I didn't even know people were still testing for COVID unless a specific reason. No idea what the guidelines are now I suggest Google.

HughesB · 23/07/2023 18:53

@Ollifer yah I just knew something was off and I bought a test I’ll check google thanks

Current guidelines are to stay at home for 3 days, unless it's essential to do otherwise.

If you have to go out, practice distancing and wear a mask

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 23/07/2023 18:58

Current guidelines as nether said, but no law.

Ollifer · 23/07/2023 20:01

I didn't realise there was guidance to still isolate at all so I've learnt something there ! Hope u feel better soon op

Mumtothreegirlies · 23/07/2023 20:03

Carey on as normal I would think or rest up if you feel ill. Pretty sure it’s being treated like any other virus.

TwilightSkies · 23/07/2023 20:04

Just try not to infect people, if at all possible. Isolate if you can. Most people don’t seem to give a damn anymore but Covid can make people have long-term problems, especially those who already have weaker immune systems.

loulouljh · 23/07/2023 20:06

It is a virus. Like other viruses. If ill stay at home. If not crack on. Simple.

Eve · 23/07/2023 20:09

Hope you feel better soon - I have it as well, though coming out the other side after a few grim days!

(had a few old tests left which I used to test with)

HughesB · 23/07/2023 20:46

Thanks all in bed 🛌

Hope you feel better soon OP.
Re: testing - some 'ordinary' people are still testing - thank you. Obviously if meeting someone 'important', tests are still very much required (as some lives matter more and those in power think it's them unsurprisingly).

ABugWife · 23/07/2023 22:49

Pretty sure I have it too, started feeling Ill Friday and have been so ill, sore throat, burning ears, terrible headache.

Isolated all weekend by default as I have been in bed!

Yellowdays · 23/07/2023 22:54

It's 5 days which is suggested (not mandatory) for adults. I've come across a few people who had it and got well again in 4-5 days, but pretty unwell for the first 3-4. I hope you recover quickly.

Vintagecreamandcottagepie · 23/07/2023 22:58

There's alot about at the moment.

My mum is at death's door with it, but then she hasn't been jabbed.

Wishfulthinking1977 · 23/07/2023 23:04

Not being goady but where do you get tests from anymore? Just out of curiousity as where I am nowhere stocks them anymore! Not even the pharmacys! We personally don't test, just stay away from vunerable people when Ill as always, but I am wondering where you know get tests from? Due to a friend who likes to have some in stock! Thanks x

HughesB · 24/07/2023 06:11

@Wishfulthinking1977 boots pharmacy have them not a whole lot though

OP posts:
noglow · 24/07/2023 06:13

You can get them in most supermarkets

Enko · 24/07/2023 06:18

Hope you feel better soon op. I had it earlier in the month still got the hacking cough. I was sick for 3 days temperature and a piercing headache and oh so tired.

Milder that last year when I had it.

throwbacko2 · 24/07/2023 06:43

The Covid test is a red herring here.

You say you were feeling 'so unwell' which means you should stay home and rest up with plenty fluids. You don't need a Covid test to tell you that!

Layzees · 01/08/2023 12:05

Hate the flippant 'who's still testing'. Use your head; people in the nhs, people with relatives that may be extremely ill.

Get well soon op.

and others who will modify their behaviour whilst contagious.

wondersun · 02/08/2023 00:04

I still test. And everyone who goes near Biden has to test... strange for “just a cold” no???

10% chance of long covid on each infection.

I think a lot of people still test, more should. People have lost interest but reducing your infections and those you pass on is still very much worth it.

Amazon have flowflex for about 80p each.

Handsoffmyrights · 02/08/2023 00:16

Boots has reported an increase in test sales this month over last month - the story is in the news today. I know a few people who seem to have caught it at gigs/festivals lately.

Vintagecreamandcottagepie · 02/08/2023 10:02

Our family has just come down with it (3 out of 5 so far)

My mum, living in a different part of the country has it too. It has made her very ill indeed, but then she's elderly and won't have her jab.
