How long were you poorly with Covid?

I've just tested positive for Covid, feeling rubbish and I'm away on holiday. Starting feeling unwell about 3 days ago but got worse today.

How long are people feeling unwell for with it at the moment? (I'm normally healthy and mid 30's if that makes any difference).

Just wondering what to expect and whether I might get to actually enjoy any of this holiday!

😥I'm hoping I'll be better in a few days but last time I had it was about 8 days! :(

The first time I had it really badly. I barely moved for 2 weeks and just slept through the majority of it.

The second time I thought I had a cold and only did a test because it was mandatory at work. I was better a few days later. Really bizarre.

OhBeAFineGuyKissMe · 05/08/2024 17:41

It has varied hugely. First time was 3+ weeks (alpha before any vaccinations). Other times (I have been very unlucky/ work in school) have been one and two weeks. Some people throw it off quicker and some barely have symptoms.

Sorry to hear you are feeling rubbish.

Jifmicroliquid · 05/08/2024 17:52

After picking up a bit, I feel bad again on day 9. Im
pouring with sweat and just feel hot and ill.

lolaran · 05/08/2024 21:33

Positive for 10 days and in bed all of those days. I'm sorry you have it on holiday.

LuckysDadsHat · 05/08/2024 21:34

Coming up to 4 weeks and still feel absolutely exhausted. The first 2 weeks I felt really unwell though, now just left with exhaustion.

BirthdayRainbow · 05/08/2024 21:35

9 months. I had it right at the beginning of 2020. Second time much shorter thank goodness but still a good couple of weeks.

betterangels · 05/08/2024 21:36

Nine weeks. It was a nightmare.

MrsSpencerCharnas · 05/08/2024 21:41

1st time about 2 days feeling really rough then another couple of days feeling ill, but not too bad.
2nd time I only knew I had it as I tested. I was sat in between 2 people who tested positive after a meal we went to
This time I'm on day 10. Not feeling as bad as I did last week, but not feeling great either.

I think my 2nd time was probably better due to the vaccinations. I'm not vulnerable so not had any since the initial roll out.
If it means anything I'm mid 40s, but very fit (run 10+ miles most Sundays and do bootcamps midweek amongst other shorter runs)

twopercent · 05/08/2024 21:43

Recently, a couple of weeks. I didn't feel too bad, I slept through most of it. Couldn't get out of bed much though, too weak and coughing

CantGetNoSleeeeeeep · 05/08/2024 21:46

I am just coming out of it. Tested positive last Wednesday but was poorly Tuesday night. Tested negative yesterday. 3rd time having it and worst experience this time around. Still feeling utterly drained and so emotional. Headaches on and off.
hoping I’ll be on the up this week.
feel better soon

8 days last month. It was horrible. Hope it's quicker for you

Ineedaholidayyyy · 14/08/2024 22:05

I've tested positive for covid twice and I didn't feel ill either time. All I had was tiredness that lasted for 24 hours and a slight tickle of the throat. Had far worse colds! My mum and sister on the other hand were very poorly, we all tested positive at the same time. Hopefully you feel better soon.

Sierra259 · 14/08/2024 22:06

I tested positive last Saturday - felt awful Saturday and Sunday and daily improvement since but still definitely not 100%. Just feel tired and washed out now.
Have definitely felt worse than the first time I had it.

hopeful2025 · 14/08/2024 22:07

I had it a few weeks ago. Day 4 was the worst for me this time and that was when i tested. I think I felt dodgy for 5 or 6 days in total but it wasn't much more than cold symptoms and feeling v tired. Only my 2nd time with covid. Hope it passes quickly for you.

mitogoshi · 14/08/2024 22:07

First time 2 hours of me whinging that i didn't feel quite right, slight temperature but went with ibroprofen, lost taste and smell for a week. Subsequently I only know I've had it from test strips, no symptoms

mitogoshi · 14/08/2024 22:08

I'm lucky

Dressinggowntime · 14/08/2024 22:14

A good 6 weeks when I got it in June. It was awful

Butwhybecause · 14/08/2024 22:15

The first time weeks (but we didn't know it was Covid then), the second time not as long but felt really ill for about 4 or 5 days, now I'm just getting over it again. I felt ill for a couple of days this time and it's been a fortnight now, tested negative on Saturday and I still feel tired with an irritating cough.

Hope you feel better soon. Getting some sun and Vitamin D should help.

Candleabra · 14/08/2024 22:17

Recently, about a week. Properly “in bed” ill for about 4 days.

HeddaGarbled · 14/08/2024 22:21

Three days: one - flu sort of level, spent the day in bed; two - more like a cold, up and about but feeling tired and unwell.

papadontpreach2me · 14/08/2024 22:31

The first time I had it I slept a lot like the flu for about 8 days, the second time I had it I felt ok but stuffy like the cold for a week and the 3rd time I had it I slept a lot for 48 hours then felt ok but stuffy.

I tested positive all 3 times but only had a slight cough, no fever and a bit of a sore throat like you get when a cold is starting.

colouringindoors · 10/09/2024 20:21

Anyone else? I'm on Day 5 though this is the first day I've been able to rest. Feel dreadful.

Jifmicroliquid · 10/09/2024 20:31

I started to pick up properly on day 12. By day 16 I felt pretty much normal.
Another thing I forgot I did when I had covid was reverse my car into my other car on the drive two days running. I am a really careful driver who has no problem reversing into tight spaces, but oddly my spacial awareness just went to pieces 🤣🙈

Coming up to 5 years in Dec. Friend brought it back from China. It caused aneurisms one of which haemorrhaged and led to years of physio meds, hospital stays, inc icu, a couple of rare autoimmune conditions, chemo and I'm just about to finish oral chemo...
