Did anyone not feel too unwell?

I tested positive yesterday and do have some symptoms - I keep sweating, have a runny nose and an endless cough.

but I actually feel ok. Am I likely to get worse though? I’m quite lucky in that I can WFH and have shopping delivered but I just feel like it should be worse than this. I’m not complaining obviously but I’m worried that I’m about to take a turn for the worse.

I am not NT and also have ocd and health anxiety so please be kind!

Thanks for any replies.

Hiya mine started Wednesday and I honestly thought it was a cold.
I did have a temperature and that's why I tested
I feel better today but still showing positive
I think this variant is more cold like

BlackShadowCat · 07/08/2022 12:04

I feel awful. My throat is so sore, I can barely eat or sleep, my nose is bunged up and I get exhausted walking up the stairs.

If I hear one more time that it's just like a cold, I'm going to cry.

My husband on the other hand feels really fine. He had a slight fever one day and a little bit of a sore throat, but he feels fine.

It just seems to depend on the person.

SpaceJamtart · 07/08/2022 12:33

It will likely be alright if you have started off feeling okay.
I had a mild runny nose and a bit if a headache for an day and then it was gone, retested for work and I was still getting positives for 9 days despite feeling fine the whole time. Lots of my friends were the same

FourChimneys · 07/08/2022 12:36

I am CEV and part of a system to administer antivirals quickly if necessary.

I only knew I had it due to a routine test. Blew my nose a few times but otherwise no symptoms at all.

Hope you are OK OP.

polkadotpixie · 07/08/2022 12:38

I've had it twice and was fine both times, no worse than a cold. I'm late 30's, triple vaxxed and have no underlying health issues although I am a bit overweight (BMI 27)

Mybeautifulfriend22 · 07/08/2022 12:45

I felt worse than a heavy cold but less than flu. Everything hit within three days temp/rigours/cough/sore throat/the body aches were awful and from day 4 quickly improved but kept randomly appearing for a few hours on random days but I felt much better and wasn’t bed ridden at all. I could cook/ mooch about the house doing easy jobs.

My partner had it first and we followed very similar patterns. Had a bit of sinus aches and nausea the first week day5/6 but I’ve had no crazy fatigue. I was tired for a couple of weeks but rested loads and could return to work for a negative test on day 11.

i work on a ward and it’s very mixed some are on their 2/3rd infection. It was my first. Some were sicker for longer with awful fatigue afterwards. Some just had mild sniffles. It affects everyone differently. This variant isn’t just a cold for many.

x2boys · 07/08/2022 13:39

I had it about four weeks ago I did feel rough ,but was able sort the kids out make meals etc , my symptoms only lasted 3/4 days ,fingers crossed this is as bad as it gets for you .

fluffiphlox · 07/08/2022 13:42

I’m in my sixties and had it a couple of times ago. My experience was that it was not, by quite a long way, the worst bug I’ve ever had. Fine now I think. Back at the gym etc. I have no health issues generally so to me it was like a slightly tiring cold.

fluffiphlox · 07/08/2022 13:43

Couple of WEEKS ago. I wish you could edit.

MrsAliceRichards · 07/08/2022 13:43

I only knew I had it as dh was very sick with it and I sneezed a few times one evening before bed and did a test. I woke up the following morning absolutely fine.... if dh hadn't had it I'd have never tested and taken an antihistamine thinking it was a bit of a Hayfever flare up. The weirdest thing is I'm asthmatic and both times I've had it I wasn't sick with it although I did have a temp the first time that made me feel a bit rough for 48 hours but that was my only symptom....I wasn't worried about covid as such but assumed I'd be hit the worst out of us. Dh who is never sick was almost hospitalised twice. The kids were both like me.

Atmorning · 07/08/2022 13:53

Had it not been covid, I could have taken a couple of paracetamol in the morning and gone to work with how I felt all through it. My oh felt fine other than his head felt too heavy for his neck for a few days (🤔) . My children were completely fine and we wouldn't have known at all were it not for tests.

My 86 year old dad has just had it for the second time and he was out bowling as soon as he was fit to, on day 5 or 6. He napped and read in bed through the 'worst' days but was still fit to be larking about at the window and shouting to us when we dropped off shopping.

I've just had the cold and I felt doubly worse than I ever did with covid. Good Luck, likely ull be absolutely fine!

NotMyDust · 07/08/2022 13:55

I tested pos 4 days ago and today is the first day I ventured out for a distanced dog walk with dh (also positive). I felt shite for the first 3 days. You may take a turn for the worse,y manager at work did. I took paracetamol and alternated with ibuprofen if needed.

For me it's somewhere betwern not the worst flu and a bad cold.

gogohmm · 07/08/2022 14:07

Didn't feel unwell at all. Only know I had it due to a test. Wasn't unwell the first time either (March 2020)

Florelei · 07/08/2022 15:49

Thanks for your replies - most of them are reassuring.

to those who are unwell - I hope you feel better soon!

I felt grotty for the first day, but could still do everything as usual. Got better as the days went on. No fatigue, and didn't lose my taste or smell. Had a bit of a cough for about a week after.
I only tested as I was going hot and cold one evening, otherwise I would have just assumed it was a mild and short lived cold.
Am obese, early 40s and unvaccinated.

Florelei · 09/08/2022 19:37

Well I feel a little bit worse than I did but still tolerable.

my sense of taste and smell has gone and every time I try to do anything like get a shower or Hoover I break out in a sweat and have to have a lie down! 😂

It can be so different from person to person but for some people it genuinely is extremely mild, for others really horrible, for lots somewhere in between. A very strange virus!

I look after CEV people - one lady who is so high risk on multiple fronts (downs, chronic heart failure, chronic lung and kidney disease) (and adored by so we were all utterly terrified of inadvertently bringing the virus to her despite every precaution and her dying) finally caught it (almost certainly from her 80 year old father who tested positive the day after taking her out for the day)
and only had a runny nose for five days then was completely fine, no cough, no fever, no long term problems!

My whole family had it and three were fine - from a mild cold for me and DD to to a heavy cold type thing for ds1, but DH was ill for three days with really high fevers and weirdly ds2 had symptoms more like norovirus but at the same time as DH and tested positive for covid!

Basically it really could be very mild but people who have it badly are telling the truth too - the same strain can be totally different from individual to individual.

We're all 3x vaccinated and had it in a domino effect chain so I assume it was the same variant that was different for all of us.

Festivalpartygirl · 09/08/2022 19:54

I just felt off for day 1 and 2, I tested as DH was feeling poorly, thought I’d got off lightly, then day 3 felt proper poorly, very shivery, razor blade throat, aches and skin hurt, unable to get warm (in this heat) continued through day 4 & 5, now day 6 (today) I just have like a summer head cold/heavy chest & coughing but feel like I’m on the mend. However I am conscious not to overdo, as getting worn out / tired very quickly. This is first Covid for me, and I do not want again anytime soon.

LovinglifeAF · 11/08/2022 00:22

I only felt slightly unwell, if I hadn’t tested and known it was normal I’d have cracked on as normal. No temperature and not much cough, only when I had a sore throat and spoke too much. It was more like a mild cold until I lost taste and smell for a few days.

Raera · 11/08/2022 00:27

My grandson was positive and so I did a test. Yes a positive but no symptoms whatsoever

mrsfollowill · 11/08/2022 00:43

I had it in April 2022 and only felt really shite for 1 day (high temp/headache/shivering so slept that day away). Was the tiredness for the next 2 weeks that was awful.
I'm lucky as I have a very flexible job I work from home -my boss was ace and I worked reduced hours/napped after lunch for a couple of weeks then made the time up once I was feeling better.
It's weird how the same illness affects people so differently - DH is CEV and we thought it was inevitable he would get it as he sleeps right next to me every night. Didn't change any of our habits but him and adult DS tested negative the whole time- both did LTF tests every day for 10 days before going out to work.

Justdancinginthedark · 11/08/2022 01:30

I had it 3 weeks ago. My only symptom was a blocked up nose that bled when I blew it. No temperature or anything else. I showed positive for the full 10 days.

I'm the same and felt a bit 'off' on day 4 &5. Had a runny nose. Tested positive for 9 days.

What I didn't expect was the three weeks of fatigue and brain fog afterwards considering I hadn't had any proper symptoms during my testing positive.

LT2 · 11/08/2022 09:46

I didn't feel unwell either time (had covid twice - last time was a few weeks ago). Unvaccinated. Mainly just felt like a had a very minor cold.

ClinkeyMonkey · 11/08/2022 10:16

Mine really was no more than a mild inconvenience for a few days - headache, runny nose, slightly sore throat, bit of a cough. Nothing like, for example, the flu I had in 2018. DS1 had it worst of all of us. He had Delta (last November) and the rest of us had Omicron more recently. It definitely varies from person to person though. Plenty of people with Omicron have been very unwell.
