It’s making me nervous now because I feel like I still don’t know how my body would cope with it

Maybe you’ve had it but no symptoms? Dh reckons he’s not had it which I find unlikely because I’ve had it and we carried on sharing a bed. Dd had it and lives with us. Everyone he works with has had it. Or maybe some people have natural immunity?

Hardtofindafreename · 04/07/2022 09:59

Neither me nor my dh has it that we know of. Virtually everyone else I know has had it

NoEffingWay · 04/07/2022 10:00

Nope, not me, DP or DS. All worked or went to school throughout and not a peep.

I don't understand how or why.

LovelaceBiggWither · 04/07/2022 10:01

Our household hasn't had it, my parents who live in a retirement village where it went through like wildfire haven't had it. Makes little to no sense to all of us as we have definitely all been exposed.

SirChenjins · 04/07/2022 10:03

Me neither. I test regularly for work so no I haven’t had it. I’ve worked beside people who have it, have been in contact with friends who had it, have been to crowded venues and it’s been in our home three times. It’s obviously just a matter of time before I catch it, but it is a bit weird.

SirChenjins · 04/07/2022 10:03

*know

Extratoebeans · 04/07/2022 10:03

I was the same as you until Thursday when it finally caught up with me and has worked its way through the rest of the house who also hadn't had it. Im annoyed in a way, because a few months ago 2 of my daughters had it within a few weeks of each other and had hardly any symtoms but none of us caught it. This variant is nasty in comparison and we have all been so poorly.

FlipFlops4Me · 04/07/2022 10:08

I've not had it, nor as DH. Mind you I'm CEV and was more or less stuck within these four walls for a long time. SInce Covid DH had a stroke and now I'm a 24/7 carer - we still don't go anywhere. Our only visitors tend to be family who are all extremely careful as they know how vulnerable we are.

I can't afford to get ill - if I can't look after DH he'd have to go into care, and that would be terrible for him - it takes a lot of loving care to keep him calm, not frightened and keep up his ability to talk.

HerculesMulligan · 04/07/2022 10:09

I hadn't had it until 10 days ago - my husband's CEV so we've been extremely careful. I still don't know how I got it.

BotCrossHuns · 04/07/2022 10:11

I'd not had it, until last week. This current variant seems to be getting a lot of people who've managed to miss out on the earlier ones!

I had 3-4 days or so of feeling ill, and a few after that of feeling a bit less well than usual, but really not bad overall compared to how I thought I might feel. I'm triple jabbed but booster was last November, so it's been a while.

Phos · 04/07/2022 10:11

Not that I am aware of.

My DH had it in January (not particularly poorly, just a bit tired and really snotty) and despite sharing a bed with him, I didn't get it and neither did our daughter who was around him the whole time too.

I might have had it asymptomatically as I've never routinely tested.

Covidosaurus · 04/07/2022 10:18

Two days ago I would have said Yes, I haven’t had it! Now I’m snuffling and coughing in bed and feel like sh*t.

Hadn’t been feeling well for a few days, but didn’t connect it with Covid because it felt like a heart problem, which I’ve had for ages and is usually well controlled by drugs. Not urgent, so booked an appointment for next week. Did a test on Saturday, just in case, and the two red lines sprang up before I’d even switched the 15-minute timer on!

DH and I have had all the jabs except the latest booster, which we haven’t been offered yet. The rollout seems so slow, it’ll probably be out of date before most of us receive it.

Research is being done on exactly why some people in a household with covid, don’t catch it, and there is evidence to believe some people have natural immunity.
I haven’t got Covid yet, but feel that it’s inevitable when numbers are rising so much. Actually thinking about masking up again when out shopping now.

Interesting. My DP had it and then a few months later my DC caught it. I’ve also been sat at a kitchen table with my In laws who had it and I never caught it myself. So I have been exposed to it a few times

I didn't until I this week, when dh and dc1 had it bad last year me and dc2 were fine. Now dc2 and a few of their friend group have it and I caught it off them.I really did think I was immune to it, it has wiped us out, we are cev and have been shielded for so long.

Hugasauras · 04/07/2022 10:44

We haven't yet, although I wouldn't be surprised if one of the bugs we had over winter was Covid. Not sure how we've managed to avoid it with a DC is nursery, my DH works in schools and I've been to nights out, some big events, etc. Confused We've dodged several nursery outbreaks and being a close contact a couple of times

Fuzzy303 · 04/07/2022 10:50

nope, we still haven't had it, also know a fair amount of people that haven't had it

stormelf · 04/07/2022 10:51

DD and DH have had it twice, DS and I haven't had it (tested daily when they had it). We all came back from a huge family holiday, in separate holiday accommodation but with regular socialising, where everyone apart from me, DH and the children caught COVID and rested positive on day of return

Purplecatshopaholic · 04/07/2022 10:54

I was like this. Successfully avoided it despite numerous others close to me getting it. Tested positive this weekend and it’s bloody awful!

hagelslaagfiend · 04/07/2022 10:54

None in our house to our knowledge although I think maybe I had it early on. DD may have had it last December, recovered quickly if so. We've all been exposed apart from DH who rarely goes anywhere. Our time will come I'm sure. Most people I know who previously escaped seem to be getting it now.

vodkaredbullgirl · 04/07/2022 11:00

Still not had it, have to test twice a week for work. Everyone at work has had it, I'm the only one who hasn't

Moonlightdust · 04/07/2022 11:05

My son has just caught it for the first time despite being exposed to it twice with other family members in the house having it on separate occasions. Bizarrely I am hearing of many people I know getting it in this latest wave for the first time - it’s like the ones who have escaped it so far are now being flushed out!

LavenderfortheBees · 04/07/2022 11:10

Same until last week when I got it for the first time. I know a few people that managed to escape until they got it last month. Weird. It just felt like a cold though.

jusdepamplemousse · 04/07/2022 11:12

Not had it yet, only one in our house of five has as far as we know (asymptomatic). We’ve had lots of other horrible stomach bugs and colds in the same time period though, particularly in the past couple months, it’s brutal what the lockdowns did to kids’ immunity generally.

Redcrayons · 04/07/2022 11:13

Don’t think so, although I haven’t been testing regularly since April. Probably just once a month when I had to go into the office.
