

ilovepicnmix · 17/02/2014 19:30

Feel like I'm getting over my tonsilitis so good day here. I can eat again! Yippee.

5.60 on two hot drinks for me and my granny in Starbucks. Made sure I got a free pot of froth/babychino for DS to soften the blow a little. 1.99 on milk and bananas. Was treated to a lovely lunch out so can't complain.

Fluffycloudland77 · 17/02/2014 19:32

Adoras in Chile.

FreelanceMama · 17/02/2014 19:34

Oh. Bugger! Sorry adora.

NK5BM3 · 17/02/2014 21:25

Thanks all. Ds is on antibiotics and doing well. Thankfully the friends who agreed to take him today for half term still took him and he had a fab time. Dh and I had to work and typically this week is hectic. Like tomorrow I have a 9am class which I'm taking for a colleague.

Today I spent £6 at Sainsburys on bread, potatoes, soap and toothpaste.

Tomorrow will have to spend £15 on football (half term). But like I said with friends taking ds it's helping to save £30 at the very least.

Thanks, yep here in Chile, and a few other places, it just doesn't work that way. The phone number didn't work so tomorrow he's going to their office.

Also need to get groceries tomorrow so will be in town close ish to their office anyway.

Ohhelp hope you feel better soon. My DH does that with "stuff" too, can you bag it up quickly so he can't get his mits on it? or write a very large note to leave on top of it?

Iamnotanugget · 18/02/2014 08:22

Hi all, I haven't been able to check in for a few days but I have been keeping up with you. Tesco delivery has arrived, £110.63 (although £5.89 is being refunded as I didn't want the substitutes) and this morning I've had a price promise voucher for £5.19 which I'm a bit Shock at as it's a lot on a fairly small shop. Will have to go out and buy missing bits today. I will take a list as I'll have dcs with me and they always seem to increase tghe bill!

Going to meet friends at local over priced attraction but dcs love it and I'm taking a packed lunch and various vouchers and using bus pass bought earlier so hoping day out will be under £10.

Hope everyone who is unwell are on the mend and you get your water supply fixed today adora.

Oh dear ohhelp days like this are rubbish. I did Grin when I saw you had the dentist to top it all off - why do all these crap things come on the same day?! You absolutely must buy yourself something unnecessary to compensate; just be frugalistic and set yourself a small budget...trashy mag and a packet of digestives?! I'm trying to do a bit of decluttering but also selling stuff and the transition is really difficult space-wise (I used to get it out the door to charity shop ASAP, but now I'm trying to sell it inevitably hangs around for a while) I've got all my bits in stackable boxes which I can at least shove to the side of the spare room if we have guests!

I did my shop-to-the-end-of-the-month yesterday. I had £22.75 left in food budget and with my voucher managed to get it in at £16.70 leaving me £6.05 for any top up before next Friday. I have a bit of a frugal rant though...I always used to shop at tesco, switching to Aldi more recently, however yesterday I went to asda as this was where I had a voucher for. Really pleased with all of their products except one...value loo roll! We like the stuff from tesco and Aldi, doesn't feel or look cheap but the asda equivalent looked horrible! Went for the slightly more expensive but felt cheated!

We have £50.50 left in our everything else budget. Car is currently at the garage. Hoping for a miracle!

expectingnumber3 · 18/02/2014 11:16

Ohhelp, you are having a rotten time! Hope things improve for you. I too have a dh who is incapable of putting stuff away and doesn't seem to notice clutter. Drives me mad! I had a week long sort out last year and it made a massive difference. Have now got a system for dealing with post, general stuff and clutter and toys too. Its made our house a much nicer place to be so it is def worth it. Good luck!

Adora, hope your water is back on today.

Another NSD for us here. Off to dm's for lunch as we all need a change of scene. Carrying on with potty training and think we are getting there. Ds just didn't go at all yesterday until he had his nappy back on at bedtime, but at least I now know he can hold on if he needs too! Just need to persuade him the potty is a good thing!

ilovepicnmix · 18/02/2014 13:32

NSD for me. That's my relatives away now and back to work and reality tomorrow. Boo.

ohhelp poor old you. Hope you're feeling better soon.

Fluffycloudland77 · 18/02/2014 13:53

The only thing worse than a messy dh is an ultra tidy one. I leave stuff out to vex mine.

£3 on 70l of compost in wickes.

£2 on butter & milk in aldi

£8 on cat litter, dw salt, rinse aid and a car sponge in tesco.

£7 on petrol.

Boiler stopped heating water this morning but its under gaurantee & I can use electric to heat it so its no biggy. They are coming to look at it tomorrow.

Lets hope that car bill isn't a shocker turnoffthelights

MissAnnersleyismyhero · 18/02/2014 15:13

fluffy Id take a swap with a tidy one for a week or two! Grin just spent all morning tidying up the wake of destruction DH leaves every time he puts a nail in the wall for a picture... he has 5 toolboxes and a large plastic bucket thing, all full of disorganized random DIY stuff, he can never find anything, and when I ventured into the cupboard under the stairs just now I found hundreds of screws, plastic doo-dahs, tools etc scattered everywhere.

And breathe.

SpottyTeacakes · 18/02/2014 15:24

Argh bloody screws!! Forever loitering on my window sils Angry

nicename · 18/02/2014 15:26

and it's half term... not a cheap time!

DH is on the last few weeks before redundancy kicks in and the winter gas bill has arrived (quite high).

I just know that some large white good is about to die on us!

Oh well, I managed to convert £5 of Tesco voucher into £20 worth of Pizza Express vouchers, so can take the little 'un and his pal out for a half term pizza treat, costing me nothing!

Turnoffthelights · 18/02/2014 16:10

Car = £65! Takes us over budget but I'm so relieved it isn't more.

Also spent £5 getting the windows at the front of the house cleaned by a guy going knocking door to door. I was only thinking this morning how grubby they were and this guy looked like he needed the work so works well for both of us.

3 frugal things: joined tesco orchard, will hopefully get something yummy to try at some point! Added a handful of porridge oats and a large grated carrot to really bulk out my bolognaise. Had offered to take a friend out for tea and cake as it's her birthday but the cafe was packed and the children were starting to have a melt down so we had tea at my house instead.
