Air filtration to reduce covid in govt

Hopefullyupwards · 23/01/2023 10:15

It's recently emerged that some government areas e.g. www.purifiedair.com/case-studies/ministry-of-defence/ have had measures in place to reduce the spread of covid. This is obviously a good thing, but why the apparent reluctance to address elsewhere?

Couldn’t give a hoot either way.

Do you really?

Hopefullyupwards · 23/01/2023 10:45

Well, clearly I do, otherwise I wouldn't have posted! To be fair wouldn't have commented on something I'm not interested in either, but each to their own.

I am interested

but you do t seem very clear on what you’re intolerant to

So I wouldn’t feel comfortable giving you a translation of doesnt “catch all”

Ursula82 · 23/01/2023 10:47

Oh sorry wrong thread!

Ursula82 · 23/01/2023 10:48

But my first post was meant for this thread!

and I love covid threads where I sense the OP is frothing! 😂

Hopefullyupwards · 23/01/2023 10:56

Random!

Random!

Indeed.

it would seem I’m not alone in not giving a hoot about the issue per se 😂

noblegiraffe · 23/01/2023 11:09

Because they demonstrably only give a shit about themselves.

VegetablesFightingToReclaimTheAubergieneEmoji · 23/01/2023 11:11

Whilst as employers they have a duty of care to their employees and I am pleased they are taking steps to prevent the spread of any illness, it also helps prevent absences. All a good thing.

where are the filters the schools were promised?

megletthesecond · 23/01/2023 11:13

Because they don't care about NHS and school staff getting ill.

Ursula82 · 23/01/2023 11:13

I am very much hoping the money is going to much much better use

and they never promised them!

Oh don’t be daft

If you look at that website for more case studies it has NHS on there.

There’s loads of others from same company, they’ve obviously built business off the back of Covid

Good on them but I’ve no need for purifiers when considering cost

Reducingbills · 23/01/2023 11:17

Schools and the NHS would be great places to put air filters. I would love the opportunity to avoid this shitty disease - that has ravaged my body - quite so easily again.

I’m glad they’ve got them in government buildings. Reduces sickness rates etc. But seeing as they’ve not got them elsewhere - looks bad doesn’t it!

Hopefullyupwards · 23/01/2023 11:19

Love your username! Weren't the school thresholds set really high (twice as high as standard in USA or something)? I believe a handful of schools did get some filters. It would help reduce absence, that's for sure. When do you think we might start to address air quality in UK? We will probably have to do it at some point, but would be good to do it sooner and minimise damage, than pay the same later after lots of damage.

Care homes are the only places these air filters MIGHT have made a difference for Covid harms. Waste of money elsewhere.

tommika · 23/01/2023 20:07

All Ministry of Defence bases nationwide, including training and reception rooms, now have our VIU Mobile air purifiers in-situ removing harmful particulates from the air whilst irradiating airborne viruses, including COVID-19.

That’s quite a statement.
All MoD bases nationwide? That’s a lot of sites, and a lot more buildings.

The MoD is vast and has a lot of bases/sites. Large garrisons, airfields, naval stations, reserve centres, cadet huts, recruiting offices - let alone training camps ….. then offices, workshops, accommodation, …..

I’d believe it a bit more if they said that ‘All air conditioning systems in MoD bases’.
Or by bases could it be the major garrisons?

You haven’t seen school absence figures recently then.

If it stopped so many bugs being passed around in schools that would have a big impact. Attendance rates at the start of Dec 22 were lower than the start of Dec 21 when omicron was just kicking off.

lljkk · 23/01/2023 20:10

Wait a minute, DS is Officer in Army. I'm asking.

lljkk · 23/01/2023 20:14

They can't afford all sorts of other things but they can afford those pricey air purifiers? I don't believe it.

Hopefullyupwards · 23/01/2023 21:37

@noblegiraffe -also help for things like asthma and improving concentration.

Do you have evidence for that?

In the meantime, if MoD is "wasting money" to protect their employees.

HM government's action would be move along now, nothing to see here for any thinking this could be applied too schools.

VegetablesFightingToReclaimTheAubergieneEmoji · 24/01/2023 07:48

Surely they don’t just help against covid. Things like that horrid cold /flu doing the rounds

piedbeauty · 24/01/2023 13:21

noblegiraffe · 23/01/2023 11:09

This.

Hopefullyupwards · 24/01/2023 20:09

There is a whiff of that, yes. At what point do you think they will address air quality elsewhere though? Less illness around would be great.
