If you/your child/someone you know etc have health issues as a result of covid, what number infection was it and when was it? Mine was Easter 2022 and my first infection, although other issues arose from another infection.

October 22 caused the main problems then a reinfection August last year made it worse

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 06/03/2026 15:59

During Eat Out to Help out - 2021, I think it was.

youalright · 06/03/2026 16:03

August 2022 first infection

martha79 · 06/03/2026 16:07

I think I had it (first infection) in March last year, although tested negative (but friends I'd been around had same symptoms and positive tests). Didn't feel right in a lot of ways all year, then definitely had it in October and have been quite unwell since - long COVID diagnosis in December.

DemBonesDemBones · 06/03/2026 16:51

March 2020 I was hospitalised. I’ve had 13 confirmed infections since.

2022 haven’t been able to work since it’s destroyed my life

dizzydizzydizzy · 06/03/2026 17:04

February 2022. First infection. Can’t remember where I got it or if I even knew at the time where I got it.

Backtothe90ties · 06/03/2026 17:30

December 2020 from my workplace.

MassiveOvaryaction · 06/03/2026 19:20

My long covid was finally diagnosed in 2024 when my ability to push through the fatigue etc gave up and everything just stopped. Pretty sure I had it before that. My first infection was March 2020 and LC was diagnosed after bout number 9 (Dec 2023). Had it a couple more times since then too.

MyTrivia · 06/03/2026 19:22

The person I know with LC and very severe life issues as a result had asymptomatic Covid in August 2020 and then developed LC very shortly afterwards.

Mine too, @Sensitivestomach - I wasn’t working, so I haven’t lost that, but it has reduced my mobility to near zero - I can walk around the house, slowly and struggling, but have recently got a wheelchair, so I can go out. I am using a walker to get from the car to the library for knitting group, and I’m registered disabled.

I would like to think I might recover in the end, but so far, I have just deteriorated further and further, and I’m finding it very hard to be even the slightest bit optimistic.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 06/03/2026 20:07

Sorry for whingeing.

cherrymauve · 06/03/2026 20:08

I believe it started in August 2021 but took a year to diagnose. I’m improving but still have issues and have to be vigilante and to care for myself.

Goldmonkey · 06/03/2026 20:09

March 2020

Sunflowers1982 · 06/03/2026 20:16

March 2020.

Still completely housebound and my whole life has changed. It’s actually only because it’s a very rare ‘good’ day that I have the ability/energy to even read/write this.

Pre-2020 I was a fit, active, busy primary school teacher.

Norugratsatall · 06/03/2026 20:46

March 2020 here too. Six years…..I lead a very ‘measured’ life now. Currently in an awful fatigue relapse but, when I’m well, I lead a near normal life.

Mossstitch · 06/03/2026 21:04

10 days before first lock down, unable to work for a year then very part time. I'd say took two years to feel 95% normal.

Swanhilde · 06/03/2026 21:54

November 2022. Seem to be lots on 2022 ...

Therescathairinmybath · 06/03/2026 22:02

July 2024 my first time getting covid. It took 6 weeks to test negative and 6 months to stop coughing. My symptoms are minor now but I still have no sense of smell, almost no sense of taste, skin issues and of course fatigue.

Wutheringlight · 07/03/2026 15:40

I’m sorry to all going through this. Here’s hoping for some breakthroughs to give us some of our lives back. It’s awful at any age obviously, but I really really feel for all the children with it and the increasing number that will be added to that group. It also messes with my head when I see those who I shopped for in lockdown etc having far more capacity than I do now.

Not me but my partner, summer 2023 1st infection and like others it's pretty well wrecked his life.

Hazyjinty · 09/03/2026 15:21

Officially diagnosed in feb 2021. But had been ill since October 2020, had to take medical retirement and things are getting worse, as others I now have a wheelchair and life is just passing me by

lalalalooby · 09/03/2026 15:32

Infections followed by long covid March 2020 and March 2022, I now have moderate/severe ME. Was medically retired from the NHS December 2023. I'm waiting for my life to return.

RuddyLongCovid · 13/03/2026 22:08

Yay, a useful thread for my username! :)

LC since April 2024 (3rd infection); re-infected at least twice since. LC can do one, frankly... it's messed up so much in my life... Hugs to anyone affected xx
