How often are you having to take lft's?

Obviously we are doing it when asked but it just seems constant recently. Up until Christmas my older 2 dc were doing them twice a week for secondary school and 2 of my dc had had 2 pcr tests each for what turned out to be colds. Then we spent most of January this year with everyone testing daily because first there was an outbreak of covid in the primary school so we were asked to do daily testing, then dc3 got covid so we all had to test daily for a week. Dc1 and dc2 were getting emails every few days saying they were close contacts through school so had to test daily for 7 days each time. Then we had a couple of weeks where it all calmed down and we were just testing twice a week. Now dc2 is a close contact again so he has to test daily.

I know it's necessary but I'm just sick of it. 2 of my dc have autism so testing usually involves a screaming meltdown from 1 child, nervous twitching from the other and a general whinge from the dc who are not autistic but are understandably fed up with the whole thing.

Haven't done them in months.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 18/02/2022 12:55

I'm doing them occasionally. I did one on Wednesday as I was going into the office and I was coughing (before anyone says anything I have a near permanent cough and can't do PCRs every time so I do a LFT instead). I might do one tomorrow as we've got elderly family visiting but that'll probably be it for me for the foreseeable future.

Daily, but I am CEV with a job involving mixing with lots of people. I need to test daily according to my consultant as it means I will get antiviral drugs quicker if needed.

Aware that most people are not in this situation.

Not done one for a long time.. I’ve managed to never be a close contact since omicron hit & DDs school have had two cases since January. It kinda surprises me now when people talk about covid as it’s just not something I really think about anymore. No-one I know has had it since Christmas & no-ones had any school disruption etc! I guess it’s just the area we live in, we’ve been lucky to have low level cases here (Yorkshire)!

Zolla · 18/02/2022 13:09

Oh & I WFH so no need to test for that kinda reason either!

Blubells · 18/02/2022 13:10

Haven't done them for months.

Lazypuppy · 18/02/2022 13:10

I tested when my partner got his positive and i got mine, then tested on day 5 and 6 and that was it. Before that i had only done 1 or 2 tests

Oblomov22 · 18/02/2022 13:15

Barely ever, thankfully.

Erictheavocado · 18/02/2022 13:41

Daily since October. I work in a school and our case rate triggered the extra measures protocol, so all staff testing daily, staff wearing masks when not in class, year groups separated and staggered timings for the school day. Due for review after half term. Hopefully cades have reduced sufficiently to go back to twice weekly testing as my poor nose is becoming quite tender.

firef1y · 18/02/2022 13:42

I generally do a one before I do a boxing or stretch session with my PT, maybe once a week. Neither of us are particularly worried about actually getting covid so much as having to isolate. Once the need to isolate (and free tests) stops then I'll stop all these tests.

Jules912 · 18/02/2022 14:00

For the kids the school just asks for one if there's cases in their year, I tend to only bother if it's in the class but do 2 or 3 a week rather than just one. We all did daily for 11 days when DD had it and my nose was bleeding by the end so I wouldn't do that for cases in the class as it would've been most days since November!

s1h2o3na · 18/02/2022 14:01

have only ever tested ourselves and kids if symptomatic or specifically required eg. appointments or day 1 return to school. Much of Europe didn't expect the same level of asymptomatic testing that we did in the UK .

Waxonwaxoff0 · 18/02/2022 14:05

Not doing them any more. It's not necessary, only advised. Haven't done one since Christmas.

Porfre · 18/02/2022 14:07

Work in Healthcare so have to do them daily while on my working days

fallingfrog · 18/02/2022 16:20

I don't really do them now, have only done them when proof was needed but most places aren't checking any more.

BuffaloHigh · 18/02/2022 17:43

People saying they aren’t doing them, have you not been told you’ve been in contact with people who have it? Or you are not even testing then?

vodkaredbullgirl · 18/02/2022 17:45

Every shift we have to work, so 3x a week.

I've told people not to give my name to T&T. I'm fully vaccinated and I'm not testing either way any more so it's pointless.

I've never been contacted by T&T. I did 6 of the 7 tests when I knew I'd been in contact with someone but only because it was just before Christmas. If it was now I'd only bother if I was going somewhere
TinaYouFatLard · 18/02/2022 17:52

I did one to get back into the U.K. in early January.

SweetFelicityArkright · 18/02/2022 17:53

Doing them now before each shift (dementia unit) was three LFT a week and one PCR but it's just changed to no PCR and LFT before shifts, PCR if symptoms/outbreak I think.
During outbreak it was LFT every day and PCR twice a week. That wasn't fun for nigh on 6 weeks.

I think we will be testing residents once a month I think now with LFT unless symptoms then LFT with PCR to confirm.

BankersBonus · 18/02/2022 17:54

3 times a week.

CovidCorvid · 18/02/2022 17:56

I’m supposed to take them twice a week for work but don’t.

greenlynx · 18/02/2022 17:58

At least once a week before social club plus before medical appointments, plus 2 days after some gatherings/events just in case

RandomDent · 18/02/2022 17:59

Not at the moment because I had covid 2 weeks ago. Back to twice weekly in a few weeks. I work with unvaccinated minors.
