Going on a short break next week but tested positive this morning

We are due to go away next week, dd2 tested positive Friday, I got symptoms Sunday evening but didn’t test positive until this morning. Dd2 still testing positive but should be fine by the end of the week (she feels fine but still has slight cough), I feel a bit rough, persistent cough and body aches but no other symptoms. Should we still go next week? We are due to go Tuesday for 2 nights, premier inn type place. Would you still go if testing positive?

Also my other dd so far seems to be negative so there’s a chance she could come down with it, at the moment she’s staying out the way in hope not to get it, if she does come down with it we could leave her at home (she’s 18). I don’t think I would get my money back if I cancel.

No one is supposed to be testing that’s the whole point!!!!

Why can’t people grasp policy?

Testing is no longer advised

You try to stay at home if unwell

Go out if well

That’s the advice- not to be obsessed looking at covid tests.

These comments are the reason CEV people (like me) are still stuck at home 2 years on!

worriedatthistime · 13/04/2022 10:44

@Watapalava I think you have said this several times but my ds has been told to test twice a week by work and provided with tests - not nhs but his companies choice
I Had to take a test as going to drs as i had symptoms
Nhs / care staff have to regularly check
Its say there are no free tests thats all
Plenty of people whilst they have test will test as they will want to know
I have covid now my symptoms are gone day 5 but i still am testing positive so I could go out as not ill and spread it a little further
My dh tested as he goes in peoples houses as part of his job, would you want him coming into yours with covid

worriedatthistime · 13/04/2022 10:45

@Watapalava a lot of jobs still require testing

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 13/04/2022 10:48

@MrsSkylerWhite

We wouldn’t go until we’d all tested negative.
That could be 90 days !

Yes OP, I would especially as you would count Sunday as your first day as that's when symptoms started.

Topseyt · 13/04/2022 10:50

If you feel well then go. If not then don't. That would be my approach. Not all this obsessive testing, which I have never been into anyway.

All this bullshit has to stop at some point.

Oh go to fuck with your shitty comments! Not everyone has the privilege of being safe going out.

With my most recent bout of covid I tested positive for three weeks. Last summer when we had it, DH was still testing positive almost two months later. Clearly we weren't still infectious and no way would we have cancelled all plans until we got a negative test.

I'm CEV and don't have the 'privilege of being safe going out', but I agree that life can't be put on hold indefinitely to protect me. People have sacrificed enough already.

I don’t understand Are you saying that ok to go out with a positive or not?
finished31 · 13/04/2022 15:59

@Heythere13

No, it's not okay if you knowingly have Covid.

I was quoting another poster words and bold failed stupid mobile

TabithaTittlemouse · 13/04/2022 16:19

We are swamped with holiday makers this week which is nice but if people come and covid spreads and we catch it then we take it on our holiday next week elsewhere in the U.K. We give it to someone else etc.

Use common sense, if you are unwell stay home.

What’s your thoughts if you are mildly Ill with covid symptoms that could be covid or indeed a load of other illness and not remotely serious enough to otherwise cancel.
But don’t test, as none of us are meant to

So can’t know either way?

finished31 · 13/04/2022 17:40

@Heythere13

If like OP question, should they go away if they have Covid?

Clearly if you've got covid or you're a close family member in OP post and it hasn't hit them yet then no it's unfair to others (obviously negative LFT is fine).

If you have no symptoms and non of your party have had Covid then yes, you go.

Heythere13 · 13/04/2022 17:47

Contradiction “if it hasn’t hit them yet then no it’s unfair”

“Negative lft fine”

But if it hasn’t “hit them yet” the lft would be negative.

finished31 · 13/04/2022 17:53

@Heythere13

I was referring too the child who hadn't yet tested positive:

If the LFT was negative after all this time then go.

No. I won't stop saying this. I am in the clinically vulnerable category too but have no wish to continue with Covid restrictions.
Feelingoktoday · 13/04/2022 23:57

If you bother to test then you should follow the rules. Do we test for flu? Would you go if you had the flu?

millytint44 · 14/04/2022 00:02

It's a cold!!!!

HeArInGhandsgirl11 · 14/04/2022 09:41

We have tested positive and should be away this weekend. We decided not to go, I couldn't cope with the fact I might infect someone vulnerable.

Legally you can still go and I doubt you will be positive next week.

Sorry you had to cancel your trip. I’m still pretty unwell, for those that say “it’s just a cold”…I have never had a cold like this. I’m on day 4 with hardly any sleep due to constantly coughing, the only time I have had a cough this bad was when I had whooping cough as a child. I have pulled every muscle in my chest and stomach from coughing. I wouldn’t want to pass it on to anyone. By the time I go away Tuesday I should be negative and on day 9/10 so I am hoping I will be fully recovered.

@Heythere13 i keep seeing this none of us are meant to test crap , many work places still require it so many if us don't have a choice
Cev people are still supposed to and get free testing as well as some family members so no not everyone can just not opt to test and ignore symptoms and carry on

Are you in England? Pretty sure we're still self-isolating in Scotland.
