Who is Covid positive and leaving house?

DH and I both positive. He feels rough I feel like I’ve got a cold. DS3 not tested but fine and hyper. Out of interest, who is leaving the house still even though positive? I know legally it’s ok, But want to take DS for some fresh air. I wondered who else was doing the same?

No one I know has. It's in our house at the minute and everyone in my social circle has followed the guidelines as if they're still rules.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 13/03/2022 13:13

I would go out for fresh air providing it was at a quiet time and you could easily avoid other people.

LoganberryJam · 13/03/2022 13:13

Meeting people inside or going to crowded places - no.

Taking your DS out for some fresh air and staying away from others - yes I would do this.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 13/03/2022 13:14

I think it’s fine to go for a walk.

Plumbear2 · 13/03/2022 13:19

It hasn't come up yet. My sons school are still telling them to isolate. If I caught it I would only go out for food and medicine (we don't all have someone to get it for us).

AlwaysColdHands · 13/03/2022 13:24

My DD age 8 currently positive. She’s off school obviously but we’re taking her out for walks in quiet places.

Jules912 · 13/03/2022 13:25

I haven't yet but DD is the only one in our house who hasn't come down with it ( and probably won't as she had it in January), so I am wondering if it would really be so bad for me to take her to the childminder who's literally 5minutes walk away.

Rrrob · 13/03/2022 13:27

Dd1 tested positive today. DH tested positive last Sunday (now negative). I took DC to the rugby field across the road to run around this morning but won’t be going to usual baby groups etc.

KatyRebecca84 · 13/03/2022 13:41

General consensus seems it’s ok then! Thanks

We went out for walks at quiet times, yes

bruffin · 13/03/2022 13:46

We've all had it this week. DS was first to go out on Saturday (D's day 10) DH have felt rotten. I'm wfh tomorrow (my day 10). DH off until Tuesday , his day , 10. Dd was with DH all Saturday moving house but didn't get it , may pop over tonight.

Mangogogogo · 13/03/2022 14:23

I did when i had it and it was law. I have no plans to test myself unless this changes again so will probably not know if I have it again. So If I feel well enough yeah, I will be going out

Mindymomo · 13/03/2022 14:26

All 4 of us here have covid, myself and adult DS2 are least affected so we are walking the dog. DH has been given antibiotics so I had to go and collect these from chemist, but obviously wore a mask and stood away from everyone. I think if you feel ok, walking and fresh air is good and I just cross the road when someone approaches.

I would. Solo outdoor exercise is mentioned in the guidance. I don't think there was ever a good public health reason (especially since vaccines) for people not to go for a solo walk but the legal duty meant it had to be very clear cut. For some, it may help their recovery, reducing the overall health burden.

Maybe we need a code though - carry a red stick or something - as in the days of the plague, so people know to steer clear

Why does it matter who else is or isn't? We all make different choices, depending on our individual circumstances.

Because I am really unsure what others think and would like to know! My neighbours know we have it and are assuming we are staying put as does some family so I just wondered what other people thought and it’s made me feel better!

But why do you care? It doesn't matter what people around you are doing. It's a personal choice for you to make for yourself and your family!

walksen · 13/03/2022 15:04

"But want to take DS for some fresh air"

Plenty of people did this when it was against the law. Typically they would say they were in a remote area, sticking to early hours, quiet areas etc

I wouldn't worry about doing the same now.

After all a large proportion of people are not testing at all and in a few weeks will have to pay to do so.

PowerhouseOfTheCell · 13/03/2022 15:22

I did when in Oct 2020 when everyone was still in ‘granny killer’ mode. I live on my own and by day 10 was honestly starting to hear voices so used to go for an early morning and late evening jog around the park

Lilaclavenders · 13/03/2022 16:00

Why do you care what others are doing? That shouldn't influence your decision imo.

SpringRainbow · 13/03/2022 16:43

Yes, I would probably go out for some fresh air. I never agreed with outlawing fresh air previously. Especially since not everyone has a garden or any outside space.

QuebecBagnet · 13/03/2022 16:46

Everyone I know who has covid is going to work as they’ve been told to by their boss. No wonder the numbers are going up.

QuebecBagnet · 13/03/2022 16:47

I left the house for solo bike rides.

Isn’t this page about asking opinions? I’ve just explained why I asked! I felt guilty doing something I wasn’t sure about so knowing people would do the same is reassuring! Stop repeating yourself!!

I'm positive and so is my daughter. We have been out for walks over the weekend in quiet places, avoiding other people.
