Any rules re putting out bins - Covid infected household

Sorry - probably stupid question - household has Covid. Black bin day tomorrow. Need to put out v full black bin - Am I allowed to put that and recycling out - have seen stuff online dated 2020 that talk about everything being double bagged and not touched for 72 hours - is that still the case?

OP posts:

I just want to walk my dog...

MissMaple82 · 14/02/2022 22:43

Dear lord, take the bloomin' bins out!

TheDoveFromAboveCooCoo · 14/02/2022 22:44

Take it out as normal but wear gloves. That's what we did.

Covid isn't this terrifying deathly illness anymore.

Would you be worried about catching flu from someone's bin if you worked as a bin man/lady??

MissMaple82 · 14/02/2022 22:44

Sunflowers- walk the poor dog! Dogs need walking

dementedpixie · 14/02/2022 22:45

There did used to be rules about not putting covid infected rubbish out for 72 hours so the OP isn't imagining it. Dont know if it's still advice now though

DontWantTheRivalry · 14/02/2022 22:48

Is this madness ever going to end.....

This times a million.

Bloody hell. It’s a bin. Chill out.

Whattochoosenow · 14/02/2022 22:48

Re the dog walking, I got shot down in flames on here when I suggested it was ok to walk your dog if you avoided people, because covid can linger in the open air for hours and hours apparently….
Thank goodness this isolation thing is soon to end! I’m so envious of you south of the border.

dementedpixie · 14/02/2022 22:49

Found this:

All personal waste such as used tissues and disposable cleaning cloths should be placed securely in a plastic bag or bin liner

This plastic bag should then be placed in another plastic bag and securely tied. These bags must be stored separately to other waste for at least 72 hours before being placed in the general rubbish collection.

After 72 hours outside the body the virus is no longer viable and the double bagged waste can be put in the general rubbish collection as normal. Only waste that is contaminated, such as tissues that have been coughed in and cleaning cloths, need to be treated in this way. Regular household recycling and waste should be treated as normal.

I just linked the info. Used tissues/cloths I didn't make up the information
TheKeatingFive · 14/02/2022 22:51

Seriously? Just put your bins out.

EveryFlightBeginsWithAFall · 14/02/2022 22:53

I didn't even think about this the 2 times I had covid. I doubt people are getting it off bin handles though. I'd think bin men are really good at not touching their faces as well !

Mediocrates · 14/02/2022 22:53

This is something I'd never considered until I was on the phone to Test & Protect for the 4642256th time this week because all five of us have Covid.

I asked a completely different question and the response was "We tell people not to even put their bins out". (We did, but we gave the handles a wipe down)

Enjoyingaquickdip · 14/02/2022 22:53

Jesus Christ, honestly is this a March 2020 thread Hmm.

Millicent2022 · 14/02/2022 22:54

You know isolation is ending in like.a week?

Put your bins out !

Tee20x · 14/02/2022 22:55

Hasselhoffsheadband · 14/02/2022 22:56

Christ, have I just entered some kind of April 2020 time warp?!

Kitkat151 · 14/02/2022 22:58

🙄 I can’t believe people are writing shit like this

Seriously.

This is my level of fuck off and fuck off some more if this is being said to anyone.

Bins will go out as norm in my house. On principle.

HowlingKale · 14/02/2022 23:09

It's airborne op.

WTF is Test and Protect? We just had a I I’d, reported the positive tests, got a few text messages but nobody phoned us. Bins and recycling went out without a second thought.

I know you didn’t, but the information is still laughable.

What has this world become if we are having to double bag tissues and store them somewhere for 72 hours before they can go in the wheelie bin due to them being infected with Covid Grin

It’s madness and I doubt that hardly anyone on the planet actually does this.

HaveringWavering · 14/02/2022 23:30

We all just had Covid, that should read.

sleepwouldbenice · 14/02/2022 23:49

You aren't going to get a balanced opinion on the covid boards anymore OP

Nevertheless just try to do when others not about and wipe handles. Hope you all keep well
