Omicron theory

So we have been chatting to a few people recently and we have noticed that the ones who had a bad reaction to their jabs - haven’t caught covid so far.

And those who had no reaction to jabs have caught it.

Is this your experience too?

Adeleskirts · 26/03/2022 20:31

My husband had no reaction and hasn’t caught it, even when I had it, I had a mild reaction and have caught it. So no I don’t think the theory is correct.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 26/03/2022 20:32

I had a achy arm and caught it twice

user1745 · 26/03/2022 20:34

I think people who previously had Covid might be more likely to have bad side effects from the vaccine, and then of course less likely to get Covid later on.

Papayamya · 26/03/2022 20:34

As so many people have now been jabbed and so many have had covid and there's a huge range of experiences within each of those there will be trends and some correlations, but probably not enough for something to be true across the board. I had a savage reaction to my first jab, the next two were fine and I had covid last month and was really poorly.

Lurking9to5 · 26/03/2022 20:34

Well, my vacc and booster made m3 sicker than qctual omicron which just gave me a headache

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 26/03/2022 20:48

I had a bad reaction to my second jab, and the booster - 3 x Moderna. Currently have covid and feel rotten.

grapehyacinthisactuallyblue · 26/03/2022 20:53

None of my family, including extended family had bad reaction to vaccine. No one has caught covid yet.

Cherryana · 26/03/2022 21:11

So my theory is pants.

At least I won’t embarrass myself by perpetuating it in public!!

Thank you for replying x

I had no reaction at all to any of my jobs but I've been exposed many many times and not tested positive. Even within my own household. Hubby had huge reactions with all his jabs and didn't catch it either (kids have recently had it within the home)

ReadyToMoveIt · 26/03/2022 21:21

I had a really bad reaction to my booster. Bed ridden for a couple of days, high fever, hallucinating.
Caught omicron 3 weeks later.

LoudingVoice · 26/03/2022 21:31

@Hohumfeelingglum

I had no reaction and haven't caught it yet
Same, I was absolutely fine after my jabs and I’ve never had covid.
DogsAndGin · 26/03/2022 21:37

No reaction, no covid

Nomoresmoresthensnores · 26/03/2022 21:44

When I had my second jab at a big centre 2 nurses told me that of the thousands of people theyd seen they'd picked up that those who had a bad reaction to first jab meant they'd already had it and they wouldn't react to 2nd. I didn't react to second. Was very ill with first. Got covid (not tested) badly in first wave. Not had it since. All tests negative.
You are not alone with this theory.
The earlier variant were worse because its mutated now. Stands to reason those who has an early version have stronger immunity. I fully believe this is me. I've worked throughout as a key worker with children in school. I was never so ill as I was in Wave 1 in 2020.
I was at an event where 10 of my close contacts got covid recently. It was 25% of attendees. I remained negative.

SquirrelG · 26/03/2022 21:47

Only one of my friends has had covid, no family members - we are all jabbed.

SquirrelG · 26/03/2022 21:48

Sorry, that was meant to say we are all jabbed and had no reaction!

Username500000000000 · 26/03/2022 22:23

I’ve had Covid twice (very mild) and had a mild allergic reaction to my first jab, then really awful side effects on my second such as migraines, fever, nausea etc.

Pennox · 26/03/2022 22:30

I had a moderately bad reaction to the first covid jab (Az). Arm swelled up massively felt ill for 3/4 days, headache, nausea, pressure behind the eyes. I was advised to take an antihistamine before the second and third. Second AZ with antihistamine minor reaction, third pfizer no side effects. I always gets a swollen, sore arm for a week or so with flu jabs as well.

Got covid for first time 6 weeks ago, omicron of course. I was pretty ill, like full on flu, for a week, then severe fatigue for a few weeks, only just clearing now.

Smidgy · 26/03/2022 22:36

I reacted badly to the jabs and I've just recently got covid. My sister the same.

Interesting. We had suspected Covid March 2020, my husband was quite ill for a month. We've not had it since despite mixing in groups etc, including a super spreader event in a small space where nearly everyone else caught it and we hadn't been boosted yet and DD was only single jabbed. Will probably catch the Omi now I've said that! I do think the early versions were stronger and might give good immunity, but who knows....
thismeansnothing · 27/03/2022 11:29

I had a bad reaction to the first 2 jabs, and only mild with the 3rd.

I tested positive for covid on Friday and feel horrific.

MajesticElephant · 27/03/2022 11:34

I had a bad reaction to all three of my jabs and was in bed for days after with a fever. Currently in hospital with COVID and secondary pneumonia Angry

ffscovid · 27/03/2022 11:55

I've had three doses of Moderna (May, July and booster in Dec). I've not had Covid.

First dose: VERY sore arm for 2-3 days, a bit tired
Second dose: slightly sore arm, felt a bit unwell for a couple of days
Booster: Arm barely hurt but had horrendous flu-like symptoms that started about 12 hrs after the jab and lasted 24 hrs.

SpikyJugs · 27/03/2022 11:58

I think (but this might just be my theory), that if you've previously been exposed to a virus, then your body will mount a stronger response when you receive the vaccine for the same virus. And that response tends to make you feel ill.

So I think that those who had a strong reaction to their jab may have had covid previously? Which means that by the time they've had their jab they have strong immunity.

LynetteScavo · 27/03/2022 15:05

No, it's not my experience- I don't think I'd had Covid before my first vaccination - and felt really rough after my first, but not the second or third. I've had Covid after my second vaccinations DH after my booster. Covid the second time worse than the first for me, so I don't know what that says about my antibodies.

JassyRadlett · 27/03/2022 15:10

Sorry. Bad reaction to first two jabs, fine with third, Covid knocked me flat a month ago.
