Anyone else with Covid at the moment and finding it severe?

Currently I’ve got a very bad case of covid. Unfortunately didn’t have the vaccine early this year. It’s the 2nd worst case of covid since the first one back in 2020. I’ve had it several times since then, but those really weren’t bad cases. I’m wondering if anyone else has covid and if it’s a bad one.

I just had mine, DH won't have it because 'lots of people die from the vaccine' if he gets it I will be bloody annoyed.

If my DH had that kind of paranoid attitude, he'd soon be an ex-husband.

Why test for Covid nowadays? Is it actually worse than any other cold virus? I didn’t even know you could still test.

Because people are still getting very ill and dying from it.

One of our neighbours was hospitalised a few weeks ago and caught covid in hospital and died after a few days in ICU.

It still spreads like wildfire in hospital wards.

If you are immunosuppressed or if you have a relative or friend that is, then knowing if its flu or Covid makes a very big difference.

Surely you wouldn't go anywhere near someone immunocompromised if you had any kind of cold/flu/COVID though? Current strain does sound nasty 😕

I am the immunocompromised one, but I still have a life to lead and am often in situations and around people who are ill.

I am vaccinated for both flu and Covid but if I get ill and test early, I then can get antivirals. And no, most people don’t care about spreading their germs around, and I get it to a certain extent, which is why I have to look after me, by wearing masks when needed and making sure I’m vaccinated and have tests at hand.

Sadly, lots of people don't give a shit about the risk to other people. My DH is immunocompromised due to years of chemotherapy. He was recently in hospital for a major leg operation (damage to bone caused by his treatment!), and in a private side room for infection control, with signs on the door, a "cleaning station" outside the door with gloves, masks, aprons, hand gel, etc., but the sheer number of doctors and nurses who came straight in without any care at all was ridiculous - he had to keep "reminding" them he was immunocompromised and would they mind washing their hands or putting gloves on before examining him or taking obs etc. It's no wonder that infections run riot through hospital wards! Some of them were coughing and sneezing and weren't even "catching" their sneezes in tissues.

Man. Got it here. Started with pains all over my back and shoulders after the weekend. Pains now largely better but replaced with bad cold-like symptoms and cough. I keep thinking I'm improving, only to then feel crap again.

Tested positive using an out of date test from the cupboard, but apparently positive results are still accurate.

You wouldn’t know who is immunosuppressed @Thecows. They include people who work out of the house.

I’ve been floored by Covid - so unwell with it. Fed up of catching it so often. Who has time for this! Nothing much in the news but had to cancel a hospital apt and the consultant said there was lots of it around. I’ve had it multiple times now but this time is really bad - I’ve been in bed with a fever and full body aches and pains for a few days. It’s rubbish. Anybody else suffering? Yes I know we don’t need to test. But I had some tests at home and it’s run through the whole family so it’s good to know what it is.

There is quite a bit of a fuck it factor towards infection in healthcare, which is awful.
