Has anyone had their U16 teen vaccinated less than 12 weeks from positive test?

We are hoping to go skiing - our 15 yo has had one jab and had Covid over Christmas. Her 12 weeks from positive test is 17 March and we’re hoping to fly on 25 March which is obviously less than 2 weeks later. Has anyone tried taking their child to be jabbed earlier than 12 weeks after a positive test? Do they check the record?

I didn’t realise it was 12 weeks post COVID. My 16 year old daughter had her 1st vaccine 28 days after having delta. This was in August with delta. I certainly wouldn’t worry about a few days. 12 weeks is a big gap.

I had no idea about the 12 week gap! My 8 year old had his first jab, 10 weeks after a positive pcr. No one raised any issues.

The Green book chapter 14a sets out all the requirements regarding the gaps between vaccinations and/or infection

Cooker that green books states the 12 week gap between vaccines can be brought forward in times of high incidence - surely now is one of those times and that's how so many seem to be able to get theirs at sites? It seems to me that those i know whove had theirs earlier have done so at sites run by GPs and nurses whereas maybe theres less flexibility with vaccinators?

OP you will have no issue getting your son the vax as they 100% cannot see the PCR result - like i said both mine had their vax 4 weeks after covid and that was after the rule change in November

OP where are you going? for france you only need one week post second jab

Cookerhood · 27/02/2022 08:59

High incidence means like the panic before Christmas. The site I work at it a GP site, which also accepts walk ins. It will be entirely up to the clinical lead & whether they think it is justified doing it early. Ours wouldn't without a GP request.

You may not need the full 2 weeks post jab? We got the digital certificate within a day or 2. I don’t know if they just scan the bar code and are looking at expiry dates? Rather than calculating when it was given. I’d check that though.

@NotDonna they increased the gap a few months ago as going from 30-90 days significantly reduces the risk of cardiomyopathy. One of the reasons why the incidence is much higher in the US than here.

OP my middle son had his first jab at 86 days post covid as I wanted it to be within half term in case he felt unwell. I think they just asked when he'd had it. A few days will make little difference.

They increased it to 28 days for under 18's last October. I remember the date as my ds caught covid last October the same week as his 2nd vaccinaton was due.

Sorry increased it to 12 weeks.
