Would you go for a walk?

Very mild symptoms, DC's in the pram so they can't touch anything, avoiding any contact with other people and not touching anything while out?

I've been told it's selfish.

I would definitely go for a walk

FourHigh · 10/03/2022 11:25

Yes definitely just keep clear of people it is fine.

danadas · 10/03/2022 11:26

Yes I would. Tbh if your children were in school you would still have to walk them there if you were positive and they were negative (situation we are in this week)

Ijustneedtosleep21 · 10/03/2022 11:29

I did say to my friend that there are people in work, socialising and in the supermarket that know they have it and she wouldn't even know but I am the selfish one for wanting some fresh air.

Go for it. Get some fresh air.

Duracellbunnywannabe · 10/03/2022 11:31

I would treat it like chicken pox. Outside and away from people is fine.

BogRollBOGOF · 10/03/2022 11:32

I've been taking DS to empty playgrounds and for country walks. He's no risk outdoors. We're avoiding indoors because there is more risk there.
He feels better outdoors as it clears his sinuses.

Mindymomo · 10/03/2022 11:34

If you feel ok, just go. Fresh air is good for recovery. DH and DS have covid at the moment and are in bed with aches and coughs, sore throats, so too unwell to go out, but when they start to feel better, I will encourage them to get some fresh air.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 10/03/2022 11:35

Just be sensible. Walk around busy market? No.
Empty field? Yes.

Avoid busy times and stay away from people as much as possible.

Hollyhead · 10/03/2022 11:35

Yes in a quiet area, lots of countries have allowed covid positive people to walk outside all the way through.

Jules912 · 10/03/2022 11:41

Yes, DS has just tested positive. He doesn't feel up to going out at the moment but I'll take him for walks when he does. I'll avoid the town centre and times that are likely to be busy but otherwise don't see a problem.

Cookerhood · 10/03/2022 11:59

Yes, I would. We didn't but only because it was the week of awful weather (gales, rain etc). It was actually just before the rules changed as well & I was a bit concerned about meeting people locally even though it would be outside in the fields/woods.

WhiteXmas21 · 10/03/2022 12:04

Absolutely I would. Fresh air is good for mind and body and will help you and dcs sleep better.

emmathedilemma · 10/03/2022 12:24

If it was permitted yes (it's still a legal requirement to self-isolate here) but if allowed I'd go somewhere relatively quiet outdoors.

Do you have a garden?

My child is positive and we wouldn't go out regardless of the political say so that we can! I believe that the right to do something doesn't make doing it right.

YomAsalYomBasal · 10/03/2022 12:40

No. Guidance is still to stay home. It's all very well thinking you won't have contact with anyone but you can't guarantee that.

Bunn5 · 10/03/2022 12:54

It’s not selfish. Go for a walk. It’ll do you and the baby the world of good.

The risk is minuscule outside so very unlikely you will spread it.

JustDanceAddict · 10/03/2022 15:21

Yes I would go out when quiet. Dh did towards end of isolation when the line was barely there.
If you feel well enough, do it.

Zolla · 10/03/2022 16:08

Yes absoloutely. We’ve been taking DD for walks this week in local woods. I’ve chosen a quiet one that’s just down the road. We’ve met a few dog walkers & kept a good distance from them. We’ve done treasure hunts & bark rubbing & collected leaves & stones to make pictures in the garden. It’s done her the world of good, she’s completely asymptomatic & majorly fed up.

I am confident we’ve put no-one at risk!

coloradoqueen · 10/03/2022 16:15

Definitely.

Topseyt · 10/03/2022 16:24

Ignore your friend. You are not being selfish. Just go out for a walk.

All of this utter bollocks needs to end. Common sense needs to return.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 10/03/2022 16:34

I wouldn't isolate, so yes.

Kadge3042 · 10/03/2022 16:45

Absolutely. Are you in England? Isolation isn't law anymore and there is minimal risk of going for walk.

In fact, I think people should be encouraged to go for fresh air. Being stuck indoors isn't ideal.

We all had covid in December and when 10 days was still obligatory. We all had it and it was a nightmare being stuck in. I would absolutely go for a walk in quiet areas now, I would do this even if it was still law to isolate. Being isolated really affected my sons mental health. A walk can make the world of difference. When my two dc have covid we took one drive out to see Christmas lights, it made the world of difference.

user1471509171 · 10/03/2022 19:02

Yes go for fresh air. I would now the law has changed.

Libertynan · 10/03/2022 19:05
