Arse, I always manage to miss the free listing weekends. Anyone know when the next one is?

Fluffycloudland77 · 10/06/2013 08:29

I missed the free listing too. Bugger.

I even checked on eBay to see if it was free listing, nothing said it was. It's usually every two weeks that its free listing.

Desperately need some cheques to arrive, I've got £2000 due to me and £90 in the bank. Brilliant.

takeaway2 · 10/06/2013 09:52

Morning everyone! eBay has released my funds to me! (New seller and all that!) so yay I have £46 or something like that which is great.

But not a NSD as paid £8 for afterschool club for the DS and £6.60 (although that's daddy's money!) for school dinner. Brought lunch to work. Smile Happy Monday everyone.

MamaTo2FabBoys · 10/06/2013 10:46

Still on 4/16 as spent icecream money on sat and bought nice fruit yesterday but hopefully can get back on track today.

northender · 10/06/2013 11:42

Back after a horrendously spendy 10 days away so need to get back on the wagon and fast! We had a fab time though so it was worth it.

Aldi shop this morning £113 which will do for 3-4 weeks. Have a really busy week coming up so have meal planned and will try to keep checking in to keep on the straight and narrow.

Raaraathenoisybaby · 10/06/2013 13:40

5 quid dorms in library fees! Otherwise NSD as plans canceled so we have done library and park. I borrowed a money saving book Grin

Meanwhile I have a 6 month old dd and I finally started using the cheeky wipes kit I bought with dd1 3 years ago! They are brilliant - more effective so you use less and I have to wash them about once a week maybe. I used to buy piles of wipes - no more Grin when I've shifted more stuff on eBay I'm getting a top up set of wipes so I can take them out and about Grin they were 40 and they have paid for themselves over about 4 months I reckon Grin

roguepixie · 10/06/2013 15:13

Hi Adora, am trying to catch up with the thread ... are you moving? Within your adoptive country or back to the UK? Whichever it is I hope it works out well.

NSD yesterday and will be one today Smile so am starting as I mean to carry on. Have defrosted some ham and some stock for risotto tonight so working my way through the freezer too Smile

Spent much of yesterday on Ebay and Amazon. Ebay is seriously rubbish for selling books, Amazon is slow and they take a bit in fees but at least you end up earning a little bit per book. Spending today putting more items on Ebay so I hope to have some earnings by this time next week.

AdoraBell · 10/06/2013 16:16

North glad you had such a fab time.

Rouge we're trying to sell, need to actually, and hopefully return to the UK. I'd love to stay but can't justify to potential downside for DDs. Chilean Uni degrees are not recognized abroad, women's right are still not good enough, inheritance laws are punitive. Not that we have much but if OH were to pop his clogs here we would probably loose the house because of the tax payable in order for me to inheret it. And if course we're all forrin women too.

Today I need fruit juice, fruit, veg, milk and a new water filter jug as I dropped and broke mine last week. Off out soon and will report back later.

SpangleMaker · 10/06/2013 23:12

NSD yesterday and £4 today on soft play - more of a social thing for me, the soft play is to keep the DC amused Grin. One of the other Mums bought me a coffee and I sneaked in lunch for the DC.

Inspired by the Frugal in Cornwall blog Artemis linked to I have cobbled together lunches for work this week from various leftovers. I've run out of bread and was going to pop to M&S - which would have ended up being £10 plus - but I found a few random bits lurking around and managed to combine them into a semblance of a meal. I also did a stock take and I'll do some meal planning on the train tomorrow.

AdoraBell · 11/06/2013 02:37

Spent £50 plus £2.40 on roads as new centre is of the old, cheap road. Then £5 collecting DD from a classamate's after monitor study.

MamaTo2FabBoys · 11/06/2013 07:15

Nsd yesterday so 5/16. Going to Tesco With my £5 of £40 voucher so will use that to save a bit. Everyone seems to be doing well. SpangleMaker we often do that and have a bit of a random bits and bobs dinner to use up leftovers. Smile

Helenagrace · 11/06/2013 07:31

Which region of the UK will you move to Adora?

Planning an NSD tomorrow and had one at the weekend so that will be three.

roguepixie · 11/06/2013 12:34

Forgot I had to spend £10.00 yesterday for DS's spare pair of glasses to have new lenses in.

£10.00 today in DS's wallet - emergency money.

It WILL be a NSD tomorrow. Argh.

AdoraBell · 11/06/2013 13:25

Helena we've been looking in Somerset, but ILs are putting pressure on OH to move back in with them where they want us to live.

Helenagrace · 11/06/2013 13:32

Adora My in laws were similar. "But you could have lived nearer to us and had the same commute" they said. "there will be an ice age in hell before I do that" "we like being by the sea" we said.

Need to buy bread today but no spending otherwise.

Fluffycloudland77 · 11/06/2013 14:00

I've got some carrots that are going soft so I'm going to freeze them for soup bases.

What is it with carrots? Always go soft. I'm using an old bag of dried chickpeas for hummus tomorrow too, I'm trying to not waste anything at the moment. I can't believe I ever bought frozen potato wedges, so easy to make.

KinkyDorito · 11/06/2013 14:03

Hello - I will join you if that's okay?

We need to be frugal. There's a few things coming up that will have to be on credit, but then the line is drawn and we must get ourselves sorted out financially.

I started last week, but already 'just bought' a couple of things. I don't think the lightbulb really went on until I cleared two car-loads of tat to the charity shop at the weekend and realised all I'm doing is working full time to keep us in indulgent clutter and tat that we then give away (I knnow, I should have car-booted or e-bayed, but I'd just got beyond it I think - we were drowning under stuff). It needs to end. On the money we earn, we should have a lovely house and lots of options, but instead we burn through money on ridiculous things. I dread to think what we have spent on takeaways since we've been married. My waistline is not thanking me either.

So, I am trying to make a concerted effort not to buy things unless they are needed.

My own personal challenge is to ignore all the books I want to read until I've read all the ones I've already bought. I won't be buying a book for MONTHS...

My other challenge is to get what we own to fit in the storage we have and keep the house tidier. I am working on the notion that clutter breeds clutter and that if it's tidy, I won't want anything else to mess it up.

KinkyDorito · 11/06/2013 14:06

Another great blog for you:

Fluffycloudland77 · 11/06/2013 14:20

Everyone's welcome.

AdoraBell · 11/06/2013 16:09

Fluffy we've all bought stuff we could have made at some time. The carrots will be fine in soups. I currently have lot's of kiwi fruit, gifted to me, I'm going try and squeeze a few ice lollies into the freezer.

KinkyDorito is there a library near you, either at home or work?
We've recently decluttered to try and sell the house and I've found that it's so much more relaxing and pleasant to live without all the toot that I've stopped buying stuff. Another good trick is one in, one out. You only buy something if you've already made space for it by getting rid of something else.

DDs need clothes for book day on Friday, it should be voluntary at their level but DD2's teacher is attaching a mark to the costume with will go towards whichever test it is. She seems to be a leeetle bit over jealous with the grades so DD2 is going to have learn to work with the teacher on this.

Raaraathenoisybaby · 11/06/2013 16:57

1.80 pb! Please explain cooking wedges Grin
Oh bugger I paid the cleaner today....still good for me though.
Going to keep going with eBay and shift the maternity clothes. A friend has seen a 65 quid holiday to Cyprus I will post if its any good Grin

SpangleMaker · 11/06/2013 16:59

Hello & welcome KinkyDorito (love the name btw). I've only been here a few days but it's already made me think more carefully before parting with cash.

Had to do a bit of spending today: £14.20 train, £18 Amazon on niece's birthday pressie plus some A2 folders to store DC artwork (currently piled on top of fridge), £7 in M&S on chocolates for Father's Day, tea bags and unnecessary snacks. Only £2 on the unnecessary items though - definitely an improvement. I should've bought biscuits for a meeting I'm hosting tomorrow but have decided I'll bake a cake Shock

Fluffy - thanks for advice about the parsley - I'll do that when I get back. I'm looking forward to growing some herbs in the garden at the new house.

MinimalistMommi · 11/06/2013 18:09

Kinky loved what you said about the lightbulb moment, I realised it a few years ago and it takes a lot for me to actually buy anything now. I don't buy books for example, just pay 80p to reserve them at the library and then once I've read them they don't clutter my house up.

takeaway2 · 11/06/2013 18:48

NSD 4!! Grin Went to sainsburys to drop off prescription and then walked back out again! V happy. Brought lunch to work today but there was a free lunch so ate that instead. DS had packed lunch.

Roll on tomorrow. Should be another NSD as am at work, busy with meetings etcetc.

Fluffycloudland77 · 11/06/2013 19:42

Potato wedges recipe www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/potatowedgeswithrose_86029 much nicer than shop bought, sometimes I just sprinkle Cajun seasoning over them.
