Coaches and hotels

Someone I knew went away and used a coach with no windows on and a hotel which is newly built that has no windows. Could it be likely they caught covid from the coach or hotel? For 2 years they have always wore a mask and not used a coach or hotel.

Could be either but a busy coach is more likely than an individual hotel room. But if they are in a restaurant, they would have been in a room with lots of others with no masks on (as you can't eat in a mask).

countrylady2 · 29/01/2022 14:12

Yeah, they went to pubs and restaurants too.

Jesus, where did they go? North Korea?

countrylady2 · 29/01/2022 14:14

@WheelieBinPrincess The coach was from the Midlands and the hotel was down South. It sounds backwards that there are no windows for ventilation.

Do you mean a coach with no windows open or a coach with no windows?

Hellocatshome · 29/01/2022 14:16

I'm assuming both had windows. If there were no opening windows it would be likely both had circulating air anyway, especially the coach.

cheekychaplin · 29/01/2022 14:17

They probably caught it from a person tbh.

countrylady2 · 29/01/2022 14:17

@WheelieBinProcess they claimed the coach and hotel had no windows. I have seen coaches like this.

Good grief I'm panicking at just the thought of no windows! How claustrophobic.

Have you? Where?

countrylady2 · 29/01/2022 14:19

I just did an image search for National Express coach and cannot see any opening windows.

AlexandraEiffel · 29/01/2022 14:20

How did the driver see out? Or was it also driverless?

Hellocatshome · 29/01/2022 14:22

No windows and no opening windows is two entirely different things.

That's what I meant, no opening windows.

If they were in an enclosed space with another human for more than about 10 minutes then they could have caught it there. Coaches are no different to buses/trains in this respect.

countrylady2 · 29/01/2022 14:24

@KindergartenKop You are right. I would not want to use public transport, it's scary how easily it can be caught.

OP posts:
Hellocatshome · 29/01/2022 14:27

Has this person you know actually caught covid or are you just worrying that they might?

KindergartenKop · 29/01/2022 14:27

But you can also catch it in supermarkets, schools and pubs. You can't avoid them all forever. You sound quite worried.

countrylady2 · 29/01/2022 14:34

@Hellocatshome They caught covid and came up positive on different tests and struggled to breathe. I'm just stressed out now as a lot of people think it's a hoax but covid is still here.

Lots of people have been doing just that since the start, to get to work and get on with their lives.

It’s far less terrifying than you make it out to be.

Hellocatshome · 29/01/2022 14:37

I'm just stressed out now as a lot of people think it's a hoax but covid is still here.

A few very vocal people think its a hoax most people are fully aware it's real and are taking sensible precautions to limit the chances they may catch it while also balancing that with continuing to live as normally as they can. What has made you so concerned now, other then someone you know catching it?

countrylady2 · 29/01/2022 14:39

@Hellocatshome It's cos Boris lifted restrictions and you think it is safe but it's far from safe.

OP posts:
WheelieBinPrincess · 29/01/2022 14:41

Depends on your view of ‘safe’, really, and what risks you are prepared to live with in order to get on with your life.

Plexie · 29/01/2022 14:49

The coach and hotel would have ventilation systems instead of opening windows.

And presumably your friend ate meals in the hotel restaurant etc and went out and about during the day?

countrylady2 · 29/01/2022 14:49

@WheelieBinPrincess Someone came into work with covid last week because management don't want people to work from home. I know the government said you can come in with covid if you have been vaccinated but this guy has gone against company policy as they say work from home if you have covid.
