None and work for Ambulance Trust. My DD has had it once just recently but been working in a nursery and didn't catch it when all her colleagues got it last year. One colleague was terrified of catching it, he caught it and recovered and then caught it again and sadly died.

Howdiditgetsobad · 04/04/2022 05:39

I’ve had it once for definite in January 2022.

I think very likely we had it back in March 2020 as I spent two days when a colleague who had come back from SE Asia and then tested positive (was when there were fewer than 100 cases).

We’ve been constantly ill this year with other viruses though!

TypicaIMe · 04/04/2022 06:49

Five times - spring 2020, September 2020, August 21, January this year and last week. All confirmed by PCR or LFT apart from spring 20 because it was before testing, but antibody test a few months later said I'd had it and I had all the classic symptoms, as did everyone in the house and everyone we came into contact with.

The first time and the last time were the worst. The most recent bout had me testing positive for three weeks (1st negative last Friday) but ill for over a week before I tested positive, so unwell for over a month altogether (I still have symptoms). I've had it mildly and asymptomatically in the past also.

Quadruple jabbed but immunosuppressed since last summer (ie, since three of my infections).

Lots of people on this thread saying they're sure they had it very early in 2020, before we officially had cases in the UK - it's been confirmed that the first covid death in the UK was in January 2020 and obviously it follows that it would have been circulating before then.

DD went to London to see her girlfriend in late January and within a week of her coming home we all fell ill with this bizarre flu which was nothing like we'd ever had before, including a complete loss of taste and smell but with no snot or blocked up nose, so not like the loss of taste/smell you get when you have a cold. DH was really unwell and had breathing difficulties and so on. As was the way then he battled on and went into work for a week or so before admitting defeat, he was off for two weeks which is not like him at all. He even went to the GP who asked him if he'd been to China lately - he hadn't, but DD's gf had just come back from China after the Christmas uni holidays. GP said it was unlikely to be Covid, gave him antibiotics (which didn't work) and sent him on his way. Meanwhile everyone in his office went down with the same thing.

I had an antibody test in the June which confirmed I'd had it, that was the only time I'd been ill for over a year. So DD would have caught it around 25th January.

Three - once at the very start which was awful snd twice vaccinated. 2nd time was ok but felt pretty unwell from day 7 and the third time I felt ill for an hour. I caught 2/3 on flights as I’ve still flown all through Covid due to travel exemptions/work

LostOrFound · 04/04/2022 08:39

@TypicaIMe- Five! Good grief! Poor you!

AnyFucker · 04/04/2022 16:57

I am convinced my DH had covid in Dec 2019. He had been attending a convention centre with a Chinese contingent. He became ill over Xmas with breathing difficulties, a temperature and fatigue (typical Alpha presentation), needing to take time off work which he never does. It took him about 4 weeks to improve.

SeaGlassBlue · 04/04/2022 16:59

Once.

A colleague in work recently tested positive for the third time.

Northernsoullover · 04/04/2022 17:03

Never. My ex just had his third bout which was 3 months after his second.

I honestly don't want to be That Guy but Alpha was the 'Kent variant' which bugggered up Christmas 2020. What your DH had was likely the original Wuhan strain. Don't you just hate pedantic twats Grin

There were so many cases of an unusual flu type virus in late 2019/Jan and Feb 20, loads of people seemed to have it. If the story I linked to upthread is anything to go by, it was here then for sure.

To be fair I am immunosuppressed so it's not surprising, also DD is a teacher so brings everything home! That said she's only had it twice and had avoided it when it's been in the house, despite no distancing or anything.

Wakemeuuuup · 04/04/2022 17:21

Currently have it for the first time. Feeling yucky but it's definitely mild

JanglyBeads · 04/04/2022 17:27

AnyFucker · 04/04/2022 17:28

@TypicalMe sorry, right you are 👍

Parky04 · 04/04/2022 17:34

No one in our household of 4 has had covid. 3 of us work in retail and have worked throughout!

hiredandsqueak · 06/04/2022 12:04

Ds got home from a lads' holiday in Tenerife Sunday and tested positive yesterday. First person in our family to contract covid. So far all eleven others on the holiday are negative.

DoWhatYouLike · 06/04/2022 12:07

Twice. I had the Delta one last July, was on a ventilator for 2 weeks. Then I contracted it again because although I'd recovered, I was on a Covid ward, with patients being taken in frequently. I caught it from the woman in the next bed, and I was made to isolate for a further 2 weeks

2boysand1princess · 06/04/2022 21:38

Twice confirmed (lateral flows and pcr) and once in 2020 unconfirmed. First time felt so weak and achey. Second 2 times had no symptoms at all

quiteathome · 07/04/2022 11:58

3

boysmuminherts · 07/04/2022 12:01

none. Fingers crossed xx
DH also zero, DS1 once Oct 2021 (asymptomatic), DS2 twice - Dec 2021 (asymptomatic) and March 2022 (2 day cold).

rainbowandglitter · 07/04/2022 12:02

Never!

Allsorts1 · 07/04/2022 12:03

3 times! 1st not confirmed as was pre testing, but crazy cough. Second confirmed between 1st and 2nd vaccine doses - the worst symptoms and was fatigued for months. Third time after 2 doses, very mild and maintained energy.

RosieRoww · 07/04/2022 12:04

Twice- first time I lost the smell and taste for a few days and for the second time, it felt like a mild cold for a first days and then I recovered very quickly.

RuthW · 07/04/2022 12:05

Never. I test twice weekly for work
