4 yr old Gs stayed with us overnight on Friday. I took him to the park Saturday morning but he didn’t want to stay long as he was cold. He drooped around the house until I took him still saying he was cold, dd took him to visit her in-laws took his temperature which was 38.7. She tested him and very rapidly lft was positive.

He has got all through the last two years without catching Covid and none of us have had it but although we have all been vaccinated I am sure he will be generous and pass it on.

You might get it, you might not.
If you do, I really hope you are not going to blame him for it.

GiantSpider · 06/03/2022 12:04

This happened to my friend. She'd said no to her parents babysitting her children overnight for nearly two years, and the first time she said yes her DS tested positive the next morning! Her parents didn't catch it from him luckily.

MrsR87 · 06/03/2022 12:11

Hope you don’t catch it! It’s not a given! I had it a couple of months ago and didn’t isolate from my DH or DS due to DS only just being over one at the time. We tested them regularly and for over a week after I tested negative and they never got it!

YouHaveNoAuthorityHereJackie · 06/03/2022 12:12

What awful language you’ve used to describe a 4 year old. Take a good look at yourself

PatchworkElmer · 06/03/2022 12:19

Nobody’s fault. One of those things. My 5 year old has it at the moment, having also avoided it for 2 years. Hope your Grandson is ok.

Beachbreak2411 · 06/03/2022 12:22

Your poor grandson. For having you as a grandparent. You don’t sound very loving or caring… my parents would just be concerned for their grandchild being ill.. not describe them the way you did.

ancientgran · 06/03/2022 12:22

My GS lives with me and he got covid last year, I didn't catch it, DH didn't catch it. Maybe try feeling a concerned about your poorly GC.

I've got covid now, no idea how I got it but no one did it deliberately, just one of those things.

Poor little boy, I hope he feels better than I do.

throughtheair · 06/03/2022 12:22

It's not a given you'll catch it...DD10 had it before Xmas and we didn't distance at all - in fact I spent the first 2 days sat with her on the sofa all day. DH and I didn't catch it.

Hope you stay clear.

DespairingHomeowner · 06/03/2022 12:27

It’s not a given you will catch it, as virus loads from kids are lower

I have Covid right now …. Overall am grateful managed to avoid for so long

Sheeeeeysh · 06/03/2022 12:28

My mums spent a weekend cuddling her grandson who tested positive Sunday night

She didn't get it. There's hope!

55larry · 06/03/2022 12:30

I absolutely adore my grandson and of course I would never blame him. I know he couldn’t help catching it and if we get covid we get it.

We all had covid mid January and during the infectious phase my kids were at grandparents house (no symptoms and lateral flows were negative at this point) the following day my baby woke with a mild fever and tested positive. A very very dark positive too if that means anything. Later on in the day the rest of the kids also tested positive. Thankfully non of grandparents caught it, or if they did they had zero symptoms.
Furthermore, my DH never caught it from kids or I either! Absolutely no social distancing etc.

2boysand1princess · 06/03/2022 12:36

Should also mention that grandparents and DH all boostered, so don’t know if that’s the reason why. I wasn’t and caught it from my kids though. As did my sister who also isn’t vaccinated.

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 06/03/2022 12:38

I had covid in January and didn’t isolate from my family at home at all. I had our toddler with me all day every day. No one else caught it from me.

whiteworldgettingwhiter · 06/03/2022 12:38

Good, you sound lovely. He 'drooped'? Poor boy was probably feeling ill. how unsympathetic you sound.

I'm sure if you catch Covid you'll be absolutely fine 🙄

rolypolydoly · 06/03/2022 12:39

Then change your language. Your OP sounds very much like you will blame him should you catch it.
Flowersandhearts · 06/03/2022 12:44

Aw that sucks OP. It's more of a worry when you're over 45, even if you're triple vaccinated.

There's no point people saying maybe be concerned about your grandson- of course you're concerned and love him, the problem is there's more risk the older you are!

Howshouldibehave · 06/03/2022 12:48

I slept in the same bed as my DH during the whole time he had covid and didn’t get it. It’s got a given and it’s certainly not his fault

cherrytopcake · 06/03/2022 13:21

Weird thing to post about your Gson.

HalloHello · 06/03/2022 13:26

What a bloody terrible attitude.

Very similar situation happened with my DD4, and my parents have been fine all week. I'm sure it'll be worse for him and his parents who will likely catch it as we have and be stuck in the house with a miserable bored child for over 2 weeks while everyone gets over it. You need to give your head a wobble, this has been happening for years now. We need to get used to it. Pre covid, would you have been so rude if he had given you a cold??

Popfan · 06/03/2022 14:30

Wow I think you are getting a very hard time here and I think some posters are being ridiculous! Nowhere does your post suggest you don't love and care for your GS and blame him in any way, it just comes over to me as you are just saying after 2 years of him nor catching it it's sods law that the one time he does he's stayed with you.

Hope he's ok and you are too.

BluebellsGreenbells · 06/03/2022 14:35

According to worldometre 20 million have had Covid out of what 80 million people?

That’s loads who have yet to get it. Hardly news worthy.

Agreed, I took the post to be a sort of tongue in cheek, rolling eyes sort of thing that he managed to get through 2 years of getting it and now here he is with it now.
bellac11 · 06/03/2022 14:36

2 years of NOT getting it
