@widgeon Thanks for the ideas - I will definitely try a walk in tomorrow, though not many are good for 5-11yo yet. Slightly annoyed 119 didn’t mention this option!

I’m sure the age/GP registration suggestions will help others but in my case ds is 5y5m and has been registered at one place since birth and even booked an appointment with them last week.

OobieDoo · 03/04/2022 08:36

Has anyone else managed to book an appointment for today? I went online yesterday to book for DS (6) and there was one site offering an appointment for today, so I booked it. But this morning I've heard that it's only available for over-5s from tomorrow. Hmm Worried we're going to be turned away! I can't see a way of contacting the vaccination site to check.

@OobieDoo - if the national booking service website let you book for your 5yr old at a particular site, then it should be fine - the official launch is tomorrow but it’s possible for sites to start over the weekend.

@Juzau, hm, that’s odd. Did you definitely use the postcode which is on your DS’s GP records? Eg if you’ve moved house since you registered with the GP and didn’t update them as to your new address, then the system won’t recognise your GP. And did you use the exact name which is on his GP record? Eg if you put “Stan Smith” but the GP record has “Stanley Smith”, or if he’s officially Stanley George Smith (on her GP record) but you always call him
George and you entered that on the vaccine booking website, then it won’t recognise that either.

@allthatIcando

Given the high infection rates in schools, it might be difficult to get kids as long as 90 days without a new infection...
This is exactly what has happened to mine. My dd had it on the 29th Jan. She then tested positive on the 29th March. She got an appointment through for hers and she couldn't take it because it wasnt 12 weeks since her first infection. Now she can't take it because of her 2nd infection! We are in Scotland so it came through in a letter.

There's absolutely zero point vaccinating at this stage. Except to make the drug companies richer.

i think there was an issue with 5yo maybe the programmer didnt set the date range correctly as it was announced so long ago.
I would probably call 119 to tell them its not working.

My dc recently had it but i didnt report it for this reason. If there was an actual issue re having currently or just had covid then we would have to test on the day and theyve now removed testing completely its likely more about supply of vax. As its 4w for those with vulnerable family
