Did anyone not feel too unwell?

I tested positive yesterday and do have some symptoms - I keep sweating, have a runny nose and an endless cough.

but I actually feel ok. Am I likely to get worse though? I’m quite lucky in that I can WFH and have shopping delivered but I just feel like it should be worse than this. I’m not complaining obviously but I’m worried that I’m about to take a turn for the worse.

I am not NT and also have ocd and health anxiety so please be kind!

Thanks for any replies.

I tested positive for the 1st time on Monday. Had a scratchy throat and cough which made me test.
Sore throat has now gone & still have the cough, plus a cold which I am really struggling sleeping with.
I've been working as don't feel horrendous but need to take more care thinking about things as I do feel a bit brain foggy.
Just tested again and the T line came up blinging straight away 🤣
Smell, taste and appetite have not been effected, which is a shame as I go on holiday in 11 days so could have done with a weight loss boost!

I tested positive on Tuesday, felt fine ,only had 1 day where I felt really unwell, my 1 year old son had a positive test as well ,he's coped with it really well ,just having extra naps during the day, I'm getting fed up not being able to get out lol

TheoSawUs · 12/08/2022 14:55

Both times I had it, I felt under the weather for 2-3 days and needed an afternoon nap but bounced back quickly (unlike flu which I had as a fit and healthy 27 year old and which knocked me for six and took me over six weeks to recover from).

Having said that, I am aware that all covid strains are different and someone who reacts mildly to one strain can be badly hit by another strain.

One other thing to mention is that the second time I had it, I rested as much as I possibly could with two (admittedly older) children (who also had covid) - we watched a lot of TV and I didn’t cook etc.

WanderingFruitWonderer · 13/08/2022 11:48

I had Covid about a month ago. It was not too bad at all. Fatigue and headache for two days, then nausea for a bit on days 3 and 4 , weird numbness/heaviness in arms for a few days. But after that I was fine. None of it was that bad at any point, and I was able to do jobs round my flat etc. I didn't have any respiratory symptoms or sore throat. No significant after effects. I'm unvaccinated due to veganism and medical anxiety. But I was dosed up with vitamin D, zinc, NAC and other stuff which helped. I think the fact I spent most of the summer outdoors and so my vitamin D levels were high helped hugely. Hope you're doing well OP

I had covid just after Christmas, I was also 31 weeks pregnant, and I didn't feel too bad at all! It was more like a head cold and sore throat for me. That was with all jabs up to date.

My 2yo was the worst of us, she had a fever and was throwing up as a result but hers also ran through the quickest and she was back to normal 2 days later.

I'm just getting over a summer cold now and I absolutely felt at least 5 times worse than when I had covid!

Rupertgrintismyguiltypleasure · 14/08/2022 08:58

I had basically a cold for 4 days and one day I felt freezing despite it being 25 degrees outside. That was it...

pointythings · 15/08/2022 18:29

We've all just had it - second time around for DD2 who was just a bit grotty for a couple of days. DS also had it mildly, his partner who is part of our household was pretty ill with it, on a par with a bad bout of flu. I had a temperature and the shivers for the first day, headache for a couple of days, after that just cough and congestion so more like a bad cold. We're all vaxed though.

looeeea · 15/08/2022 18:33

I had it from the day I gave birth to the week later and I thought I had just a sniffle - slight chesty cough after (NOT fun post c section) but I think that might have been made worse from gas and air

NuttyNutNut · 16/08/2022 13:29

Me, I wasn't particularly unwell (unvaccinated). In fact none of us were in our household and 1 person is extremely clinically vulnerable (fully vaccinated) and another has type 1 diabetes (1 vaccination). The worst thing for me was the niggling worry I was about to get very, very unwell fuelled by all the media horror stories.

I had a mild illness followed by 2 days of sinus headaches even though I didn't have any cold symptoms which was weird.

Younger 2 children was just like the usual cold type thing that goes round (unvaccinated).

If covid hadn't been a thing I would have just thought we had a weird cold type thing that left you feeling a bit tired afterwards.

My parents had it too a bit after (both late 70's and fully vaccinated) My dad had no symptoms and my mum was in bed for a day or 2 and sounded rough, but a week later they were out hiking again which I thought was a bit insane tbh!!

I feel awful. My throat is so sore, I can barely eat or sleep, my nose is bunged up and I get exhausted walking up the stairs.

If I hear one more time that it's just like a cold, I'm going to cry.

My husband on the other hand feels really fine. He had a slight fever one day and a little bit of a sore throat, but he feels fine.

It just seems to depend on the person.

Like a cold then?

EBearhug · 17/08/2022 11:45

I've had worse colds, and for most of the 11 days I tested positive, I had no symptoms at all. The person I almost definitely caught it from couldn't get out of bed for three days.

But I often don't get things badly - had glandular fever far more mildly than friends who had it at the same time, and often skipped bugs going round the office.

That's not necessarily of any help to anyone else, though.

Toddlerteaplease · 17/08/2022 12:01

I had it in 2020 pre vaccine. Felt a bit rough, mild headache and a bit breathless at times. But had I not had to isolate, I doubt I'd have missed work. Actually worked two days Before discovering I was positive. Regular testing wasn't a thing then.

Marmunia1066 · 30/08/2022 15:18

I had a headache for three days, then was positive in the morning and positive in the afternoon. That's with no vaccines though. Didn't even cough or sneeze once.

shivawn · 30/08/2022 15:28

I had a slightly sore throat that lasted less than 2 hours.

My husband and son both had covid at the time so I was on the lookout for symptoms, otherwise I wouldn't have known I had it.

pinklavenders · 31/08/2022 12:38

I've definitely had worse colds/flu!

Got Covid for the first time this summer and felt 'cold' like with strong sore throat for 3 days, then back to normal within a week. Back to exercising the following week.

I feel relieved that my body managed it do well.

WanderingFruitWonderer · 31/08/2022 12:55

I tested positive for the first time six weeks ago. It was fine. Mild headache and fatigue for two days, followed by mild nausea for two days, and then totally back to normal! It surprised me how easy it was. I've had throat infections and tummy bugs far worse in the past.
Get well soon ❤️

WanderingFruitWonderer · 31/08/2022 20:56

Oh silly me, I just realised I posted on this thread twice! I didn't realise it was a couple of weeks old. Hope you had a mild case OP.

bluetongue · 31/08/2022 21:32

I did feel pretty rubbish for a few days. It was more bad cold / mild flu level than stuck in bed sick. Had a fever and sore throat but have had worse viruses before.

PooWeeBum · 31/08/2022 21:35

The two people I last know who had covid was absolutely fine, fully vaccinated though not sure if you are? this was during the wave in feb, one developed a chest infection and the other a kidney infection the week after.

bith really dehydrated so keep your fluids up even if you feel well x

OliveTree75 · 01/09/2022 08:02

I’ve had it twice. Neither time was anything to write home about. I had it first time before vaccines and just had a runny nose. Second time after 3 vaccines and actually felt worse than the first time but still not much - felt nauseous, lack of appetite and like I had a cold.
