Any rules re putting out bins - Covid infected household

Sorry - probably stupid question - household has Covid. Black bin day tomorrow. Need to put out v full black bin - Am I allowed to put that and recycling out - have seen stuff online dated 2020 that talk about everything being double bagged and not touched for 72 hours - is that still the case?

I just put mine out as usual the night before. The bin men here wear heavy duty gloves.

OMG. In a week the requirement to isolate is going to be dropped, but we still have people fretting over putting the sodding bin out! They’ve done a right number on some people.

I couldn't have put it better myself Grin

treeflowercat · 17/02/2022 15:43

No, IT'S ILLEGAL! What is it people don't understand about self-isolating... Just bag up the waste and store it inside for fortnight... It might smell but at least you're not risking passing on Covid, and NOTHING, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING, is more important than not passing on Covid.

As for putting your bin out, what if you slip up on the path whilst doing it and need emergency services? You may as well just commit mass murder and have done with it.

Even if you wear a FFP3 mask and do it at 3am and live in an isolated farmhouse, no mask is 100%, and you never know who might pass through your non-filtered aerosolised breath blown a mile down the road at 7am the next morning!

.... or maybe stop catastrophising and just put the bin out.

I would put them out but definitely disinfect the handle.

Why?

I'm shocked that people are putting bins out - don't you know there's a Pandemic going around? We haven't left the house since February 2020, so DH burns all our rubbish in the lounge fireplace. Good for the planet too because it saves on heating bills.

It doesn't count unless you say global pandemic. In caps.

Omg , I cannot believe this question was asked . Looks like the behavioural nudges worked well. Where is the sense of perspective ?

Mickarooni · 19/02/2022 12:37

To be fair to the OP, as someone said up thread, she calmed questioned something and many others responded by hysteria and drama.
