How many get covid after triple vaccines

Dodie66 · 04/02/2022 17:03

Just wondering if there are any figures on how many people get covid after having the 3 vaccines. I tried looking online but could find any statistics. I know a lot of people that have had it after being triple vaccinated

Anecdotally, I know lots of triple vaccinated people who have it just now/had it recently and a lot of them were/are very unwell - like, flu rather than cold, unable to get out of bed for 2 or 3 days, and then very tired for a couple of weeks after. But none ill enough to need medical attention.

I am double vaccinated (3rd one due in a couple of months) and I just had it, completely without symptoms EXCEPT losing taste and smell, which was how I knew I had it and are still not back, 3 weeks later. It's seems so weird and personal, how different people are affected differently, even within same basic age/health demographic.

liveforsummer · 05/02/2022 10:37

Anecdotally there seems to be zero difference between the number of people catching it regardless of vaccine status, neither is there much difference in the level of illness. I know unvaccinated people who haven't had it or have had it extremely mildly and triple vaccinated who have been quite unwell (in a normal bad virus way). Im glad the other vaccines we rely on for serous disease are more effective than this one.

DD and her DP have each had Covid 3 times now
DS has had Covid once - all of them are triple jabbed
I am double jabbed but not had the booster as was so poorly after both vaccinations - I’ve not had Covid yet despite being in very close contact with lots of people who have
DP isn’t vaccinated at all due to medical risk and has not caught Covid yet

hesbeen2021 · 06/02/2022 12:37

I had my booster in October, I'm currently day 2 of Covid, the first 24 hours were exactly the same symptoms as when I had it a year ago although obviously different strain. First time around I lay in bed almost unable to move for ten days. Today I certainly don't feel well, I couldn't go to work or drive for example but I can pop in an out of my bed, make cups of tea and can actually eat.
Oh has anyone had awful flatulence with it?

KatBee121 · 08/02/2022 20:16

All our household has had all 3 jabs and neither me, the hubby or the FIL caught it from the MIL when she had it a few week ago. But then none of us have caught it before that either so either we're not as susceptible or the jabs have done a great job

dahliaaa · 08/02/2022 21:13

I'm triple jabbed and managed to avoid it until 5 weeks ago.
Unfortunately I'm still struggling to get back to normal.

IfIHadAHeart · 09/02/2022 00:44

I had it 3 weeks after my booster. I was quite unwell. Certainly no less poorly that when I had it before any vaccines.

SomePosters · 09/02/2022 00:51

Triple jabbed.

Never tested positive despite doing hundreds of tests at this point

That's my observation too. Although the official data does suggest otherwise. It is clear that the vaccines are far less effective against omicron than previous strains. Not surprising, since omicron is significantly mutated from what the vaccine was developed to immunise against.
Cheesechips · 09/02/2022 03:11

Yes, I had it recently. I was asymptomatic and was negative by day 5.

oldtableleg · 09/02/2022 11:14

I think recent infection is more protective against symptomatic infection than vaccination. Anecdotally everyone I know who has it now (lots!) is triple vaccinated & quite a few also had a previous infection (delta last year). The only people I know who’ve avoided it after exposure are those who were infected with omicron in December/early January. Obviously protection against serious illness is most important but it’s a pain - I’d really rather not have to isolate multiple times despite vaccination.

delilahbucket · 09/02/2022 12:24

I did and I was very poorly with it. Normally fit and healthy and I never get viruses. Carrying some stuff up and down stairs this morning left me wheezing and coughing and that is a task I do regularly and I'm a runner, so not normally out of breath easily. It completely floored me. Left me wondering why I bothered getting my vaccines, as surely I can't have been worse.
On the other hand, DH has spent almost three weeks living with DS and then me who had it, and he's been fine. I think it's because he had Pfizer, Pfizer, Moderna, whereas I had all Pfizer. Either that or lockdowns have shot my immune system as I normally work alone, so obviously had little contact with people when normally I'm out socially with large groups of people several times a week. DH worked with the public throughout.

onemouseplace · 09/02/2022 16:11

DH and I both did - both mildly unwell and had lingering symptoms of fatigue for a couple of weeks, but fine now.

FrenchFancie · 10/02/2022 06:24

I’m currently on day 5 triple vaccinated. I’ve basically had a bad cold, felt a bit fluey and had one day more or less in bed. I have been fortunate and had a very mild dose.

A very close friend of mine is unvaccinated due to medical reasons and is currently in ICU on an ecmo machine fighting for her life. She has been this way since January and it’s still 50/50 as to whether she will ever come home from hospital.

Had she been able to be vaccinated she would have, in all likelihood, been spared this. As would her family and, maybe most importantly, her 9 year old daughter.

Vaccines are so so important. For those saying they didn’t matter because they were still I’ll in bed with it - think yourself lucky, if not for your vaccines you could have ended up like my friend.

waitinginthecar · 10/02/2022 06:54

That's because the vaccines don't stop you from getting the covid virus.
They enable your body to fight the virus off more effectively so you experience milder symptoms.

Aishah231 · 10/02/2022 07:01

Not very scientific I know but there must be loads. I work in an office with 10 people everyone has been triple jabbed 7 out of 10 have got covid again. I haven't been vaccinated and I haven't had it at all. Those saying it reduces the chances of dying need to realise that the really seriously ill people haven't been vaccinated due to medical reasons and therefore are more likely to die with covid if they get it. They also only test unvaccinated people in hospital for covid. Lies damn lies and statistics springs to mind.

Alexandra2001 · 10/02/2022 07:16

@SilverontheTree

Lots but vaccination has turned it from a killer (for some) into a disease that can usually be managed at home.
Yes vaccines have been brilliant haven't they.

but the 7 day rolling death rate avg is 258 per day (93k p.a) we have just become numb to the numbers.
Still 1500 daily admissions to hospital for covid.

2boysand1princess · 10/02/2022 18:29

I got it but I’m only double jabbed. Caught covid when I was supposed to get booster.
DH and my parents didn’t catch it despite constant close contact, but they have had boosters.

SquareNotCircle · 10/02/2022 19:18

I got it after triple vaccination- just recovering now

hesbeen2021 · 11/02/2022 08:57

I'm Day 6 and testing negative fir the second day running yippee
I've had three jabs and covid a year ago when I was very unwell
This time I was unwell for 24 hours only although not quite right for the rest of this week

Herani · 11/02/2022 16:45

I'm triple-jabbed and have it now. I'd hate to think what I would have been like if I'd had no vaccination.

ShallWeTalkAboutBruno · 11/02/2022 16:47

I’ve had it twice, pre vaccination and after 3 vaccinations. It was worse the second time!

The don’t only test unvaccinated people for covid.
EllaPaella · 11/02/2022 19:20

I'm tripled jabbed and just had it. Day 11 now and only just started to feeling anywhere near normal today. Totally wiped me out for the first 4 days. Getting very irritated by people who claim it's'just a sniffle'. Maybe for some but certainly not for everyone!

KeepingAnOpenMind · 11/02/2022 19:21

You are more likely to get covid after being vaccinated in my experience.
